What album?
They're still my favorite DM band.
Well a song from Unquestionable Presence popped in on shuffle so now I'm listening to Elements with Unquestionable Presence up next. Don't have Piece of Time. |
i love atheist
i used to like atheist a lot and couldn't get into cynic
but now it's the other way around tbh |

Awww Piece of Time is the bestest evarr!!!1!one one Seriously |
I'll get it eventually now that I'm finally enjoying them
Piece of Time is great. Even if you didn't like the other two albums, odds are you would like Piece of Time.
I could never get into Cynic either...Call me shallow, but the robo-voice was too much for me.
Mother Man is one of my all time favorite songs. |
Piece of Time is more 'normal' than UP and Elements.
I bought my UP shirt from Kelly. :thumb: |
its weird saying robo-voice is retarded but vocoder isn't
Get off me and my retarded robo-voice
Since Gorguts was recently mentioned, I've just recently got me some Considered Dead/Erosion of Sanity and it is most excellent.
Hey Tyler is liking Atheist, awesome.
@ Gorguts: Yeah, first 2 albums rule, everything else is pretty bad. |

I'm curious about Obscura - it does seem you either consider it an aberration or a masterpiece without any middle ground - and I love the t/t to From Wisdom To Hate.
Are you trying to make a point young man?
i just summarized that album you dont even need to hear it now
Oh yeah, that sums up Obscura quite well.
idk I quite like Obscura in small doses. I know that it's a terrible album (or should be) though.
The Erosion of Sanity is easily my favorite Gorguts album, it has a fair share of technicality but it isn't hard to take or random in the least. Plus, the vocals rule.
You never hear much about Gorguts last album. What little I've heard of it wasnt that bad either, it was a more traditional sounding album that still had a bit of an Obscura-edge to it, only it seemed more cohesive and less abrasive.
I actually haven't heard anything off of it, I might look into it though. Obscura had a lot of potential, but it was like they wrote a good album and then decided to throw a bunch of random crap in it to be "avant-garde" that totally ruined it.
I have a hard copy for some reason. It's a more straight forward Obscura, like Tyler said. Vocals can be a bit grating, but it's enjoyable.
Are the vocals any different then on their other albums? Because I've always enjoyed their vocals, even on Obscura they're pretty good.
The vocals on the first 2 are completely different than the latter two. On Obscura and From Wisdom to Hate, the best word I can use is wheezing.
I like Obscura, but I really cannot call the vocals good in any way. |

Leprosy is absolutely essential, get it immediately. Spiritual Healing you can take or leave, personally, I think it's Death's worst album by a large margin.
Leprosy is the best Death album IMO, Spiritual Healing is the weakest.
I can't stop listening to Vomitory. Dark Grey Epoch is one of my favorite songs.
Leprosy their best, really? People usually say either The Sound...Perseverance or Symbolic are their best, but my personal favorite is Human. I have to here Leprosy now, my album ratings might change.
... = of
Returning to Gorguts, as I mentioned, the t/t of From Wisdom To Hate is really good, some really cool riffing, but that's all I've heard from the album.
Condemned To Obscurity has a really excellent 'odd' riff, its kind of semi-mellow and then you've got the bass audible over it. It's repeated two/three times throughout the song I think. Leprosy is real good stuff |
