So you're starring in a Minstrel show eh? Kind of offensive.

JonM 09-14-2005 11:25 PM

I didn't get into a cappella. So, I'm bummed, but part of me is thinking "why do you want to be in a cappella? You play an instrument!" And in an ironic twist of fate, I wrote an instrumental today. How bizarre.

Nothing wrong with being in a capella, I might be joining a vocal choir on Wednesday, my friend is giving me the music this weeked.

That was just bullshit to make myself feel better. I really, really wanted to do it.

I guess there's no point in this just sitting, stagnant and unmixed, on my computer. This is the demo of the second song I did with my friend Mike. There are no vocals, except for the talking in the introduction, and we're really happy with what we've got so far, even in its incomplete state. I promise you'll like this. I'm really, really proud of it, and it's not acoustic or folky.

Nice. The only thing I don't really like is the tone of your bass, but it suits the song so no problem. It does seem like a vocal sort of song though.

Reading all those furthers my conclusion that I am the most un-indie person in Alt/Indie.

I've heard OF a rather large chunk of those, and actually heard a smaller chunk.

Poser++.

I've heard about 70% of those.

Maybe they copied that list from somewhere else and put it on their profile. I mean think about it, couldn't I have done that with what I've copied and pasted right there? I could, and you would be powerless to stop me.

How could you have heard of Dan the Automator and not Prince Paul? Aren't they both in Handsome Boy Modeling School?

Anyway, I also see Fly Pan Am on there, which is funny because someone was complaining that they were the worst band on earth.

PS: Bartender's going to kill you if he finds out you haven't heard of The Beta Band.

Um, maybe Dan's done more than HBMS?

(like, lots lots more)

br3ad_man 09-15-2005 08:51 PM

Are you saying heard or heard of? I have had the opportunity to hear 93% of those bands, but I have not actually heard songs by all of them.

And I haven't heard Handsome Boy Modeling School.

ATM 09-15-2005 08:56 PM

It makes me happy to see Broadcast on there.

Luxor 09-15-2005 09:06 PM

I like how they write this completely massive list, containing probably 40 different genres or subgenres... Then at the end they put "etc."

Dredg are pretty amazing. Is Catch Without Arms a lot like the song "Bug Eyes"? Because that song is awesome. I only have El Cielo

I just got a mail from "The Mars Volta <fanclub@umrg.myreg.net>":
News
Tuesday, November 8th, the mars volta will release scabdates.

scabdates will feature renditions of Volta tracks recorded live over the course of 2003-2005 touring in support of this year's Frances The Mute and 2003's De-Loused In The Comatorium, drawn out to their epic, endurance-defying lengths, making for a 74-minute sampling of the Mars Volta live experience, with packaging featuring the photography of longtime Volta collaborator Danielle Van Ark. Scabdates was assembled, produced and mixed by Omar A Rodriguez-Lopez. All music by Omar A Rodriguez-Lopez, all lyrics by Cedric Bixler Zavala, and performed by The Mars Volta. The track listing for scabdates is as follows:

1. abrasions mount the timpani
2. take the veil cerpin taxt
3. a) gust of mutts
4. b) and ghosted pouts
5. caviglia
6. concertina
7. haruspex
8. cicatriz
9. a) pt I
10.b) pt II
11. c) pt III
12. d) pt IV
I've never heard of most of those songs. I guess you could always check out comatorium.com or the band's official website to see if any of this is true. Or just wait until November 8th!
