Me thinks Jason because I think the main reason St. Anger wasn't as good was because Rob has changed the music.
|
Rob didn't write a single note on St. Anger.
|
I like Jason more..
|
Yeah it was Bob Rock on Bass for St. Wanker, not Rob.
|
Oh. Shows how much I know :upset:
|
And the bass on St. Anger was actually pretty good, at least compared to anything they let Jason do.
|
And the bass on St. Anger was actually pretty good, at least compared to anything they let Jason do.
Yeah, "Let Jason do". Sadly they didn't let him do more. Could have turned out rather nice. |
Jason has a better sound than Rob, I think. And Jason used to windmill headbang.
Rob is taking Metallica's music away from that St. Anger $hite. |
Cliff > Jason at windmill headbanging
|
it's harder to find live shows of cliff.
|
Yeah, "Let Jason do".

respect my opinions, chu.
lets all agree to this though - bob rock was the worst. (played bass and CO-WROTE st. anger |
He did co-write St. Anger. But it wasn't that bad, and his bass playing is better then I thought it would be..
I don't actually think St. Anger's that bad, and when people say that it is/was ****, it pisses me off, I'm sorry. |
it is by far the worst metallica album because it sounds horrible and it's too long, but it's still better than a lot of the other mainstream stuff out there.

I agree it's too long, but as I have said before, in my opinion it is their best work since Master of Puppets. I think it could do with a remaster though, just fix Lars' drums' sound and retune to standard EADGBe. Maybe even try Rob on bass with some wicked pedals too. |
I don't think standard tuning would be good but the songs were wrote in a drop tuning. Drop C# sounds very good, very thrashy. But yes, Lars snare drum sounds horrible and Rob on bass would be good. The only reason there aren't any guitar solos is because Kirk didn't like the sound of them in the Drop C key. I think that's a really good idea but they're probably going to do that for the next album which should be out this time next year, actually.
Do you use pedals? 50 posts!!! metallica never use standard tuning anyway, always Eb since 1995. |

Since then, they've become boring though so.. But, I didn't miss Kirk's solos anyway, as far I was concerned, his solos have turned to **** recently anyway. I don't use pedals, but Cliff's work with pedals in the early days was amazing. *And Jason had some cool Live solos with pedals.. Congratlutaions on 50 posts. |

there is one on www.launch.com ...its a kickass live video of metal militia live |
Every live show they tune to either Eb with some of the songs tuned further down like St. Anger and Seek and Destroy. The same applies for Load/Reload, Garage, Inc. and S&M.
but yes, the first five were pretty much all in standard |

finally! after 70 minutes i can have a conversation about metallica.
or maybe not i'll be back in 15 minutes |
i dont have any 'tallica dvds :upset:
|
get live **** it's awesome
there is actually a flaw with live **** in that the DVDs are incredibly quiet and you have to turn your TV to max to get a decent sound out of them but they're still great. S&Ms good too but you can get that in CD My favourite is a tie between Mexico City and Seattle although the San Diego one has a drum solo. |
i dont have any 'tallica dvds :upset:
same here :upset: |
you two should really get some. live ****'s not cheap but it's worth the money
Not on MX?
guess so, well laters I'll be back in a couple of hours, maybe  |
I have Cliff 'Em All, mostly because I play bass, and I love Cliff's stuff. Its not amazing quality, its just a bunch of clips from various shows, sometimes with bad sound quality, and especially with bad picture quality :) Still immensely cool. Bought it off Amazon, but I have to have a multi-region DVD player to play it here in the UK (lucky I've got one, eh?), as it was only made as an NTSC I think, not PAL.
|
when did they make it
'85? |

Ya the sound and picture quality is pretty bad for the most part but it's definitely a cool dvd worth picking up. :thumb: |
when did they make it
'85?
it came out in 87 after they got jason. the stuff is from different times throughout there career with cliff just stuff in random order. starts off in 86 then goest to 83 with dave mustiane then to 86 and all over the place. really really cool. |
is it about what cliff did for the band?
cliff did a lot for metallica. without cliff, metallica would probably not be going today. |
