A good song (though very overrated) to play is Enter Sandman. Everyone knows that song

Gernm18 03-16-2004 05:39 PM

my band covered creeping death and we played it in our school last december and like 15 people chanted die it was pretty cool

i'd say play blackened , and headbang as ****! people will like that

UnknowN Doodl3 03-16-2004 05:51 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong but if one were to move around too much on stage, he would look like an idiot, right?

YDload 03-16-2004 06:29 PM

I would play "Creeping Death" because there are a lot of Metallica posers at my school who would know what to do. Nothing against Metallica, but I'm sure you've seen just from this thread alone that many of its fans are a little... dumb.

hex135 03-16-2004 07:16 PM
very well said. Load/Reload were great "hard rock" albums anyway you look at them. Vocally some of James best range and actually singing took place on those albums, lyrically songs like "bleeding me" and "fixxxer" were incredible, Kirk wrote more bluesy leads and shorter solos to fit the music better rather than show off, you could hear Jason's bass, and above all the song writing was top knotch. What diverse albums, no two songs followed a similar path. The riffage was heavy, listen to the intro to 2X4 or the chorus on Aint my Bitch, those are just great. Speed dosent make a band heavy, its how its played. Load and Reload are probley the two Metallica albums i can honestly say i still listen to.
except for the last part, i totally agree, nicely said.

(i still listen to the first 5 metallica albums almost regularly. )

T-Web 03-16-2004 07:23 PM

I have all metallicas except load and i would say that reload isnt there best but it is far from being their worst.

xDeViAnTx 03-16-2004 07:52 PM
who said it was their best?
their best album had to be and justice and S&M
I agree, justice is my favourite album.

A lot of people seem to think that S&M meant they were selling out. I never got that... why is releasing a live album selling out?

Ham 'n Eggs123 03-16-2004 08:47 PM

Yeah, I agree with what most people said on here about Load and Reload being good albums. Its funny because i've heard so many people flaming these albums but I never thought they were that bad.

Gernm18 03-17-2004 01:04 AM

the people who flame them are usually narrowminded thrashers people who cant deal with the fact that metallica changed musically

i agree those albums arent as good as the old ones but they certainly are better than many new bands

xtreme_skatah 03-17-2004 04:21 AM

I'd got with Blackened. If you were gonna play the intro to it as well. Thats's got such a kickass intro. I reckon if you want poeple to join in or do do stuff with you, i'd go for Creeping Death.

RideTheSpiral 03-17-2004 07:25 AM
Wow ... there are so many metallica threads on this board !
Newsflash!

Joeeddstealschickens 03-17-2004 09:02 AM

S&M is great,if lacking a few important songs.Puppets is the best, but i reckon load is full of bland blues-rock.Some songs are good,i.e outlaw torn and bleeding me,but they are better on S&M

superpeer 03-17-2004 09:46 AM

S&M's setlist is great, nothing to complain about, no need for the same song every time :)

UnknowN Doodl3 03-17-2004 03:31 PM

Battery on S&M is so nice. Especially when the main riff comes in. My mom hates what I listen to, cause its too fast and heavy for her. So what I did was ask her to listen to a very smooth, slow moving song. So I made her listen to Fith Fire with fire. ;)

NoHero9 03-17-2004 03:49 PM

I listen to Load and Re-load every day. I love both.

superpeer 03-17-2004 04:08 PM

I listen to RTL alot.

PURESlipKnoTFaN 03-17-2004 05:07 PM

i've liked Metallica since i was 8 years old (14 in april)

UnknowN Doodl3 03-17-2004 05:09 PM

^Yeah me too. I even listen to rtl a bit more than Mop.

dougefresh 03-17-2004 05:22 PM

I can't stand Load or Reload... I like a few songs off them (King Nothing, Fuel) but I usually only listen to RtL, MoP, and sometimes AJFA

