Oh, I had no clue.

JACKROXYOU 02-10-2005 09:54 PM

i think he is

CreepingDeath~ 02-10-2005 09:54 PM

Yeah... IMO the first four albums are the best, but I guess they needed a change because I would kind of get sick of metallica if it was the same thing over and over.

Huber 02-10-2005 09:57 PM

Wow, Bob Rock just lost so many points with me in under 2 minutes.
does anyone know why lars changed his drumstyle after ajfa?is it because he got his feet ran over or cuz hes lazy?
Well, it's not just Lars that changed his style after AJFA. The way his drumming changed is indicative of the changes the band as a whole went through. During the 80's, the way they wrote music was complex and layered, almost like a classical music composition.

Then they brought Bob Rock on board for the Black album, and Bob Rock's style is very much about simpler, stripped down heavy rock. Whether or not you think that's a good thing, of course, is up for debate, but that's the reason for the change.
Ok, here are a few questions to you 'tallica fans:

1. Hit the Lights was co-written with??? (James and ? (not Lars))

2. Who wrote each lead on the first recorded version of Hit The Lights (Metal Massacre)?

3. James came up with the Seek'n'Destroy riff at work. Where was he employed back
then?

4. What was the name of 'tallica's "black" guitarist?

5. During bassist rehearsals after Cliff's death, guys were asking each new bassist coming into the room "ok, which song of ours do you want to play?". During Jason's turn he replied "?"

6. One of the earliest 'tallica songs had these lines in lyrics, which song was it?

"I'm giving you my room service, and I know it's more than enough"

7. This guy was allowed by his parents to move into their second house and live there with James.

-What was the guy's name?
-Why did his parents allow him and his friend (James) live there?
-What did James teach this guy to do?

-------------------------------------

These questions will keep you busy for a while (I hope) :p

:thumb:
Since nobody else has taken a crack at answering all these, I'll give it a shot.

1) Hugh Tanner

2) Lloyd Grant

3) A sticker factory

4) Lloyd Grant

5) "No, what do YOU want me to play".

6) Mechanix

7) Ron McGovney
- His parents allowed him to live there, because their house was going to be demolished to make way for an interstate and they had a few rental houses.
- He taught him how to play bass.

bob rock has done the unfogivable........changed metallica,at first it was good, but then bob fucked it up;namely, reload and st.anger

supra_speed 02-10-2005 11:17 PM
Bob Rock halted the thrash albums.

THat's the only reason I don't like him. He's a good producer though.
THIS ****ING ANGERS me! he must die

MoX_KIll 02-10-2005 11:18 PM

Why is it bobs fault ? Metallica wrote the lyrics and the riffs

Huber 02-10-2005 11:50 PM

Okay, so when Metallica tours for there next album, who would you like to be with them? Did you like Godsmack's part of the show on this tour?

metal_milita 02-11-2005 12:01 AM

JUST metallica. Nobody else.....

If it were REALLY up to me, I would age them all down 30 or so years also. And replace James Aquafina bottle with a keg.

Now how does that sound

\m/Pete\m/ 02-11-2005 12:02 AM
i wouldent have
I think that i would've gotten a little less "Metallicized" if they would have just stayed with the same pattern that they started off on with Kill Em All.

Thats why i really cant stand Slayer anymore because all of their albums are the same to me. Im glad that Metallica has done what theyve done because thats what made me the fan i am today.

oh and yeah i thought Godsmack kicked *** when i saw them

\m/Pete\m/ 02-11-2005 12:03 AM

What would be a sweet, yet feesable, line up for the Summer Sanitarium tour

and by feesable i mean dont list **** like Obituary or Old Mans Child or anything to that affect

I think i t would be sweet for them and KsE or Shadows Fall to tour with them

or In Flames, which they've played with them before but i couldnt see it (cuz it was in Spain)

MoX_KIll 02-11-2005 12:06 AM

Actually i wouldent mind seeing Megadeth to tour with Metallica but that aint gunna happen.....

Huber 02-11-2005 12:10 AM

I was waiting for someone to finally say that!

SLAYER/METALLICA/MEGADETH TOUR ALL THE WAY!
I was waiting for someone to finally say that!

That would be one of the best concerts ever.

Too bad they are at each others necks. It would drag in lots of fans and it would be remembered as one of the greatest tours ever.

supra_speed 02-11-2005 01:02 AM

are u saying slayer h8s metallica and megadeth. i dont think metallica and megadeth are at eachothers throats anymore . but yes that would be the greatest concert of all time

Reload was a good album! Sure its no MOP, but it was still a good album!

KILO5203 02-11-2005 10:01 AM

ive talked many times about a metallica / megadeth tour with friends. that would be awesome. not likely though.

I havent posted here in weeks, and when i did, it was 2 posts at most - and im still top poster in here.

Andrue 02-11-2005 10:54 AM

update: I re-listened to MOP, the guitar work is definatly more intricate and edgy than load/reload. I know I could never play that myself. I liked the latter half of the cd and am relistening to ride the lightning. same deal there but I am more interested in this cd then i had previously been. personally i still prefer the last 3 cd's i got. imo

Squirrel 02-11-2005 10:58 AM

I love the hard blues edge to their latter work, reminds me ... sort of ... of Danzig.
