dei 04-05-2008 02:53 PM

It's not my fault you can't stand and stare like me.

dei i am the guy dancing in front of you that steps on your feet every once in a while

Liebensaft 04-05-2008 04:24 PM

lol

People who refuse to dance at shows are usually more self-conscious than anything and don't wanna look goofy, but if they paused for a moment to realize that they wouldn't look stupid because everyone else is doing it too, then they could increase their fun potential approximately 86%.

YDload 04-05-2008 04:44 PM

im really tall so people notice when i dance

guess i'll just have to get better at it! well im going to Minus th Bear next week and thats the first show i will have gone to where the band is actually danceable. so we shall see...

pulseczar 04-05-2008 04:45 PM

dei you need to loosen up. start grinding chicks at indie shows and be like "i could do this all dei babei"

dei 04-05-2008 04:56 PM

See, but not everyone dances at these shows I go to. It's usually only like two chicks or two dudes and they hit people with their elbows and then everyone is like, I'm going to do what that guy is doing and then you just have a room of people looking like this

What are you going to college for?

Liebensaft 04-05-2008 10:38 PM
what are your act/sat/gpa like?
Didn't take the ACT.

2090 on the new SAT
3.9 GPA
680 on each of the two SAT subject tests I took.

I was kinda baffled. Apparently Santa Cruz is easier to get into than Davis too.
Strathclyde
I'm looking into going on exchange next year or the year after and this is one of my options. Is it a good uni? I've always wanted to go to Glasgow.

Anxious 04-05-2008 10:51 PM

I probably should have skipped this year and sorted things out/ saved up money instead of going to college right away.

br3ad_man 04-05-2008 10:57 PM

I'm glad I took a year off first. I didn't really save any money or do anything overly impressive, but having had a break makes me want to be there now.

dei 04-06-2008 12:35 AM

I always thought you were older than me.

In high school I took the psat only and got like a 2.5 gpa.

Sucks financially if youre coming from out of state too, why not go to Penn St. or something?

perriwinkle 04-06-2008 01:12 AM

wait zmev what school are you going to again?

but yea i got a 3.4 coming out of high school with a 1240 on the old SAT, 620 math 620 verbal

Zmev 04-06-2008 01:13 AM

Either UC Santa Cruz or Northridge. High School was meaningless for me.

Glitterati 04-06-2008 03:06 AM

I always saw high school as just a brief interruption between sleeping and going on mx.
I'm looking into going on exchange next year or the year after and this is one of my options. Is it a good uni? I've always wanted to go to Glasgow.
Strathclyde is a really good uni, yeah. It would've been my firm choice had I got rejected by Glasgow uni. It's got a great reputation, but Glasgow's is marginally better. There's a 3rd Uni in Glasgow, the Caledonian, but that's by far lesser than Glasgow and Strathy - those are the big two.

I've got a number of friends studying there this year, and all of them are loving it and have only good things to say about their courses. I visited the campus a few times as well, and it's pretty top notch, and right in the centre of the city - so near everything you'll need (including the best record store ever, btw). And also, I've been to the student union quite a lot with friends, and I can tell you that it is fantastic. Lots going on, and a really nice place. Plus accommodation in Glasgow is relatively cheap compared to most other similarly sized cities in the UK, and if you were staying in student halls then there are plenty of good ones around the city, some owned by the Uni's themselves, others privately owned. Failing that, it's pretty easy to find flatmates to share with.

I would recommend it, it's a great uni and the city has lots of good stuff going on if you're over 18, which I'm fairly certain you are anyway. Great local music scene as well, with loads of nice smaller venues and whatnot.

If you're coming here, let me know! I'd love to do an exchange myself, but my course is havin' none of it.

What the hell? I got screwed, man. It would also only suck the first year. After that I'd claim in-state residency and pay a lot less. Davis offered me something like $12,000 scholarship for my first year too, which would definitely put a big dent in my overall expenses.

Penn State is lame as hell and I've been planning to go to college in the western U.S. since I drove across the country a few summers ago. Penn State is also way more expensive than a lot of people realize, even for PA residents. Tuition alone for in-state students at main campus is $13,500. Their satellite campuses are only about $2,000 cheaper a year.

If I was staying local, I'd apply to Penn. Might as well go ivy league if I'm staying in this lame geographical area.

pixiesfanyo 04-06-2008 12:48 PM

its pretty hard to rationalize that you are an in-state resident if you are going to school.

like they have an issue with people solely taking advantage of the in-state residency bonus if they don't come and prove they aren't only becoming a resident to take advantage of that.

Sometimes I forget how great California is. Tuition at Cali schools has been skyrocketing for years but it still really ain't that bad when it boils down to it.

Unless yr an out of stater I guess lol westsyde

Anxious 04-06-2008 01:09 PM

Cal State tuition is really cheap but they're mostly all overcrowded as ****.

Robert Crumb 04-06-2008 01:13 PM

That's true. And it's only gonna get worse in the near future. Last thing we need is some hick from Pennsylvania coming here and takin our wimmin and class seats.
