I watched the Nosturi gig today at college.
It's pretty good. It's the first time I've ever seen Alexi's hair wet and **** during a gig, usually it's bone dry and perfectly straight. The set was pretty much the same as when I saw them so no suprises. I think Alexi's playing was average, some well palyed stuff, some improvised crap. I'm disappointed they didn't really focus on the keyboard solo on Living Dead Beat, since I transcribed that the other week, I wanted to see him play it. I asked my friend to learn it today, he said he will but he won't be able to play it full speed. Watching Alexi play the solo to "Bunch" Me I Bleed, it inspired me to learn it, since I think I'll be able to play it pretty well and it sounds cool, I've always thought that since I first heard it. But I gotta write a 32 bar string quartet (4 instruments) in 2 days so I don't think I should learn it yet. It's also a shame they didn't show a guitar/key battle thing, I was hoping for that. I think they played one for that gig though. On the US tour they're on now, they're not doing it, which sucks for some people. They won't do it on the Unholy Alliance tour either since their setlist will only be like 30-60 minutes. I'm certainly looking forward to this DVD, I was thinking today after remembering reading on their site that it's their first so there's going to be loads of extras and cool stuff, what if they put subtitles on for the lyrics!!! That would rule, official lyrics straight from Laiho himself. They've asked people to send them videos and rare bootlegs and whatnot so they can stick that on there too, I'm gonna watch this so many times. OK I'm done, I have no idea why I wrote so much, I have done so recently, who knows. |
congratulations, lucky one! :thumb:
but tell me, where did they played? on your college? was it a normal show or special gig? |
lol noooo
Children of Bodom didn't play at my college, I watched it at college on video google. If he did, I would have stolen him and taken him home. :) |
aaaah... i understand
... i would rather stole his guitar, not him :thumb: edit: me is downloading video from google.com :D thanks |
Yeah good point, I'm sure he has enough o those RV's to keep him going. He doesn't use his Arrowhead one anymore, so I'd take that, plus it's my fav.
|
MRDuCran nice job on the Avenged Sevenfold and the CoB, your sweeping was nice and clean, the songs had some mistakes but I thought over all they were really good.
|
i just listen to it.... the arpeggios in "towards dead end" well played. :thumb: very clean and smooth!
|

Thanks to both. What songs were you talking about when you said mistakes? |
In Towards Dead End after the arppegios the first note or two seem weird but i think soundclick slowed down your playing on me.
|
Oh, well I should mention that my pc isn't great so there's jumps and stuff in there, I think it is TDE actually where's there's that massive £"$*&£$(£"&$* in the middle somewhere, it's because of the low amount of RAM my pc has, it slows down even more when I press record. To be honest, I don't think I hit any wrong note's in that take, except the end bit where it's just the guitar so I cut that bit off and faded it out. :p.
|
In Towards the dead end there was/were one/two notes a little bit false, but i can't say which notes and i rather think it was a soundclick problem.
I listened to the solo of "everytime i die" and there you had some more mistakes, the bendings and so on, weren't clean enough. |

:p No problem man, like I said though you did a great job. Once I get new strings I want to record Downfall or the live version of Towards Dead End. |

Eh. I listened to ETID again today, I'm not happy with it, I might take it down. As I wrote on there, I only pracitsed it for the first time that morning so it's not going to be perfect. Go for it. |
Man, I tend to get nervous when Im recording. Any tips as to how to rid of the nervousness?
|
My best advice is to just keep recording and eventually you will get over it. I myself don't mind recording when i'm alone, but as soon as im in front of people i'm done for.
|
Thats the problem. I always have people around when Im recording. They want to see me record so they sit around all quiet watching me.
|
Oh, that is horrible, I hate that. I can't help you with that one, but I guess the more you do it the better it gets.
|
Nice location thingie BTW:thumb:
Well thanks anyway. |
i have the same problem! last week i visited a friend, and after some time a guy came in, took his guitar and we started to jam. Everytime when there are ppl around who i don't know, i feel very nervous ... i stood there as someone who is holding guitar for the first time in his life. i wasn't able to play the easiest things and i forgot the notes and made a lot of mistakes. i wanted to show off and show him that i'm better than him, but i couldn't - instead he was 100x better than me, though that was wrong :upset:
Nice location thingie BTW:thumb:
yeah, i like it too |
Nice recordings MRDuCran...how did you get the keyboard sound for the Downfall intro?
|
Thats the problem. I always have people around when Im recording. They want to see me record so they sit around all quiet watching me.
God, I can't stand that. I alway have to record my parts alone so I can focus on evertything, you know? If I've got a bunch of guys staring at what I'm doing I can't concentrate. Gah...guess it's a pet peeve. |

Yeah. I start over thinking everything also. |

I could NEVER record with a bunch of people watching me. |

I agree - it'd be tough. Plus, my technique is rather sloppy and needs some work; so it'd be embarassing to have to record the same thing over and over again in front of a bunch of people. |

haha. Very true. I'll practice something up, get it down great. Then recording time, I start over thinking and then mess up. Have to do several takes. |

Yeah. I guess. I'm sure the almighty Mitch does 1/2 a take and nails anything. |

He prolly just tells his guitar to record. Then comes back when it's done. he's that good. :naughty: |

****. And to make this post not complete spam: I hate it when people bash on AYDY? I think it's got a few good tracks. The final three (not including the Ramones cover) especially. |

It tries too hard to be badass, and it seems like Children of Bodom didn't so much try something new as forget who they are. I wasn't a massive fan of Hate Crew Deathroll, either. |
