Conversation With the Devil is not on album base. Some of his other albums are though.

raus 10-24-2006 09:41 PM

Conversation With the Devil is his best, but if they don't have it get Horns & Halos. It's with Equipto. It sounds pretty differnet from Conversation, but it's still hella good.

ATM 10-24-2006 10:14 PM

I'll see what I can find.

Rams 10-24-2006 10:31 PM

Another tale about that yayo.

Hells Kitchen sucked.

pixiesfanyo 10-24-2006 10:55 PM

Another person that thinks llello is spelled yayo

Robert Crumb 10-25-2006 01:42 AM

It's been phonetically co-opted by English speakers.

Ayo for Yayo is the one song that everyone hears and jocks the shit out of Nickatina for. Not even close to his best. But we don't agree on anything, so there's no sense in arguing about it.

ATM 10-25-2006 09:13 AM

I actually liked that Nickatina album. I found Horns and Halos. Pretty cool stuff.

raus 10-25-2006 10:08 AM

Look for Conversation With the Devil next, it's pretty weird and it's one of my favorites. I can send it on AIM sometime if you want.

I like the song, but Hells Kitchen is one of the worst albums out there. I haven't heard any of his other stuff, so I haven't passed judgement yet.

upload it to the mailing list por favor

Dancin' Man 10-26-2006 12:05 AM

Dr. Octagon performs at my school on Thursday. I'm psyched.

Anyone who doesn't already know, check out Dungeon Family. It's a sick supergroup from Atlanta. Look them up on Wikipedia for a full memberlist.

Eliminator 10-26-2006 05:28 AM

It would be sweet to see doc oc perform.

That Lady Sovereign single, Love Me or Hate Me, plays on MTV2 everyday before I go to school, so it's pretty much in my head every day. I'm actually sort of looking foward to that release.

Any other opinions?

Any time a "super group" has OutKast as their main feauture they are less than super.

OutKast are awesome, but the rest of the group is not. No OutKast dissin' please.

And seriously, all OutKast dissing should be banned from this thread. Thanks.

Goodie Mob (including Cee-Lo) is in that group, I think, and they are very good. Their early stuff (when Cee-Lo was still with them) is great.
I haven't heard anything from the whole Dungeon Family though, so I won't judge them as a whole...

Rams 10-27-2006 01:11 PM

Did anyone like Cee-Lo before Gnarls Barkley?

Goodie Mob is basically OutKast verbatim, ****ty generic southern rap.

Robert Crumb 10-27-2006 01:25 PM

Generic in what sense? The first couple albums are pretty solid.

And Lady Sovereign is pretty bad. Did anyone hear about the guy who was taking donations to get a date with her? He collected a pretty mint and rented a yacht, all to try to get with the munchkin.

Robert Crumb 10-27-2006 01:32 PM

Only heard the song off Plague Songs. That one is alright. Does he have an album out/upcoming or something?

Interstate 10-27-2006 01:33 PM
Has anyone heard Klashnekoff's 'It's Murda'? One of the best british singles of recent times, I think.

Lady Sovereign is the worst.
Haven't heard that particular song but I've heard a couple of others. He's amazingly talented. 'Parrowdice' is brilliant. His album is ridiculously hard to find though. :(

Beats, lyrics, and hooks are all of standard southern rap formula. Of course they need the obligatory angry MC to give a sense of realism.

It's sad that Scarface is the only good southern rapper out there. Then it's like T.I. and Chamillionaire.

Robert Crumb 10-27-2006 02:05 PM

I'd download it.

Goodie Mob had some good hooks, and the Organized Noize albums have fantastic production. Lyrics are sort of meh, but they have their moments.

Man, MF Grimm's flow is so weak, but the production on American Hunger is great.

pixiesfanyo 10-27-2006 04:29 PM

For Hero For Fool is one of my favorite rap related releases of the year.

The Jungler 10-27-2006 04:46 PM
In My Mind is just boring. Lady Sovereign is actively irritating.
Meh, can't say I agree with either of those. Though I was irritated when she was like a half hour late at Lollapalooza.

The last track on MF Grimm's new CD is superb. Don't know much else by him.

So I just got and listened to both The Unseen and The Further Adventures of Lord Quas by Quasimoto. I was sort of expecting Madlib type stuff, and I guess it similar in some senses. I really dig the out-there-ness of it, it's very different to most hip-hop I listen to, but at times, the high pitched voice that he uses can get pretty irritating. I'll have to give them both a few more listens before I have a real verdict.

What does everyone else think?

Tyler 10-27-2006 09:22 PM

I cant stand the voice.

The Jungler 10-27-2006 09:36 PM

I love the voice to be honest. Both the CDs are a little long for my tastes, but they are both fantastic. The first is way grittier and easier to listen to through the whole thing, but the second has some fantastic songs and production. The lyrics are cool on both records as well.

I just got Lord Quas at FYE for $8.
Both the CDs are a little long for my tastes, but they are both fantastic.
They are a little long, but I put them in a playlist together along with J Dilla's Donuts, and it made for a really nice 2 hours of listening, the three albums blend really well together.

Kyle 10-28-2006 06:42 AM

I love the Quasimoto stuff, it makes really great background music.
