I've listened through it about 6 times now in the car, and once or twice here at home, and I'm not growing tired of it yet. The first half of it is admittedly much better than the second, and I could see getting tired of the last half in the future.
|
Ive been listening to the Sword a ton. I really like that band.
|
Barael's Blade, Freya, and Winter's Wolves is a deadly trio back to back to back.
|
You know there are two different bands--Sword and The Sword? Weird, huh?
|
I didn't think The Sword's album was too special. The doom debut from this year that I did think was special is Sahg. Album of the year IMO. And they were great live too...and I met King ov Hell after they played :p
|
Teehee... sahg.
|
Eh?
|
I don't know. Sahg. Sag. Funny word.
|
Ahh.
Funny word, great band. |
The Sword isn't too bad, though I haven't payed loads of attention to them yet.
|
Great list ya put there, don't see many people mention the melvins these days, they aint really stoner, freak-rock :smoke:
They're fit for discussion in here I think. To me they have their sludge moments, drone moments and post-punk moments. Their new one, (A) Senile Animal, is amazing. It really harks back to their old days. |
The Sword put on a good live show.
|
Yeah, I saw them play in DC back in the spring and it was a good show. I didn't think much of their album, but they're a decent live band.
|
I might go see them because they are coming to Baltimore at the end of this year.
|
I'd assume they'll be OK.
|
So I ordered some nice funeral doom today:
Ahab - Call OF The Wretched Sea Comatose Vigil - Not A Gleam Of Hope. w00t! This makes me very happy. Anyone familair with Ahab? |
I am :)
Great funeral doom |
I've only read great reviews about their full length so I'm sure it will be good.:)
I'm listening to Mournful Cogregation right now, My first ever funeral doom band. np: When The Weeping Dawn Beheld Its Mortal Thirst |
I don't have any Mournful Cogregation :(
My first FD band was Reclusiam. |
Ahab is great, and Mournful Congregation is definitely one of my favorite funeral doom bands. The Monad of Creation in particular.
|
Their full length is great indeed.
I love the accoustic parts. The other release I have by them is also great. It's a demo, don't remember the name though. np: some scary sludge. Corrupted - III - Sangre/VI-Humanos |
You've been listening to a lot of Corrupted lately, peter. I hacent listened to FD as of lately, but im enjoying some Candlemass at the moment.
NP: Solitude |
\mm/ Candlemass, I haven't listened to Candlemass in a long time.
|
Awesome np mate.
Please let me die in solitude. \m/ I;ve been on quite the Corrupted binge yes. Can't get enough of them and doom/sludge/stoner in general. np: Shape Of Despair - Sleep Mirrored |
\m/
NP: Crystal Ball "Visions and dreams you can see in the Crystal ball" Definitely my favorite song off EDM. |
Candlemass!!!!1 One of my favorite bands.
I've been really into stoner doom lately. |
Stoner!
I don't know many stoner bands though, Kyuss, Bongzilla, Sleep, Weedeater, Bomb The SUn. That's it :( |
Bomb The Sun are GREAAAAAAAAT!
|
Ye sthey are, haven't listened to them in a while though.
I also know Spiritual Beggars btw. Going to listen to them in a bit. np: Skepticism - Untitled |
Spiritual Beggars are amazing. Their singer is also the singer of Grand Magus, another amazing ****ing band.
|
Speak of the devil, I'm listening to Spiritual Beggars right now.
Grand Magus are excellent. munky_magick had a thread about them a LOOONG time ago. |
I'm downloading a Spiritual Beggars album, and started it right before they were mentioned.
I HAVE to find another GM album besides Monument. |
I have the d/t Spiritual Beggars album.
no GM stuff for me yet though. :( np: Skepticism - Nothing |
The s/t SB is great. So is the newest one.
|
np: the s/t one.

|
I don't like Per.
/disgruntled Opeth fanboy That split album is called Altar. It owns all. *Correction: It is not a split, but a collaboration between the two bands. |
 I shall make purchase
