Boink this argument, I <3 Opeth!

I've been listening to a lot of Ghost Reveries lately.

Shadius 04-13-2006 03:22 PM

I'm listening to the Smashing Pumpkins, I'm not sure why I'm telling you all this.

JamJar 04-13-2006 03:43 PM

I'm listening to some random radio station waiting for the new AFI single to be premiered. (Don't laugh that I like AFI)

Shadows 04-13-2006 03:44 PM

There's nothing wrong with liking AFI.

Crysiss 04-13-2006 04:00 PM

The first solo of a Fair Judgement is cool:D

Kage 04-13-2006 04:20 PM

I love the solos on the Deliverance album as a whole.

I like Mikeal's style better than Peter's for sure.

I know everyone goes on about this part, and it finally hit me at the part in Serenity Painted Death when he growls, "white faced, haggard grin, this serenity painted death." That part is so awesome.

Crysiss 04-13-2006 04:26 PM

Serenity Painted Death was the first Opeth song I had heard from Still Life. And yes, that part is awesome.

Stormrider 04-13-2006 04:39 PM

What's AFI ?

One of the first growled Opeth parts that I actually really started to enjoy. Amazing stuff. The way he says "Death" one of the times is awesome.

Grey Incision 04-13-2006 04:55 PM

Personally, I love the part in Moonlapse vertigo 2:37 in. That song is and always will be my favourite Opeth song of all time.:) I hope they play it at the Sydney show coming up. By the way, is anyone going to that?

It really is. One of my favorite parts off of that album, along with the sung part of Godhead's Lament.

Stormrider 04-13-2006 05:11 PM

You mean the "What would they care, if I did stay, no-one would know, ohhh no" ?

I love that.

There edited.

Tyr 04-13-2006 05:17 PM

"What would they care if I did stay
No-one would know
What would they care if I did stay
No-one should know"

That's an awesome part.

Stormrider 04-13-2006 05:21 PM

Yeah, it really is an awsome part.

Det_Nosnip 04-13-2006 05:40 PM

Haha....*waits for Dunkel to come be a dick*

Kage 04-13-2006 05:42 PM

That's one of the first Opeth melodies that grabbed me as well.

All the songs on Still Life stick out as being great, except Moonlapse Vertigo, which I like, but doesn't really have any features that jump out and make it a stand out. The part in White Cluster, though, where the choir-like voices rise up in the background and mimic the guitar part is probably my favorite section of the entire album.

Shadius 04-13-2006 06:20 PM

I just love how desperate he sounds in White Cluster, fits so well with the lyrics and the music and everything, great stuff.

JamJar 04-13-2006 06:21 PM

I really dig Moonlapse Vertigo. From the amazing intro riff to the outro it keeps me interested. I can't really describe what I like about it and IMO it is one of the most underappreciated Opeth songs.

EDIT: AFI = Sorta gothy hardcore punk band.

Crysiss 04-13-2006 06:27 PM

Moonlapse is a great song. I like it alot.

Grey Incision 04-13-2006 07:29 PM

As i mentioned on the previous page, moonlapse vertigo is and always will be my favourite song. I played it for an exam just recently. I think the acoustic sections are just amazing in it, as well as the bluesy kind of part at 4:56. The guitar in that song just hits me hard every time, i love it.

Yeah it is

Stoo 04-14-2006 06:11 AM

Oh my god.

It's been like 4 months now... Damnation and Deliverance...

...Still waiting... AMAZON!! :Shakes Fist:

EDIT: I just realised the name change.

Stormrider 04-14-2006 06:24 AM

They didn't send a notice or anything for why its taking so long ?

Stoo 04-14-2006 06:31 AM

It was my sister's credit card and her e-mail address. She said they mailed her a while back saying one of the albums was delayed, but they're just going to keep the other one till they can send them both at once.

As far as I'm aware that's all that's been said.

Stormrider 04-14-2006 06:33 AM

Hmm. Are you still going to wait, or are you going to be asking for your money back soon ?

Stoo 04-14-2006 06:45 AM

I dunno. I wanna look at her emails myself to see excatly what they said. I'll do that next time I see her. I'll take it from there.
