I've read both Tom and Warren claiming to be Anarchists, and James saying that he was not. Tom said he doesn't want to be in an 'Anarchist band' because "there is a lot of baggage that comes with that" and that he doesn't think everyone in the band is an Anarchists and therefor can't speak for them.
|
It doesn't matter if they're anarchists or not, they went directly against what they stood for.
|
Eh but they were a PlanitX band and isn't there alot of Anarchy bands on that label?
|
I would say a lot of the people who are in bands on that label have some anarchist ideals.

I wouldn't say a lot, as there are many bands on the label who just make music about the general things you make music about, love, life, friends, etc. Some bands have a sprinkling of politics, but none are completely political. Riot-folk on the other hand goes almost completely political, added to the fact none of them are really that good, is what makes me dislike the label. |

Sometimes, in life, things happen to you that make your ideas and feelings change. I don't think they are becoming money orientated or anything, I think that as musicians, they want to expand, and continue to grow. |
Not when they were Anarchists.
If they are now? They're defiently not the next Chumba.
Please tell me what happened with that band Chumbawanba? Everybody is talking about them going mainstream and then back again. I know they did tubthumping, but what happened after that? |

Before Tubthumpin they were an anarcho band. When they put out Tubthumpin on a major label, everyone (especially those in the anarcho scene) called out sellout. Apparently though they donated all the profits from Tubthumpin to chairty. After that album they left EMI and went back singing about anarchy, adopting a more poppy sound, and eventually a folk sound with two of their latest albums. |

I have no idea, I know it was discussed before, but I don't remember.
Something anti-Nike keeps coming to mind, but I'm not sure. |
I can't believe i still don't have the The Disco before the breakdown ep, i was gonna buy it after the show, but they sold out.
Could someone quickly ysi it please ? |

Haha, I didn't knew that, thanks. Pretty awesome, since they kind og pwnd the anarco scene then. |
I don't think they were ever really 'anarachists' to begin with, they were just DIY punks. Only song that ever mentioned anarchy was a satire.
From the chorus of national myth "When all I cry for is anarchy when all I plea for is to be free" Oh and there baby I'm an anarchist. I dunno about the rest of the band but I think tom was an anarchist, he has that crass patch on his jacket, well had, not sure if its still there. Its the jacket hes wearing on the cover of cowboy. Something along the lines of "The nature of your oppression is the aesthetic of our anger." |
Baby, I'm an Anarchist is satire. And wearing a crass patch doesn't make you an anarchist.
|

Like David Rovics - I'm A Better Anarchist Than You. That song was good. "I don't have sex, and there will be no sequel/Because heterosexual relationships are inherently unequal/I'll just keep on moshing, to Rancid and the Clash/'Til there is no more difference between gender, race or class/All you other breeders you just haven't got a clue/I'm a better anarchist than you." |
I bet i've had 5 posts that have said this exact thing before, but i need to say it again.
Jordan's First Choice on the Acoustic EP is 10000 times better then it is on RAR. There. |
I agree man, i love the acoustic version so much.
|
I should hear it (Read: Someone should megaupload/YSI it to me, because I can't connect to slsk).
|
The song or the ep ?
Got aim ? |
I agree man, i love the acoustic version so much.
I think that Pints of Guiness is also much, much better than it is on RAR. But the song Reinventing Axl Rose is better on the album than the EP. opinions, opinions. |

I like both at different times.
I go through phases of what I like and don't like with Against Me! One week I'll love ATEC, the next is Crime. Blahblahblah. |
No way, Pints of guinness is 10000000 x better on RAR.
Reinvenitn Axl Rose is equal though. |
Hang on, is there two different versions of Pints Of Guiness Make You Stong?
|
yeah, on the acoustic ep, yeah.
|
I think that Pints of Guiness is also much, much better than it is on RAR.
But the song Reinventing Axl Rose is better on the album than the EP. opinions, opinions.
I completley disagree. I think the Acoustic version of 'Pints...' is waaaaaaay worse than the RAR version. The energy just isn't there, and there is not as stong of a melody. And I like both version of 'Reinventing' equally, they are both great but in different ways. |
Good man ^^
Exactly on Pints of guinness, its boring acoustic. It needs the speed and the AND JUST LIKE JAMES I'LL BE DRINKING IRISH TONIGHT! bit where it all stops and goes into the chorus etc. |
I like the acoustic, but the whole feeling of the song is in the RAR version.
The acoustic EP is fuc'king awesome as a whole though. |
So, I'm sitting here listening to 'Tom Gable Live at C.O.R.E.', and it is ****ING AMAZING!!! 'Untitled 2' is one of the most amazing songs ever heard and the version of 'Those Anarcho Punks Are Mysterious...' blows me away. Truly an amazing set by Tom.

Is is absolutely amazing. My favorite AM! bootleg and probably my favorite 'album'. Untitled 2 is my favorite AM! song ever as well. The lyrics are so good. My slsk is Skrunnch and I have a bunch of bootlegs/vids everything if anyone wants it. Message me first. eDIT: 'We did it all for Don' is absolutely haunting on this too. Gives me the chills everytime I hear it. |
Eric has a huge AM! penis.
|
Yeah my AM! penis is pretty big isn't it.
|
Slighty bigger than my Two Gallants penis, but not as big as my DK penis.
|
I wouldn't do such a thing.
