its pretty hard to rationalize that you are an in-state resident if you are going to school.
like they have an issue with people solely taking advantage of the in-state residency bonus if they don't come and prove they aren't only becoming a resident to take advantage of that.
Well I plan to establish for real residency in the general geographical area once I graduate. My mom, uncle, and soon-to-be aunt will also be living somewhere in California, so I don't imagine having too difficult a time getting residency status. I mean, I'll live there in the summers too. I don't plan to come back to PA much. |
Rob, where do you go?
Penn State
I got accepted into Harvard and Yale but I chose to go to community college because I wanted to join a gang.
Penn State
really? |
ya imma go to humboldt
i think now that i know santa cruz is way out of my league |
when i graduate i'm going to apply to like all of the UC's and like, Cal Poly and Cal Tech etc to get my masters in EE, theyre all such good engineering schools. and that's where i want to live after school, so it'd be good to plant my foundations out there, explore different areas to see where i'd wanna live, and get in an alumni network / start networking with d00dz
also because renewable energy research in the US is basically spear-headed by California / California schools, and that's the kind of work i want so its my LAND OF OPPORTUNITY |
Which Cal Poly?
preferably san luis obispo, even though that's pretty uhh... optimistic. i mean thats one of the best engineering schools in the world. does pomona have a good engineering program too?
edit: weeeird, i'm looking up rankings right now, and i don't see Cal Poly SLO anywhere.. but i remember at one point looking at rankings and seeing them in the top 5 for EE what i do see consistently in the top ranks though is: Cal Tech, UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, UCSB, UCSD, UC Davis, and UC Irvine |
I go to Pomona, and the Engineering is the pretty much the only thing worth going there for.
yeah like i will end up applying to about 10 schools (probably the ones i listed and then both Cal Poly's) and then just doing more research and deciding based on what comes back to me
i'm also thinking about applying as a transfer student at the end of this year just to see where i could actually get in at this point, even tho i have no intention of transferring |
Thats kinda ****ed cause you'll end up taking someone else's spot.
ITT Dominick is concerned with other's education.
I'm concerned with justice!
Dominick you should become a lawyer like in A Time To Kill.
Failing that, dress up like Robin Hood. |
How about Mrs. Doubtfire?
Now theres a quality film. |
I think it's clear Robin Williams' best film was Death To Smoochy.
Hook.
No love for Jumanji?
Bring Me Petah Pan
Jumanji had siq computer animated wasps.

Should I really throw $40+ for first ed copy of Fantasma with the headphones?
Fantasma like the Cornelius album?
Yeah
Eh, I just let it go. $43 for any cd + headphones is a bit much. |
You're all wrong, William's best movie is Jack.
Aladdin
obviously flubber is his best movie and also gave mankind the hope of one day being able to own magical gelatinous substances whilst partaking in wacky scientific hijinx
True that.
Gelatinous.
Strathclyde is a really good uni, yeah. It would've been my firm choice had I got rejected by Glasgow uni. It's got a great reputation, but Glasgow's is marginally better. There's a 3rd Uni in Glasgow, the Caledonian, but that's by far lesser than Glasgow and Strathy - those are the big two.
I've got a number of friends studying there this year, and all of them are loving it and have only good things to say about their courses. I visited the campus a few times as well, and it's pretty top notch, and right in the centre of the city - so near everything you'll need (including the best record store ever, btw). And also, I've been to the student union quite a lot with friends, and I can tell you that it is fantastic. Lots going on, and a really nice place. Plus accommodation in Glasgow is relatively cheap compared to most other similarly sized cities in the UK, and if you were staying in student halls then there are plenty of good ones around the city, some owned by the Uni's themselves, others privately owned. Failing that, it's pretty easy to find flatmates to share with. I would recommend it, it's a great uni and the city has lots of good stuff going on if you're over 18, which I'm fairly certain you are anyway. Great local music scene as well, with loads of nice smaller venues and whatnot. If you're coming here, let me know! I'd love to do an exchange myself, but my course is havin' none of it.
This sounds like exactly what I want, it sounds a lot better than the unis in the US that are offered. A really good music scene is pretty much a requirement, haha, I'm not going to go to Europe or the US and not take advantage of the cheap shows. If accommodation is cheap, that helps a lot too. And yeah, I'm 19 now and I'll be 20 or 21 when I go. Tell me though, if I go to Glasgow, will people there beat me up for not being Scottish? My friend is convinced that they will. |
guys i just wrote and recorded a new song it's called Secret Penis

haha you won't get beaten up, as long as you stay away from rough spots of the city.

Well that seals the deal then. |
Glasgow is pretty culturally diverse, so you should be fine.
I think I should have been born in Scotland. I'm super white and I hate hot weather and I burn really easily.
