It makes me feel good about my guitar skill to know that I'm much younger and much lower in education than what they typically hire, and so I was hired primarily on account of my manners over the phone and due to the merit of my possession of a degree of skill on the instrument. He was really just much too nice. I'm kind of riding high on it right now. :)

Well, I also have to take care of kids as a standard counselor, but it's an art camp. Nobody there is going to reach the same standards of screaming-brat-ation that others get to elsewhere. It's grinding only in the fact that it takes all day. But I get pretty frequent breaks.

i was just commenting because i was going to be a counselor for the infamous WOODWARD for inline, but the amount they were going to pay me would ludicrous

Yeah, I'm a music third (meaning one third of my cirriculum is taken up by music classes...here you need to excel in at least three different disciplines, so only one of your classes can be creative/performance art-based, so they have a music third to allow you to take multiple music classes).

I'll be getting LOTS of pit experience, playing shows and such. That's the main performance opportunity for the counselors there, playing for the musical shows the drama department on that camp puts up. So I'll be good for gigs and stuff potentially as a session musician and stuff, or for pits in bigger musical shows. I'll also make good connections, as the rest of the counselors are, as I said, generally people with masters' degrees in the performance of their instruments. Best of all, if I do a good job for them, they'll hire me back for quite a few summers in the future.
