Starlight Mints - Built on Squares

Sooo good.
Sufjan Steven's latest album Illinois. It's 20+ songs of pure greatness. The album is entirely about issues, politics, cities, buildings, and of course the famous Chicago Serial Killer: John Wayne Gacy, Jr. Songs to check out:

Jacksonville

John Wayne Gacy, Jr.

The Seers Tower

Chicago

Casimir Pulaski Day

The Predatory Wasp of The Palisades is Out To Get Us!

They Are Night Zombies!! They Are Neighbors!! They Have Come Back From The Dead!! Ahhhhh!

Such a fantastic album.

asymm 03-06-2006 11:01 PM

actually - now I'm digging Bitter Tea by the Fiery Furnaces. This is my second listen and I'm only on track three, but these first three songs have been excellent. If you were one of the many who were turned off by Rehearsing My Choir, this record is in the more familiar Furnaces' vein.

I'm actually liking Bloc Party. Someone slaughter me now.

You really need to check it out, man. It's like 18 tracks of filler and 4 good songs.

BillCosby 03-06-2006 11:24 PM

oh okay

any critics give it positive reviews?

I little known webzine rated it # 1 for last year. But they're kind of crazy.

I thought that there debut was awful. With the exception of Wrong Way, Dreams, and Ambulance the rest was just boring. However I'm looking forward to the sophomore album, probably because the title of the album.

ATM 03-07-2006 07:28 AM

Speaking of Fiery Furnaces, am I the only one who just doesn't get Blueberry Boat?

Jacaranda 03-07-2006 07:52 AM

I've been listening to Wolfmothers' S/T quiet a bit, I like it a lot.

pixiesfanyo 03-07-2006 08:13 AM

oh, the TVOTR is just shoegaze, with a good singer.

Little Man being Erased 03-07-2006 03:37 PM

I don't like TV On the Radio or The Fiery Furnaces.

I do like Binary Star though. And seriously, everyone should check out the album Masters of the Universe. Anyone who likes rap/hip-hop will love it. And there ain't no excuses, cause you can download it for free from http://www.subterraneousrecords.com/motu.html. Do it.

Bartender 03-07-2006 05:06 PM

I liked Straight Street, but that's all I've heard from it.

Today, been listening to Old Time Relijun - 2012. It's.. strange. I think I like it; probably need to listen to it more.

I dont get the Fiery Furnaces.

Lately:
Vashti Bunyan - Lookaftering
The Mamas and the Papas. Mama Cass was amazing.

Luxor 03-07-2006 05:40 PM

I looooved them when I first starting getting into them. I haven't listened to anything in a long time tough, I think I just wore them out.

Zappa 03-07-2006 05:42 PM

Charles Mingus - The Black Sant & The Sinner Lady

I haven't played this in quite a while. Forgot how amazing it is.
