so im looking for another crash to add, i have 16"/18" zildjian avedis medium crashes, and a wuhan 10" splash with sbian aax 13" hats... im looking for another crash to add, something brighter than my avedis', but not so bright it sticks out like a sore thumb... any ideas? im not sure what size to go with, or brand...
what about a paiste dimensions raw medium crash, any size'd fit in well with your setup i think

Nightmar3 08-30-2005 03:15 AM

I play rock/progressive/punk and actually I never saw a splash in a tab..... but I want one anyway! What about stands, can you put a splash on a normal stand????

daveplaysdrums 08-30-2005 05:32 AM

Of course you can physically. It's probably not best to though, the cymbal's too small really, you'll just end up with a forest of cymbal stands. It'll be a lot easier and probably cheaper to get it its own cymbal attachment. Tama CA30E, Pearl CH70, Gibraltar SCGCA are three I can think of right now, among others. Personally I'd go with the Tama model, that's what I use.

bobby__johnny 08-30-2005 06:12 AM

myself, i'd reccomend a boom arm and grabber clamp....a little more flexible than those grabber arms

Seafroggys 08-30-2005 06:15 PM
progressive/punk
And this mixes how?

Rilez 08-30-2005 09:24 PM

I'd like some hats with a real nice "chick" while closed. Preferably in the Zildjian line...thanks!

Seafroggys 08-30-2005 09:38 PM

Why Zildjian? What if there was a Sabian or Istanbul cymbal that sounded more like what you're looking for than any Zildjian cymbal?

Rilez 08-30-2005 09:40 PM
Why Zildjian? What if there was a Sabian or Istanbul cymbal that sounded more like what you're looking for than any Zildjian cymbal?
That would be fine with me...I just prefer zildjian but will be fine with buying a pair of Sabian, Paiste, Meinl, etc...hats....I said I would prefer it to be in the Zildjian line...not that it had to be.

Seafroggys 08-31-2005 12:59 AM

i don't know much about hats, but you might want to look at 13" models

DruMMeR_BoY14 08-31-2005 12:59 AM

and why not a Zildjian Cymbal? Maybe they are the cheapest/most available in his area? Or maybe he wants a Zildjian cymbal because he has a soft spot.

Nothing wrong with sugesting Zildjian alternatives but don't come in here and be a dick about it.

Onto cymbals: Check out A Mastersounds, A Quickbeats, A Newbeats, K Mastersound (for a darker sound), A Custom Mastersound.

Something should be what your looking for. Go into a store and try some out against eachother. If they don't have it instock, ask if they could order it for you.

Zildjian 14" Z Custom Master Sound

-TheGlassPrison- 08-31-2005 12:45 PM

Zildjian 14" K Mastersounds...

EW Z CUSTOM MASTERSOUND?! YOU MAD?!

WarHammer 08-31-2005 07:30 PM

I have Z Custom Mastersounds, and they sound pretty good to me. Nice and bright. I don't see why people hate Z Customs so much.

I was hardly being a dick. Being a dick would be like "You suck *** for liking Zildjian, everyone else is much better." You need to understand that I've been here awhile, and I found the longer I'm in an online community, the more cynical I get, because I was assuming he was a brand whore which I'm tired of that mentality.

Good job at listing the entire Zildjian hi-hat database :thumb:

he wasnt being a dick. he was just stating that WHAT IF there was another cymbal from a different company that he liked better. it was basically a "look at other brands and see if you like them" comment.

3_times_round 09-01-2005 03:01 PM

Ok, this could get confusing...

I'm looking for a trashy crash (china, yeah, but VERY specific). Zildjian Oriental is too trashy for me, so something less trashy. I'm looking into the A custom and K Custom Dark China lines. These more crashy than trashy?
Would a Crash of Doom be more suitable for what I want? I want the trashy sound of either a china or Crash of Doom, but a really trashy china doesn't appeal to me.

