I probably should have included the :p smiley after my sentence, because I was kidding.

But, like clockwork, negative shit sparked up again.

It's all good, though. It's not like this is new.

In other news, when I was working yesterday, there was a new worker there (there are two expediters at the restaurant), and she was a bit clueless.

Needless to say, she wasn't working... period.

The bosses there got pissed because her side got all backed up, so they fired her on the spot

Naturally, this fucked me over because I had to operate both sides of the kitchen and Thursday nights are extremely busy (coupled with the Pistons game being on, so people like coming in for appetizers and stuff)... it was chaos. Working by myself with the cooks in the kitchen for over five hours was hectic and pretty stressing.
What's an expediter?

That's a shame about that girl, though. I guess she got what she deserved.

I always liked working Friday nights by myself. I would get 40 bucks in tips from the waitresses and I was only a busboy. Quite lucrative to work by yourself, if stressful.

Arucard 06-17-2005 01:01 PM

Dude, that unlucky.

Btw, Joe is back for people who cant be bothered to read previous pages.

Jom 06-17-2005 01:04 PM

In a nutshell, the cooks make the food, and the expediters garnish the food and make it look presentable.

Like, burgers are easy, because the cooks make the burger, wrap it, and add fries. All we do is uncrinkle the paper.

But for salads and appetizers, we have to get the dressings, bread, etc.

For soups, we add parsley, green onion, etc. depending on the type of soup. We add the soup spoon and the bread, and we make it presentable (app. plate, doiley, etc.).

We have to call for the soup in the back, and they give it at the last moment (so it stays hot for as long as possible, obvious I know).

So yeah, garnishing and dressings and presentation of food are our jobs. They say that we're the quarterbacks of the restaurant or some crap like that, but the cooks do all the cooking and we just add or modify it.

Like, we have to check to make sure the order is right. If someone orders a chicken fajita salad and they say no peppers, we have to make sure that, duh, there are no peppers in the salad :)

And we have to check the temps of soups, meat, and chicken so that they maintain health standards and stuff to minimize the risk of foodborne illness and all that.

So, again: we make the food look presentable and garnish it if necessary, while cleaning and sanitizing the back of the house and eliminating risks of foodborne illness.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 01:16 PM

I figured you were joking, but it's better to apologize anyways. :inappropriatenaughtyemoticon:

Since I brought up the topic of Napolean Dynamite, back when I was in school (in March lol) that movie was the coolest thing around. My history told me and my buddy that if we learned the dance at the end of the movie, he'd give us 50 points of extra credit. I don't think he thought we would actually learn the entire thing, but we did, and I ended up with a 104% in that class. He later on called me and my friend extra credit whores. Oh, and we had to perform the dance in front of our class. :-/ It wasn't really worth it, because I would have gotten an A in that class anyways.
In a nutshell, the cooks make the food
In a nutshell, eh? That's original, must have a special taste.

That sounds like you go through the salad with your hands, to check for peppers. Sorry, just a funny image.

Like with your finger in the soup. Or good old thumbs? Or can you taste everything? :)

Sorry, feeling incredibly lame today.

Also, I know its old news, but I can't wait until the new Children of Bodom album comes out in September. :thumb:

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 02:54 PM

Taste_My_Scythe 06-17-2005 02:56 PM

Thanks! I'm happy to be back. It was really great over there, but the company was a little...eh...lol. It could've been better.

Was it only the grandparents that you had for company?

ATM 06-17-2005 03:00 PM

I haven't been to Italy since I was in 2nd grade. I'm in college now, so it was quite awhile ago.

All I remember is going to the leaning tower of Pisa, and buying this skull for 10,000 lira.

We also went to a glass factory.

Taste_My_Scythe 06-17-2005 03:17 PM

Munky: We were there for three weeks. For the first week, my aunt and 10 yr old cousin were there. That was great, because I'm really close to them. Then, it was just my grandparents and the 30 yr old guy that worked at the B&B we were at. I think he was the only reason I stayed sane...lol.

Arrest: I went to Pisa as well. The leaning tower was pretty cool, but I liked the cathedral and baptistry next to it too. Those were pretty cool. We stayed in Rome the entire time, but we went to Pisa, Florence, Orvieto and Frascati. I liked Frascati the best. I also happened to sit next to this dude on a bus who was wearing an Iron Maiden shirt. So. That was fun. haha.

YDload 06-17-2005 04:15 PM

You went to Italy?

See any Rhapsody fans?

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 04:37 PM

Man... I wanna go on a tour of Europe. Maybe start in Italy, make my way to England, meet up with a couple mxers, have some beers and listen to death metal...Then we could all go to Michigan and go eat at Red Robin so we could watch Jom exubate.
You went to Italy?

Nope. I saw ONE guy (so sad...) with a Children of Bodom shirt. Two guys with Kreator shirts (one I dont think was Italian though)
and some metalheads identifiable by their long hair, leather pants and blackness. That was about it. A little disappointing. Oh, I did see a LOT of people wearing Iron Maiden shirts though. They were for sale everywhere. Street vendors in Piazza Navona. *chuckles*

Arucard 06-17-2005 06:42 PM

I didnt have much to drink whilst i was out, so im only slightly tipsy.
