mean girls is a very awesome movie.
"and on the third day, God gave man the Remington X rifle so that he could fight the dinosaurs....and the homosexuals. amen." |
Oh ahem yes, I did quite. It was all me.
:D :shifty: Okay you rowdy pack of righteous dudes, it is time for Blues Ensemble, but I shall return!! Laters. |
...Does that make more sense?
Yeah, actually it does. Thanks for the explanation. |
So, here we go.
Over 4000 additives are present in each cigarette. Most of these are natural products, but a few, namely Hydrogen Cyanide, Carbon Monoxide and Ammonia are very dangerous, even in small doses (>0.01mg). And sure, these bad elements are destroyed in the body, but in the same way that radioactive isotopes of Uranium, etc are destroyed in your body. Also, smoking doesn't just cause lung cancer. It cause haemorrhages in many vital organs, including the eyes. It causes extreme migraines in many people, due to the toxins released throughout the body. Of course, prolonged exposure to second-hand smoke is damaging in a visible way, but try running a marathon after you've inhaled even a few minutes of second-hand smoke. The destruction that the free radicals have done to the pockets of air in your lungs will be apparent.
Okay, so it hurts you a bit. I never wanted to run a marathon anyway. Hey, I don't drive a car, don't plan to, but I still have to breathe aaaaall that pollution and you're not gonna tell me that years of smoke from millions of cars is harmless. Yeah, maybe cars are necessary, but not for me, but I don't go up to automobile chauffeurs and spit them in their face and treat them like gangsters, even though a lot of them could take the tram. My main point is: Stop being such a faggots about everything.
This is true, a large amount of revenue is generated by taxing the cigarette companies.
Thanks, mate.
This is just silly.
Yeah, that wasn't entirely serious.
Turning the argument around doesn't make yours any less ungrounded.
In your eyes, ungrounded. <-<
Cars are quite clean compared to cigarette smoke. Especially modern cars. And Carbon Monoxide kills by asphyxiation, not poisoning. It's a peaceful death.
Riiight, that's much better.
The economy wouldn't crash in America. You are overestimating the significance of tobacco on the overall economy of America and underestimating the significance of an unburdened healthcare system.
It wouldn't do it any good, if it doesn't crash, it will get a very heavy blow, regardless. And come on, America hardly even has a healthcare system. Dang republicans. That's why they put tax on tobacco, to recuperate some money.
I don't want everyone to live to grow 90 years old, but I'd like to see more research and treatment done in the health problems listed below and many others.
Fair enough. But it's still up to people if they wanna smoke or not, and just because YOU would like to see it differently, doesn't mean they have to obey you, cool as you are. I'd like to see it differently too, I don't plan to smoke my whole life, I'm not *that* stupid.
This is a ludicrous example...Doctors and nurses are already overworked to begin with (all the patients suffering from smoking related problems are actually making that problem much worse). But if, somehow they weren't so busy, wouldn't you rather have them researching how to stop actually tragic disorders and ailments like genetic childhood disorders, cancer, neurological disabilities, etc and treating those who suffer from them?
Come on, bitch, you know that wasn't serious. :p
I would support a ban on unhealthy food since it has also a burdening effect on healthcare (albeit, a much smaller one compared to tobacco), but it's a lot easier to educate than prohibit.
Ok, fine, at least you're being consistent. But I doubt that every anti-smoker would say the same. *
shrug* The healthcare system in America has never reported an significant issue with the automobile exhaust...Which is something impossible to statistically track and analyze anyway.
Nope, because oil is muy importante!, maybe. So yeah, you can't really check it, so let's just pick on something that we don't do, right?
American automobiles have become very highly regulated by environmental protection agencies, so the pollution produced from them has decreased drastically in recent years
Yeah, and the US refused to participate in the Kyoto deal because they already pollute so little that they didn't deem it necessary, right? RIIIIIIGHT. /tired i need a cig lol |
Yeah, actually it does.
Thanks for the explanation.
Phew...I'm so happy when I don't confuse people =) |
all this "education" still doesn't do much. i doubt it would turn a heavy smoker into an enthusiastic anti-smoker just because he now knows what damage it does. people are stubborn like that. i know i haven't quit yet and i've been hearing these same things from my family and friends for a while.

That's because you don't notice it immediately, if your teeth turned yellow from it after a few cigarettes, not many people would do it. |

Education is like a traditional vaccine...It's meant to prevent, not stop what's already there. Besides, all the education in the world can't stop someone who is plain stupid. And the incredible addictive factor of nicotine doesn't help either :) |
And if it wasn't for car emissions, we'd be all entering another ice-age.
And if it wasn't for car emissions, we'd be all entering another ice-age.
And black metal would get such a revival! |
hey isn't your avatar that lady who turned herself into a man for 18 months and dated girls to feel "empowered."
who are you talking to? |
Smoking: girls hate smoking (the girls I know, at least) so I don't do it (anymore). Period.
State of the Union: That's what I love about ESPN, you can always get a half-decent basketball game when you need one. |
Smoking, I don't do it because it smells bad and is gross. Have you ever wiped off a table that was near someone that just smoking in that area? It's dirty in like 5 seconds. I definately don't want that **** in my body.
