Thanks to whoever stickied the new songwriting comp thread 2 seconds after I posted it :thumb:

Riva 10-26-2006 07:22 AM

Hehe, no problem.

merge with recommendations?

lightningmetal666 10-26-2006 02:44 PM
That's the point, you're just posting for the sake of posting, post when you actually have something to say, give the discussion a break, after a while it will be a lot more fun to discuss it again.

The point was that there was more off topic stuff than non off topic stuff, which is just not the purpose of a thread.
Was that why the Opeth thread was closed?

Tyr 10-26-2006 02:45 PM

Aye, it was.

single word post. This does NOT contribute to our wondering, spam free forum.

Stoic 10-27-2006 07:20 AM

Actually, I think there's no point in hunting down single word/smiley posts unless a poster does it excessively.

Shadows 10-28-2006 07:32 PM

Can a mod clarify the "official thread" situation? Would I be permitted to make a new thread on a band whose thread was recently deleted? We need an Opeth thread around here and that last one, which always maintained constant discussion, was deleted. Just wondering if it would or would not be conflicting to the current plan for me to start another one.

Nostalgia 10-28-2006 07:35 PM

I don't think there are any mods on, but I remember 'Peer saying that you could as long as you followed the discussion fine and didn't go off-topic.

Most other created another thread for their band, so I don't see why you couldn't.

Shadows 10-28-2006 07:43 PM

That's true. I guess it can't hurt for me to make one. The worst that can happen is Jelle closes it and we have a little melee backstage.

Jom 10-28-2006 07:56 PM

I don't think the purpose of the band threads getting deleted was to not foster discussion again... I mean, 'OK dudes we're going to delete the Metallica, Tool, Dream Theater, Incubus, Opeth, etc. threads, so this means that you can't talk about those bands anymore' doesn't seem like a very good way to go, and chances are, that's not the intent.

Kage 10-28-2006 08:06 PM

Off topic discussion isn't really the problem either.

Bottom line:

DON'T BUMP ANY THREAD JUST FOR THE SAKE OF KEEPING THE THREAD ALIVE. IF YOU'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY REGARDING THE THREAD TOPIC, THEN GO AHEAD.

Warning: "Something to say" does not mean listing your favorite albums for the 200 millionth time. Keep that in mind.

I thought so too, but I'm still lost as to why those threads had to be deleted in the first place.

Jom 10-28-2006 09:52 PM

Well, some of them got so ridiculously big that it didn't hurt to have them revamped. It's not that they were permanently deleted, either... they might get brought back and in the "new" threads they could link to the old ones, but really, I don't see them getting undeleted, nor would I think it would be all that beneficial if they were.

Sorry, I saw enjoyment of life and was compelled to crush it.

It was how I was made, DON'T JUDGE ME!

Riva 10-29-2006 04:20 AM

I'm afraid I cannot undo the work of the Commisars without the consent of all. We work as a community, there is no individual. I shall meet with them first. Have faith, comrade! Friends lift together!

spam i guess, + this guys just pissing me off now. nothing personal but hes always in the DT thread(s) bashing the band and its fans. he was alright to start with as he posted his reasons and stuff, but now its just taking the piss - as shown in this post where he calls us plebs just because we like a band that he doesn't.

The idea came up that we should just allow them because it sometimes takes a while for people to get get an answer in the recommendations thread. So I guess for now they're okay.

Worth noting: R&M is still stagnant!

Kage 10-30-2006 10:22 PM

Permanent Solution 11-01-2006 11:57 AM

Well it's the start of November, and I'm too busy to run RMOTM. I can run it in a bout a week and a half or if people are impatient, they can run it themselves, let me know.

Stoic 11-01-2006 12:01 PM

I can do it if you want :)

Permanent Solution 11-01-2006 12:01 PM

That sounds fine to me :)
