Are you serious...??

Have you even watched Live Sh*t??
Ah, I really want to see that. I can't find it anywhere in my town though.

Do you guys think Metallica would be better or worse if Lars were an excellent drummer, and added all kinds of complicated fills and rhythm?

Andrue 02-08-2005 08:33 PM

Metal & Metallica

Favorite song stuff....

I never really liked heavy metal music until one day I caught the video for Enter sandman on mtv (i think). I am seriously scared of falling and that video just locked the song in my head for a bit.

After hearing it a bit more I decided to listen to other albums. I didn't like any of the other albums up to that point but like Load & Reload. Hero of the day is another of my favorites.

I hadn't thought about playing any metallica until about 2 weeks ago I relistened to reload and decided Slither was something I liked and could handle.

I don't really like any other metal bands other than Metallica, they seem to be getting better.

stuck in load years

poor poor man

metal_milita 02-08-2005 09:01 PM

Gotta question lots of you will find funny.

Did Metallica ever make an unreleased song called "Pain for Pleasure" that was taken by Sum41??

I read on a site that it was credited to them, but PFP has been a Sum41 song (to public)

Dumbass question about what you may find a dumbass band, but all the same, I just want to know. PFP was what I thought Sum41's greatest metal achievement, so it seems big to me.

Fernandes Power 02-08-2005 09:10 PM

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Andrue 02-08-2005 09:11 PM

Stuck in "load years"... well, that's actually an upgrade from normally being stuck in the 70's which is really where I usually am.

My first response to you was going to be:
"Saying Metallica is getting better is closed minded because that is your opinion. Metallica was better in the 80s."

Then I realized how hypocritical that was.

Just realize that saying "they're getting better" is only by your standards. They are in fact "Metallica" not "Alternativica". I like those albums myself, but they don't really do Metallica they're justice.

I command u to go buy there first 4 cds. Listen to them front to back dont skip the song if you dont like the intro. I guarentee u will come back and be like "slither is probly one of the worst of metallicas songs"

Ive met people that like there new stuff but never before have i seen anyone that doesnt like there old stuff if they like them at all.

u have to understand that OLD METALLICA = BEST MUSIC ON PLANET EARTH!

Votes are nothing but opinions.
You're dyslexic, right?
No, he just doesn't like same songs as you.
Do you guys think Metallica would be better or worse if Lars were an excellent drummer, and added all kinds of complicated fills and rhythm?
No.

Drumming doesn't make a song sound totally different. If you add a simple or complex beat, the song's melody and such will still be the same. I think lars' playing fits metallica perfectly. It's nothing crazy as in dragonforce, but it's alot more complex than pop punk bands.

WTF?

I listened to all metallica's albums, and I must say I like st. anger more than load, and reload. I like black album more than any others. Aww, **** it, just shoot me because I like newer and older metallica stuff. I forgot it's forbidden to like newer metallica.

Just because you think old Tallica is unmatched, dosen't mean its the best music on the planet, its just an opinion.

I never said that u cant like there new stuff im just saying that there old stuff is better. I liked st.anger too a lot better than load/reload.

And i guess i should consider black to be there old stuff to i just never got real into it.

Andrue 02-08-2005 09:37 PM

I currently have these:
Master of puppets
Ride the lightning
Kill 'em all
The black one
Load
Reload

Not dislexic, getting better is my opinion only based on what I usually listen to.
I will review the other cd's and see what I missed the first time through them.

Yes, but just because you like older tallica more than newer doesn't mean it's best of metallica, or best music on the planet for that matter. I mean I can find a person that likes newer tallica more than older, so his opinion would be the opposite of yours. Nobody's wrong here, there is just no best music. It's all opinions and what you like or not.

123. Opinions don't make it the best music on the planet.

Of course it's more complicated than pop punk. I never said it had to be anything crazy like Dragonforce, I just think it would be cool if he added some more complicated stuff. The drumming obviously wouldn't change the melody, it would just add another element to the song, which could be cool.

ThrashMaster27 02-08-2005 10:03 PM

I agree, kind of. The Drumming in the first 3 albums is amazingly simplistic, especially in Kill 'Em All. It matters little though as it keeps the Rhythm together and sounds alright. It would be nice if he used complicated stuff now and again, but is he capable?

Freezing Moon 02-08-2005 10:10 PM

He probably could be, I was just wondering what it would be like if he had added complex drumming though, not necessarly if he could.

ThrashMaster27 02-08-2005 10:13 PM

Oh I know, but I'm considering stuff like Dyers Eve which he couldn't actually play. I'm not trying to put him down as a Drummer, even though I don't think he's very good...but anyway, yeah I think it would be interesting if he did try something complex in his Drumming, but not something different! Don't want the St. Anger garbage can Drumming again.

HeRoOfThEdAy1589 02-08-2005 10:15 PM

im not sure if i sent out my message a while back. i know i wrote it....im jsut not sure if i sent it.....but if i did you guys already saw it, if i didnt, well here it is again.....metallica fans are signing a petition to get rid of bob rock 'n hopefully change metallica's minds. now i dont mind bob rock cuz i like load/re-load n yes...a lil of st anger. but i wouldnt be sad to see him go. yes he produced the black album..great album but its not a MASTER OF PUPPETS. so yeah thats my thought on this. oh yeah...BRING BACK FLEMMING!

Yeah, I heard they had to record Dyer's Eve in pieces because Lars couldn't do it for the whole song. I don't think he's great either, but he does keep the beat. I still think it would be cool if he did and was capable of doing some cool complex stuff.

We saw it, we just didn't care.

willis2441 02-08-2005 10:27 PM

lars has no accentation on his hats,he has never had a lesson, hes not very good at double bass(besides those stupid little flams with his feet before he hits the snare),he never incorperates double bass into his beats, overall he is about a 6 on a scale of 1-10,but hey, hes better than me!

He did find the right thread "newb." He didn't create an entire new one where you can flame him.
Or what is the search button going to lead him directly to the page where it was last discussed (~500). If your gonna try to burn someone, at least it makes sense dip****.
Some peoples attempts at "pwning" or w/e the fuck you call it is sad

Both of you are pretty new, and so am I. Don't call people "n00b" until you aren't one yourself. Just be nice and help him out. Willis, sorry but that earns some - rep. Redeem yourself by not being a jackass, and I'll + you later.

Back to Metallica.

How did you get into Metallica in the first place?

I was into punk, and I needed something more challenging to play. Metallica seemed like the way to go, because I had heard some of it through my friends. I went out and bought RTL, and just went further into metal from there.

metal_milita 02-08-2005 11:00 PM

I got into Metallica through St. Anger, so I'm an embarassment to real metallica fans lol but I don't care, I can play almost all their songs (attempts) and know almost as much as them.

rock_star_malky 02-08-2005 11:09 PM
