So I raided my library again and borrowed
Sneaker Pimps - Becoming X
Radiohead - Kid A
Rufus Wainwright - Poses
Tom Waits - Mule Variations
Mazzy Star - Among My Swan
My god, your library rules more than mine.

I got Community Music by Asian Dub Foundation, and Under A Funeral Moon by Darkthrone from my library on Friday.

Happymeal 11-13-2004 05:48 PM

My library doesn't have metal cd's:(

Tangy zizzle 11-13-2004 05:57 PM

I've been blowing my brains out with the sound of Penance Soiree by the Icarus Line for the past couple days. Can you get any more **** 'n balls than this?

I hope not.

Never been to a brothel in Thailand, I see.

Tangy zizzle 11-13-2004 06:02 PM

The Icarus Line > My exploits in Thai ladyboy whorehouses.

incubliss 11-13-2004 08:33 PM

i've been digging the mash up by DJ Anchovie, called There's No Such Thing As A Jay-Z Snake.

you liked the songs There's No Such Thing As A Jaggy Snake by Biffy Clyro, and the song 99 Problems by Jay-Z, well this smart arse has put them together, and it's great.

he's done a few other mash ups aswell, some involving Linkin Park, but i think i've already heard that, and it wasn't too impressive. look out for this guy.

Little Man being Erased 11-13-2004 11:46 PM

Hey Tangy, which Hot Snakes album should I buy? I'm really diggin those bastards.

Tangy zizzle 11-14-2004 12:11 AM

Any of the 3 is a good buy.

Personally I'd go with Automatic Midnight, but whatever.

Tangy zizzle 11-14-2004 03:19 AM

Good work.

The Chills, The Clean, The Verlaines = all really good NZ bands from days past.

Tangy zizzle 11-14-2004 03:44 AM

Indeed.

Have you heard David Kilgours new album?

Tangy zizzle 11-14-2004 03:49 AM

Yeah pretty good poppy stuff.
The Icarus Line > My exploits in Thai ladyboy whorehouses.
Bad joke man. I'm going to Thailand in 2 weeks :(

LMBE: I'd go with "Automatic Midnight" as well.

Tapeworm 11-14-2004 06:46 AM

Little Man: I'd go with getting that and bringing it here so I can listen to it. Woooo.

Little Man being Erased 11-14-2004 07:09 AM

Yeah I might get it this week depending on my financial situation.

Thanks Tangy.

Zappa 11-14-2004 11:03 AM

I like "Suicide Invoice" better, but I can't say I'm totally amazed by any Hot Snakes stuff. Drive Like Jehu may have been better.

biografiend 11-14-2004 11:09 AM

Yo-Yo Ma and A Silver Mount Zion. Very lovely waking-up music. They are both amazing.

Iai 11-14-2004 11:21 AM

From what I've heard of both, Drive Like Jehu are easily better.

The Ashtray Girl 11-14-2004 12:13 PM

I'm digging Kasabian MAJORLY right now. Oh sweet Jesus I love them so much. ~runs off and reviews it~

Tangy zizzle 11-14-2004 02:57 PM

DLJ are a much better band musically and originality-wise, but I'm such a punk so I just go for Hot Snakes every time.

Yank Crime > all Snakes albums, but I find it to be quite a challenging listen because I want to just sit and engulf it. Whereas Hot Snakes albums I can put on and they just flow around me and hot damm some of those riffs get stuck in my head.

So I guess it's coming down to IMO again. I prefer Hot Snakes you "people" take Drive Like Jehu.

We all win.

Happymeal 11-14-2004 07:46 PM

I personally like Hot Snakes more than DLJ(only because I haven't heard a lot from DLJ).

I'm digging that Rufus Wainwright cd and some Turin Brakes

Tangy zizzle 11-14-2004 08:44 PM

Jsbx4lyf3

br3ad_man 11-14-2004 10:29 PM

Elliott Smith wooot

Tangy zizzle 11-14-2004 10:31 PM

I'm starting to prep myself for BDO next year, so a lot of the artists on the bill have been gracing my playlists.

Tomahawk 11-14-2004 10:37 PM

I'm digging the Cure right now, Disintegration is ridiculously good. There was a 4 hour long Cure special on MTV yesterday, and that got me back into them. It also made me realise that 54% of MTV's programming is commercials for ringtones.

Tangy zizzle 11-14-2004 10:42 PM

Can you please explain to me why the Cure are liked by so many? I just cannot for the life me see the big deal.

Tomahawk 11-14-2004 10:48 PM

I dunno... I just likes the music. Layered, atmospheric, and other critic words. They have some garbage, but when they're good it's brilliant.

Have you heard Disintegration? That CD would be in my top 10, probably.

Tangy zizzle 11-14-2004 10:59 PM

No I havn't. They seem dramatic and Fat Bob seems so self loathing.

I have "Boys Don't Cry" on vinyl, and it's pretty woeful

br3ad_man 11-15-2004 02:14 AM

You need to hear "Disintegration". Robert Smith defintiely scares me though. The only song I've heard off Boys Dont Cry is the title track but it rules.

Iai 11-15-2004 04:07 AM

The Cure are so popular because they're a pop band. But their image makes it okay for the indie kids to love them.

Lemons.

Iai 11-15-2004 04:08 AM

^I was half kidding with that post, by the way.

Tapeworm 11-15-2004 07:21 AM

I love The Cure. In my top 5 bands ever.

Zappa 11-15-2004 02:55 PM

"Boys Don't Cry" is my least favorite Cure record. I like it even less than "Bloodflowers!"

Tomahawk 11-15-2004 04:31 PM

Yeah it's pretty melodramatic, but it doesn't really bother me with them.

Honestly, Disintegration is pretty essential. If you're interested at all, check out the song Fascination Street.

And since this threads gone off track a bit: right now I'm digging De La Soul, because I just heard The Grind Date on the radio.

My friend told me to listen to De La Soul and they really were a worth the time, The Grind Date is quite nice.

Interstate 11-15-2004 04:39 PM

The Killers 'Hot Fuss' and The Futureheads 'The Futureheads'

Tangy zizzle 11-15-2004 05:15 PM

De La Soul are awesome. Such a fun band, but they have substance aswell.

Luxor 11-15-2004 05:17 PM

Right now I'm listening to the "Summers Kiss EP", by Dashboard.

/Embarrassed.

Duncan Sheik - Phantom Moon

Iai 11-15-2004 06:11 PM

I was listening to Handsome Boy Modelling School.

Now I'm gonna check out the Sonic Youth album sr800bk's sending to me. (Daydream Nation) Feedback tomorrow.

Zappa 11-15-2004 06:35 PM

Ew, I don't like that album.
