Don't waste your time with '' Are You Dead Yet? ''. Start with Follow the Reaper, Hatebreeder. Every song on those albums is very very good. and memorable too. No matter what their new fans say, these two albums defined the good old COB sound. Hatecrew Deathroll was good, but in a way began their journey towards loosing originality. oh and Something Wild (1st one) is just about as good as Hatebreeder or Follow the Reaper, but its got less songs on it... so i'd get it after. |

Really? You want to find me an album or band that sounds like HCDR and AYDY? I'm waiting. AYDY grows on you alot over time. Living Dead Beat, AYDY, Bastards Of Bodom and We're not gonna fall are some of Bodom's greats. I count TL&S as off the EP, BTW. Hate Crew Deathroll has some of their best and worst. Sixpounder, Chokehold, Bodom Beach Terror, Angels Don't Kill, Triple Corpse Hammerblow all top notch. Lil Bloodred Ridin Hood and Your Better Off Dead are good but not great. Needled 24-7 despite the great soloing in it, both keys and guitar. It's over played, over whored, and get's old after a while. HCDR title track is somewhat boring, except it's great live. |

:thumb: :thumb: Two thumbs up!
QFT! That was really awsome man. You nailed the pinch harmonics, perfectly. :thumb: You working on the solos?
:) Thankyou sir.
Welcome |
Yeah, I know them both now, I just need to get them up tooo speed.
The 2nd is going to be hard. |

What kind of guitar and amp did you play that on? I'm working on Dream Theater's "This Dying Soul", hopefully I can have the solo at the beginning down within a week or two...If I get enough time in on it. Then start on the rest of the song. |

I'm not actually familiar with that song but I'll give it a listen. It's good to hear that you've started guitar back up again. :thumb: Jackson RR-1 - Nearly the same as Alexi's Wildchild one. = nice! Funny though, after quiting the song, I can play the part I couldn't get down perfect, perfectly now. Go Figure. I learned Sixpounder but skipped the pinch harmonics and solos. I can't do pinch harmonics for shit. I'll learn the solo backing some time so I know the whole thing. Your Sixpounder > Mine By alot. I still need to try the passage to the reaper tab, that Ben sent out. EDIT: That Jackson is sweet. *drools* |
I also experience that, where you leave a song you can't play, then go back and you can, it's weird but satisfying.
Yer Sixpounder rules. Maybe I shud record Passage to the Reaper too, even though I don't know it yet. |

I'll try passage to the reaper tonight since the tab is really short. If I have an easy time, it won't be much to learn. What's everyones favorite stupid moment of themself playing? I have to go with learning Raining Blood from Slayer...When I was first learning guitar and finally being able to play a lil. I tried to only downpick the fast riff after the beginning walkdown. That didn't work well. It resulted in sore hand/wrist/arm. Alot of them. :p I then learned to down/up-up/down pick. haha...I can double pick for ages and don't have dead arms hahahaha. |
tone kind of makes me mad sometimes.
|
WOW! That Sixpounder cover is... well... lets simply say a lot better than me... I can play all the parts you did, but in this video I tried to sum some of it up really quick because of the lack of recording time I have. I can sort of play the second solo, but I need to warm up for like 2 hours haha. Anyway, I will put myself to shame by putting this up. This is a corney video of me kinda like an 80's wanna be Alexi...

lol \m/ Rockin' out there man!
|
Haha, yeah. I am a bit corney and lame at times, but I can deffinately get into a mood to play no matter how bad it is. It's like... being guitar-horney hahaha. Wow. Yeah, something like that. I rarely play standing up, but that's the best I can do standing so far... I need to start standing playing more Bodom because I have been weak with standing.
|
Standing when practising is pretty important to me, especially if you play live, you should be able to play solos the same sitting and standing. Saying that, I don't do it near enough but still, I have my guitar pretty high anyway.
4,000 posts btw. |

I just took a shot at recording with audacity and nearly threw my wireless mouse out the window....
I could play raining blood just fine before i tried to record...then the momemt i start... i manage to **** it up at every possible point. mostly starting badly and getting worse. Main reason I kept ****ing up with how distracted I was. I think really worse though was that I couldn't hear what I was playing. Not on the amp or audacity. We all know electric guitars are quiet as hell with no amp. So I'd think I have good timing and then play it back and I'd be like WTF was that. |

Me playing Sixpounder... http://s54.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=202PJ19C7JUKJ0BHUH3HZKSWS0
Quite honestly it was hard to tell...I had trouble hearing many parts... It sounded good from what I could hear well though. The pinch harmonics were solid. |
Eh, thanks people. Yeah, audio in a digital camera sucks a lot. I am trying to improve on it a bit. It sounds so much better when I am sitting down and focused. I am working on Angels Don't Kill, but that song is so hard for some reason... I can play Sixpounder just fine, but the one song I want to learn most is ADK... I think I just need better backing track for it because Guitar Pro 5 isn't sounding any better... the keyboards sound pretty dumb.

I always play standing up.
Of course a few minutes ago when I tried to record I was sitting and ****ed up a ton. I actually play much better standing up, prolly because I always play standing. Any tips for recording with audacity? My problem was I couldn't hear what I was playing. Not on the computer nor the amp. Then I play it back when I stop and I have wrong timing...almost as if it's a different song wrong...bad notes... and w/e because I can't hear what I'm playing. Therefor no way to gauge what I'm doing. I play fine with the volume on....I of course also played perfect before I tried recording and after I stopped. Go Figure. I looked for some way to turn the volume on when playing so I could hear what I'm doing. I didn't see a way though. |

While the topic of "help" is on... uh... does anyone know of any free recording software that's decent? All I am looking for is something to download which will let me record things WHILE it's mixing with another file... like for example... I open up a backing track, and as the backing track plays, it lets me record over it. If anyone knows of anything like that and could tell me I would greatly appreciate it.

Garageband.
Mac users only though. :p You can do that with Audacity as well though. Just import what you want, and click record. You'll start recording with whatever's imported playing in the background. Garageband has horrid amp emulators though. I got mad pissed at it. Now, we had to send our preamp box back too, so I don't get to test out our shiny new M-Audio Solaris condenser mic. |