Gernm18 03-17-2004 06:54 PM

i listen to justice more than any other album

i just cant get enough of blackened, ajfa, dyers eve, one, eye of the beholder, shortest straw, to live is to die, harvester of sorrow and the frayed ends of sanity

all the songs in that album are awesome my favorite's gotta be blackened or dyers eve or to live is to die

dougefresh 03-17-2004 07:07 PM

RtL is great... Bunch of songs about death. Creeping Death has to be the coolest

trem7 03-17-2004 07:37 PM

in my opinion i prefer the old albums over most of their new ones like rtl and kill em all and mop and load anf reload but i really dislike the symphony in S&M because in my honest opinion i think it ruins a good thing

Facsimile 03-18-2004 05:24 AM
in my opinion i prefer the old albums over most of their new ones like rtl and kill em all and mop and load anf reload
What do you mean Load and Reload are old ones?

borisdablade 03-18-2004 05:55 AM

S&M remains my favourite metallica album, it was my first and so i have a soft spot for it. Most of the songs lent themselves to the symphony very well, the symphony coulda been a bit more restrained for MOP and sad but true didnt really work but the rest is brilliant. Even when i hear the studio version of battery i find myself humming the string arrangements.

Has anyone heard apocolyptica - four cellos plays metallica? Its brilliant. They actually play the one solo, tapping and all on a cello (which is a fretless instrument if im not mistaken). Fade to black isnt on the album, but they have done it on another cd and man it really takes the song to a new level. That song would have been just amazing with the symphony.

superpeer 03-18-2004 10:29 AM

I have two albums by apocalyptica, they're very good.

trem7 03-18-2004 11:36 AM
What do you mean Load and Reload are old ones?
i meant older sorry like before jason left and rob came. and james became sober. it's kinda funny i think, they had amazing albums and then james stopped drinking and i find they went downhill.

just my opinion

NoHero9 03-18-2004 11:37 AM

isn't beating a dead horse fun?

ATC 03-18-2004 12:52 PM

apocalyptica is wicked..anyone who can play a fast guitar solo on a cello deserves your respect.

SlaveToTheGrind 03-18-2004 01:24 PM
isn't beating a dead horse fun?
yes it is

ATC 03-18-2004 01:42 PM

reincarnating a dead horse and sodomizing it might be even more fun.

NoHero9 03-18-2004 01:43 PM

^^^I know that all too well.......................

but really, saint anger is old news, who wants to hear it. but that addicted to chaos comment gave me an Idea:
someone take the dead horse that is St. anger, and make a cover song of one of the tracks and we will all have anal sex with it. (or just say it sucks)

Farbio 03-18-2004 02:32 PM

I know I may be one of the few but I really enjoy St. Anger. I have heard alot about the production concerning the quality of the drum sound, guitar sound and overall feel. But I think this album is still a worth-while listen. As for the other albums Metallica my favorites include of course their self-entitled master-piece.

sacrifice93.2 03-18-2004 02:34 PM

^^^^^Thou art an idiot
1) St. Anger is about as creative as whenever Lars Ulrich farts
2) Metallica's masterpiece was the Master of Puppets album

Farbio 03-18-2004 02:39 PM

Alright...incidently I only named ONE of their master-pieces. I guess I can see how that might be confusing buts it ok. Secondly, you aren't the first to tell me that you think St. Anger is crappola on a stick so please save your breath.

superpeer 03-18-2004 03:46 PM
^^^^^Thou art an idiot

Opinion?

wheelsbolivar 03-18-2004 04:47 PM

ya that was pointless, just like this run on sentence that i just typed.

soundcheckxx 03-18-2004 05:37 PM

I liked st. anger

but I have a gut feeling that the next metallica album is going to kick all of us right in the A$$

Gernm18 03-18-2004 05:54 PM

^^^ i hope so i really do

UnknowN Doodl3 03-18-2004 06:16 PM

^I also hope so. But i'm not getting my hopes too high, just in case.

If it is the album we are waiting for, I can't wait to see the reaction of every metallica hater in this forum.

dougefresh 03-18-2004 07:36 PM

*hopes to see Metallica in the Summer*

if they're coming to Detroit
