Can someone reccomend me what Neurosis album to get?
I love the song "Souls at Zero".
I believe that is a title track, so you could just get that album.

peacesells1256 05-19-2005 06:30 PM

can someone recomend me some Death?

LeperAffinity 05-19-2005 06:42 PM

Anything by Death is good. If you want straight up death metal, "Scream Bloody Gore", "Leprosy", or "Spiritual Healing". Progressive death metal, "Human", "Symbolic", or "Individual Thought Patterns". And for straight up progressive metal with a very slim death influence, "Sound of Perseverance".

Dude3 05-19-2005 08:35 PM

What would you guys say is a better Isis album to get?
Oceanic,
or,
Panopticon???
Thanks.

MAthiAS 05-19-2005 08:48 PM
can someone recomend me some Death?
Human's probably the best overall, its both very progressive and heavy, its really an amazing album with sick riffage. The Sound of Perseverance and Symbolic are great progressive death albums, still with their "in your face" moments though. All out aggression with less complexity? Scream Bloody Gore is the way to go.

Oceanic is a bit heavier but basically, get what's cheaper because you can't go wrong with either. Panopticon's songs have a tendency to be a bit longer than they need to be.

Someone recommend me some Black Label Society or any other similar bands. I heard the song suicide messiah and it was good. Also what genre are they?

j_brown_12 05-21-2005 04:59 AM

can someone recommend some songs by vader?

The Cynic 05-21-2005 08:04 PM
Here's my prediciment. I am new to Black Metal (meaning I have heard very little) but am open to almost anything. So I was searching around and on centurymedia.com, I saw these Emperor albums for only $5 each.

Wrath Of The Tyrant
In The Nightside Eclipse
Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk
IX Equilibrium

Which should I get?
Honestly, I wouldn't get ir from century media. I ordered COB's Something Wild in Feb and it's May and I still havn't gotten it. As for the actual question, IX Equliburium is my personal favorite, but that's just my opinion.

What genre are Nevermore, and recommendations for them? Also whats a good Vader album to start with?
What genre are Nevermore, and recommendations for them? Also whats a good Vader album to start with?
Nevermore is like Death Metal, but with a good amount of melody. That's what I considor them.

Also, I have a Vader album if you'd like it. (This is Josh by the way).

Nevermore is so far away from death metal it's not even funny...

Don't even speak if you don't know ok?

A little help: Any recommendations for Southern metal/sludge type bands. Those genres really suck so any bands that sound like the following:
Corrosion of Conformity
Down
Clutch
Early Grand Magus
and the likes..

Bartender 05-22-2005 04:26 PM

You might like Halfway to Gone. Maybe Nashville Pussy too, though I think they're a little poppier. I can do some uploads for them, if you like. I would recommend bands that seem to be associated with that whole area of music, like Crowbar, but I'm loathe to recommend something I've not heard.

I like those bands too, so you may like Danzig...although you probably know/are into them already.

Orange Goblin, good band, probably know of them already as well though.

Alabama Thunderpussy maybe worth a look into as well.

OH OH! LaMont!

Bartender 05-22-2005 04:29 PM

Oh yeah, Orange Goblin. I should really whore them more (and buy more of them).

They don't really have a southern sound, I think, but they fit in the general area, so yeah. Good band.

munky_magik 05-22-2005 04:30 PM

Orange Goblin I already have some stuff by, I just forgot to mention :p Same with Eyehategod incase anyone is about to suggest them.

I'll check out Danzig, thanks :)

I have some Crowbar stuff, and although they're classed as sludge/doom I don't really see the resembelance between them and COC/other sludge bands. Grand Magus are classed as doom as well for some reason, even though only their second album only hints at it at certain palces. This is why I hate these Genre names :)

Bartender 05-22-2005 04:33 PM

I think Crowbar get shoved in there because of their connection to Down.

3rdplanet 05-22-2005 04:33 PM

Orange Goblin rock so hard, their gig at the Academy 2 got cancelled though because not enough tickets were sold. Criminal :(

They moved it to the Bar @ Academy though so everything was ok.

I can upload a song or two by Danzig if you would like me to.

EDIT: She Rides - Danzig

Not a fave of mine, but all I can get uploaded right now.

PS, Crowbar I do not like...

MAthiAS 05-22-2005 04:38 PM

Again, asking for Nevermore recommendations.

munky_magik 05-22-2005 04:45 PM

Some Danzig tracks would be great.
Silly Genres, I wish they would sort themselves out

Black Label Society are classed as Southern Metal as well, But I already have stuff by them.
I guess stoner rock is kinda related to this sound as well so would Kyuss, being one of those bands that I've always meant to check out but never quite got around to, have a similiar-ish sound?

Bartender 05-22-2005 04:49 PM

Yes, and if you like them, then;

The Awesome Machine
Mannhai
Nebula
Fu Manchu, maybe.
Maybe also Hangnail, though they're only alright.

EDIT: Though I said I was loathe to recommend things I'd not heard much by - Hermano. And probably almost everything else that Give Me Beer recommends.

Iai 05-22-2005 04:55 PM
Again, asking for Nevermore recommendations.
The River Dragon Has Come
Dreaming Neon Black
The Sounds Of Silence (Simon & Garfunkel cover - no, I'm not kidding)
Deconstruction
Beyond Within
Believe In Nothing
Insignificant
Narcosynthesis

Enemies Of Reality (the album) had awful production, and the material wasn't up to their usual standards, so stay away from that. Dreaming Neon Black and Dead Heart In A Dead World are both definitely worth a look though.

Bartender 05-22-2005 04:58 PM

If I didn't really like Narcosynthesis, is there much chance I would like other things by them?

3rdplanet 05-22-2005 04:58 PM

I second Hermano. And the Give me Beer point.

Thanks for the recommendations and upload :)

Um.....not really. :-/

You might like their slower stuff, like Believe In Nothing.

Converse 05-23-2005 02:33 PM

Best Slayer albums. Anyone help ?

Deth 05-23-2005 02:55 PM

Reign in Blood is the most well known, and flows best as an album, but I prefer Seasons In The Abyss because the individual songs are better.

But damn, Reign in Blood is fast.
