was caroline the manager all the way from bernie being fired till the clash breakout?
Bernie returned as the manager at one point.

guns_of_brixton 03-31-2005 08:32 AM

Caroline was their manager during Combat Rock, according to some article I read, but I don't think it was mentioned in Westway.

white_riot 03-31-2005 02:46 PM

I want to buy a clash book and i was wondering if anyone could tell me which is the best one to get.

CombatRock 03-31-2005 03:10 PM

andy is reading one right now..dont know the name..but i have never read a clash book so idont know

Forest_Fire 03-31-2005 03:22 PM

same here

Coma_Girl 03-31-2005 05:58 PM

the only one ive read so far is Let Fury Have The Hour: Punk Rock Politics of Joe Strummer and it's good, but it says the same thing over and over again in different words. It's a great book if you want something to make you realize the impact of Joe on the society.

I think i'll get Passion Is A Fashion next month cause it seems pretty interesting and maybe Vision Of An Homeland, the book on the mescaleros.

guns_of_brixton 03-31-2005 06:14 PM

I read part of The Last Gang in Town, but I didn't think it was very good. But that was when I didn't like the Clash as much, so I should probably give it another try.

CombatRock 03-31-2005 06:23 PM

im not much on reading only big things i have read about the clash are in my NME clash issue..if none of yall have it...GET IT..its the best thing i have ever bought (magizne wise)

guns_of_brixton 03-31-2005 06:30 PM

I'll keep an eye out for it.

Forest_Fire 03-31-2005 06:30 PM

Coma_Girl 03-31-2005 09:14 PM

2004.

he still looks like a rat...some things never change. He do looks old (which is kinda normal) and sad...Sad but not on heroin anymore. I don't like to see my heros all weird and old like that...It's like they are still 25 in my head...and it's a shock when I see a picture of them old.For some reason, Joe didnt look old to me.But the first time I saw a recent picture of Mick..I just couldnt believe he was that old...same for Topper.Paul still looks pretty much like when he was 25 anyways.

Forest_Fire 03-31-2005 09:17 PM

My english teacher that borrowed my clash cd's is going to let me borrow some Public Enemy cds. sweet.

Also, if I remember right, the clash were a big influence on Public Enemy

CombatRock 03-31-2005 09:19 PM

if i remeber correctly..wasnt joe in a PE video

and yes PE is an awesome group

Coma_Girl 03-31-2005 09:21 PM

dustin is right, dustin is right.
the clash = big influence on public enemy

i let my teacher borrow me my mescaleros cds...and i missed my cds way too much...i keep them for myself now

Forest_Fire 03-31-2005 09:22 PM

mescaleros whore :p

guns_of_brixton 03-31-2005 09:25 PM

Public Enemy is awesome, Chuck D is a great writer/ lyricist (sp?).

And I'm sure I can fing that magazine somewhere around here.

I wish I had a teacher who was a Clash whore too :upset:. My history teacher last year knew who the Clash were and said that Train in Vain was a cool song, but thats about it.

guns_of_brixton 03-31-2005 09:28 PM
sean is right, sean is right.

It was actually Dustin (Ska_Pirate) who said that, but I'll take the credit :p.

But I agree that the Clash influenced PE and I think NWA too.

CombatRock 03-31-2005 09:32 PM

i dont think the clash influnced NWA...clash was anti viloent..and NWA were very vilonet people...but also....some of NWA policital views matched the clashes..so what do i know

/going jogging be back in 15 mins

I agree, its a great song. I think you already mentioned that you've heard the original, right? I think the Clash's is better.

Coma_Girl 04-01-2005 05:50 PM

MalcolmXInTheMiddle 04-01-2005 05:56 PM

Armagideon Time is the B-side of the London Calling songle. It's on the Super Black Market Crash album.

Coma_Girl 04-01-2005 05:59 PM

sketchyjoe 04-01-2005 06:09 PM

The SBMC album is just basically Clash b-sides.
