Taste_My_Scythe 02-13-2006 10:45 AM

.........right.

So anyways, has anyone been able to land the Are You Dead Yet? DVD? I'm anxious to hear about it.

Also, for those of you that didn't hear about it...the HateCrew Elite made a ten times better holiday instead of "Valentine's Day". So tomorrow, have a happy Cocked n Loaded Soulmate Day. :D

Very nice, and I would have to say your tone is infinitely better than mine, so don't worry about it. :thumb:

I especially liked demonstration #2, you did all the the little harmonic tricks and such very accurately.

Very Very nice.

Keep up the good work

repcak 02-13-2006 02:32 PM

here is an intro (or an idea for an intro) i wrote yesterday, but meanwhile i don't know if its good and it sounds a little bit "false"... i don't know.
tell me what you think about it.

recording (inspirated by Hollenthon *g*)

an alternative version (to be exactly its the first version) of the same intro....
alternative version

Silenius 02-13-2006 02:36 PM

Hollenthon!!! \m/

I'll take a listen.

EDIT: It sounds cool add some Rhythm. :)

(That's not 4/4 is it?)

Well the Rhythm sounded tricky, I had trouble hearing when the phrase started and ended.

MRDuCran 02-13-2006 02:45 PM

Sounds cool. It's a very happy little thing, I just think there's one note that sounds out of key, other than that it's good.

one note... i know that there is something false... would it be possible to say which note? i can upload the *.gp3 file

Silenius 02-13-2006 02:48 PM

Yeah, upload it. :)

repcak 02-13-2006 02:50 PM

the *.gp4 file:
Hollenthon Inspiration 02

would be great, if you could say which note is wrong... i'm not the best one in theory :( it suks

MRDuCran 02-13-2006 02:53 PM

It's the last note of bar 3. You have an F# in which seems to be a CMaj riff.
Change it to an F or G and see how you like it, I prefer G myself.

I think you might want an F instead of F#, it has a more C Major feel, and your version is in G Major.

/Beaten by MRDuCran :(

repcak 02-13-2006 02:56 PM

oh.. and i thought f# would be ok... to be serious i thought its another note... but well. ok... i will change it and will try it once again.

MRDuCran 02-13-2006 02:57 PM

Also, the timing may sound weird because theres an 8th note missing in the last bar. At the moment it only plays 7/8 so it sounds jumpy when it repeats.

Silenius 02-13-2006 02:57 PM
oh.. and i thought f# would be ok... to be serious i thought its another note... but well. ok... i will change it and will try it once again.
You don't have to change anything really, it's just a suggestion. :)
You don't have to change anything really, it's just a suggestion. :)
to be serious i like f# more than f or g. is it really that wrong? can i leave f#? yes or not? for me it sounds correct
Also, the timing may sound weird because theres an 8th note missing in the last bar. At the moment it only plays 7/8 so it sounds jumpy when it repeats.
that was my aim ... but maybe i will change it

It's not wrong at all. You're just doing a lot of Cmaj outlining (C and G are the most common notes) so the F# is suprising because it indicates Gmaj instead of Cmaj.

MRDuCran 02-13-2006 03:07 PM

Yeah whatever you like, have that, since it is YOUR composition, you decide exactly how it sounds.

About that 7/8 bar, if thats what you're trying to do, then it certainly works. :thumb:

repcak 02-13-2006 03:12 PM

hm... i think i should learn more theory about scales. any tips on websites, about lessons on the internet i could use? would like to know how you know if its a Gmaj or Cmaj only because you change one note (f# instead of g or f).... i just don't understand it. :(

edit: a slide at the end of the 4th bar would sound great :D

Britton 02-13-2006 03:17 PM

Go to Wholenote.com

they have lots of scales and some theory.

It sounds kinda...Irish to me

Well C major is:

C D E F G A B C

And G Major is:

G A B C D E F# G

So the F# is the only different note. I suggest getting a basic theory book to understand/learn more theory.
