Hells Bells 07-14-2005 03:35 PM

Yeah, it is slow today...

anyways, it's great to know what time zone everyone's in (I'm eastern), but no one's talking about bodom..

What does everyone think of their cover of Cryhavoc's Repent? It shocked the hell out of me to hear Alexi singing :amaze: I know that most bands with death growls will do a few songs clean vocals....but it's not CoB's style. It's also the only song by them where I've heard them use an acoustic.

Shadows 07-14-2005 03:38 PM

What album was that on? I've never heard of that song. I'm not great at keeping track of CoB's covers, but was it on an EP or single or something?

IheartSP 07-14-2005 03:44 PM

It's not a cover, it's actually Cryhavoc, it was a split album between Bodom, Cryhavoc, and Wizzard.

Also, Bodom's singing is not a death growl it's just harsh vocals. Alexi does clean vocals on his cover of Billy Idol's Rebel Yell, and also on the chorus of Sixpounder.

leomondaine 07-14-2005 03:51 PM

I recorded the guitar solos of Kissing The Shadows on my ****ty 4-track today

Really? Well lol, that explains why the song sounds nothing like bodom. And you're right about Sixpounder, I missed that hehe.

I haven't heard his Billy Idol cover, do you think you could post it?

IheartSP 07-14-2005 03:55 PM

Nice job man, a bit sloppy, but not as bad as you made it osund. When you tried to stay with the keyboard at the end tho it sounded horrendus

IheartSP 07-14-2005 03:58 PM

I don't actually have the song but I'll download it then upload it
Wow! I would kill to see Ozzfest...and Shadows Fall again. The most metal atmosphere in the world.
im going this year but trust me, its not the most metal atmosphere in the world. it would be if there were better bands on the bill though...

AA-12 07-14-2005 04:02 PM

I don't think the lineup could get much better.

Hells Bells 07-14-2005 04:03 PM

that's awesome that you were able to record those solos and do a decent job with them lemondaine, but do you think you'd be able to post them, minus the keys?

IheartSP 07-14-2005 04:03 PM

I think Maiden is the only exceptional band on the bill, with In Flames being above average, and personally I'm just not a Sabbath fan at all. BLS and Shadows Fall are both average in my eyes.

Shadows 07-14-2005 04:04 PM

Meh, I don't care for Maiden. Shadows Fall and In Flames are both amazing.

Hells Bells 07-14-2005 04:05 PM

that's great, thanks :D
I don't think the lineup could get much better.
im sure it can

im only going for BLS, Shadows Fall, Sabbath, and InFlames

now if COB were there, thatd be a whole different story

Unusual. Bodom usually sucks at covers.

IheartSP 07-14-2005 04:20 PM

I think Silent Scream was a good cover, but Don't Stop At the Top and Hellion were both pretty bad. Aces High was terrible except the remade solos which were exceptionally great I think.

Shadows 07-14-2005 04:23 PM

That's how I feel. Silent Scream was the only respectable cover.

leomondaine 07-14-2005 04:24 PM

I personally think all of their covers are excellent :-\

IheartSP 07-14-2005 04:26 PM

Off the topic of Bodom but, I just Sign of the Cross by Iron Maiden. I have the Rock in Rio DVD where they do it live and it is amazing, but on the studio album Blaze Bayley is the singer and I had never heard him before, he is horrendus! It's like a really really stale Bruce Dickinson.

yeah, it is a great cover. they throw in their own style, but they keep the sound the song was originally supposed to have.

Shadows 07-15-2005 11:33 AM

Children of Bodom doesn't have a DVD in the works do they? The closest they've come is TL&S, but I can't get that.

flamesofbodom 07-15-2005 11:47 AM

Alright, Something Wild is on the way everyone.

Shadows 07-15-2005 12:08 PM

In all actuality...

Taken from Scythes of Bodom...
"Now the surprise track of the upcoming single "In Your Face" has been revealed. It will be a cover of the Britney Spears song "Oops I Did It Again".

A total of two cover songs were recorded during the "Are You Dead Yet?" session. The second cover song will be used as bonus track for the Japanese version of the album.

In other news a live DVD of the Wacken festival in 2004 will be released next Monday. Children Of Bodom will be featured on it with the live version of their song, Sixpounder, which was already shown on German TV in 2004.

Next Saturday the band will play a secret gig in Berlin, Germany. Only chosen persons will have entrance to the concert.

On September 9th Children Of Bodom will play a gig in Québec, Canada with Trivium and Amon Amarth."

Is this true? Bodom is covering Britney Spears for the In Your Face single? Bizarre...

Drugstep 07-15-2005 12:13 PM

It's not that surprising.

They ought to cover Take It As It Comes by The DOors, if you ask me.

flamesofbodom 07-15-2005 12:15 PM

Completely speechless............

Anyway here it is

Children of Bodom - Something Wild

It includes the original 7 songs plus two covers:
Silent Scream - Slayer
Don't Stop At The Top - Scorpions

Enjoy :chug:

What?!? CoB?? Brittany Spears???
This is too funny...
It was probably Janne's suggestion. On Scythes of Bodom it said that one of the songs he enjoys playing is Oops, and that it's not really the song he likes....it's Brittany. But now they're actually going to cover it?

CoB never ceases to shock me.

AA-12 07-15-2005 12:20 PM

 I can't wait to hear that.

MAthiAS 07-15-2005 12:21 PM

Well, Gav's cover of Toxic came out really cool, maybe this will too.

Shadows 07-15-2005 12:25 PM

This will be amusing to say the least.

But in a more badass note, I just got a copy of Tokyo Warhearts in the mail.

EDIT: It's kind of weird though...in the booklet, Janne has REALLY short hair and Jaska'a hair is braided.

It might have been one of their earlier pics, like from when the band was just formed. When Janne first joined he had really short hair :p

Haha, braided? That must looks weird on him.

That was one of the best covers i've ever heard.

He looks very Scandinavian. Like something out of an Amon Amarth video.

IheartSP 07-15-2005 01:39 PM

Wow, I just discovered that Oops I Did It Again was a cover of a Louis Armstrong song. I am severely confused because that doesn't seem like something he'd sing, or Britney Spears cover. The lyrics are like gay 21st century pop, why would Louis Armstrong have written them in like the 60s?

That's got to be wrong. Where did you find this at?

Huber 07-15-2005 01:45 PM

She may have changed the lyrics to suit a pop song or something.

Shadows 07-15-2005 01:46 PM

Weiner! I should hope so!

No, that was one of her recent hits.