I can't help you out too much but i'll try. You should look into some wuhan crashes because I believe they have some trash to them, the trads have more a bit more trashy than the s series. Other than that I would just try testing out cymbals at your local shop, especially because you're looking for a very specific sound.

Fyl 09-01-2005 08:14 PM

im looking for good priced and good cymbals for jazz

a trashy crash? Sabian HHXtreme crash
im looking for good priced and good cymbals for jazz
the thinner Paiste Innovations perhaps? and the AA Raw ride....very nice for a hot jazzy tone.

-TheGlassPrison- 09-01-2005 08:47 PM

Manhatten Jazz.. omg, wow.. amazing
Any K

I didnt see the price thing;)

bobby__johnny 09-01-2005 08:50 PM

yeah, the price on an HHX ride is a bit much.....the AA raw though...thats a sweet *** ride for jazz though...dry, but lively at the same time.

Mike Goes Numb 09-02-2005 12:15 AM

I didnt feel like cluttering up the with another thread. But I've always really liked the sound of Tucker Rule's hats from Thursday. I know he uses Sabian hats, not sure which though. I might be interested in getting a pair if I try them out.

DruMMeR_BoY14 09-02-2005 07:53 AM

From the understanding in a car crash clip, they are AA, not sure which hat, i think they might be rock but not 100% sure.

There are pictures of him and he's using Zildjian A's, and those are about 2003-2004.

Alright, I was basically going out the sounds on Full Collapse. So I'll look into some Sabian AA hats. Or will there be other hats that will offer me a similar sound?

Sinai Beach 09-03-2005 08:46 PM

im looking for a heavy, full, semi bright crash that can handle my hard hitting. i play hardcore/ metal and everything else. my choices are the sabian 20" AA metal crash and the paiste rude 20" crash/ride. which one is better and do you you guys have any other suggestions?
thanks

id go with an AA rock crash.

Seafroggys 09-03-2005 09:45 PM

Meh, I'd go with a Medium AA instead of the Rock. I find the medium plenty heavy, where if you ever grow out of....I mean go into other genres, you'll still have the versatility to play lightly and with dynamics.

true. i was gonna say medium but i didnt wanna go against his whole super heavy thing. the rock is medium heavy which is too heavy but tahst what he wanted.

pdpdrummer88 09-05-2005 02:10 PM

Does anyone here have a 16 or 18" Paiste New Signature 'Dark Energy' Crash? Im looking to buy one and I'd like any input on them.

Thanks

bobby__johnny 09-05-2005 02:24 PM

yes.

slash_bmxer09 09-05-2005 05:58 PM

Im looking for a Ride. I play mostly hard rock, some metal. Rarely soft things, but sometimes. Anyone have a suggestion for me? Any brand.

Sponer 09-05-2005 06:56 PM

^ Probably a Sabian AA medium ride? Meh, I don't know though. Don't take cymbal advice from me. :)

Anyways, how are Sabian AAX-Xcelerator hi-hats? I've never played them yet, but I hear they're good.
I currently have B8s which I need to upgrade. I play with a metal band, but I don't want cymbals that will ONLY be good for metal because when at home I play alot of styles and I want something versatile.

And whatever get, I think I've already decided the size: 13".

bobby__johnny 09-05-2005 07:33 PM

go with the AAX Stages for versatility then....the X-cellerators are pretty much like Mastersounds....that, and i think they only come in 14" right now...

Sabian Hand Hammered Raw Bell Dry Ride.

Byron 09-07-2005 07:10 PM

I'm looking for a ride that is really bright (high pitched?) and doesn't ring for a long time any brand

bobby__johnny 09-07-2005 07:45 PM

Sabian PRO dry Ride.

Iskandar 09-07-2005 09:50 PM

Does that even exist?

The regular PRO ride (20") would work very well for that situation. It's probably the best intermediate-level ride I've ever played.

Seafroggys 09-07-2005 11:58 PM

Would an A Earth Ride work as well?
