I can easily bend a whole set up to what would be a 26th fret note.
Why stress your fingers when you can just hit the note?

The ladies love strong fingers bending the g string.

Well on that bass you could bend to the 28th fret note.

Shhh.

In other news: Elgar's Enigma Variations are fantastic.

Spaceman Spiff 10-18-2006 08:08 PM

Phil, have you actually noticed the finger ramp make a difference in your playing?

I like to think I have pretty good technique, so I'm not sure if it would make any difference.

PaulSimonon 10-18-2006 08:08 PM

So I have the perfect avatar, but I can't size it small enough without distorting it.

Anyone have a means of making it small without it looking like ****?

HELLonWHEELS 10-18-2006 08:09 PM

Just out of curosity what bass is it and do you have pics?

what is it

katana_manatee 10-18-2006 08:09 PM

You could now bend to the 28th. Look what Michael Manring can do with nearly a full three octave neck!

For example: http://www.myspace.com/michaelmanring

Monkey Businessman ftw!

Edit: Gah, beaten by Akira on the bend.

I have on my fretless. More speed, better dynamic control, and an overall more expressive style.

Go to paint then go to stretch/skew and make it _% smaller. It shouldn't distort it.

trumpeter 10-18-2006 08:10 PM

Pfft, ramp schmapt

Just because I only like 4 strings doesn't make me less of a man when the lights are out and I'm on top.

One Groovin Clown 10-18-2006 08:13 PM

Now what does the finger ramp do?
I know what it is, but what's the purpose of it?

HELLonWHEELS 10-18-2006 08:14 PM

Where can i find a finger ramp and what exactly is it?

EDIT: Grovvin beat me too it.

I'm having Jared build me an 8 string. :) Just need to buy a cab first and then I'll be sending out a deposit to him (i.e. I won't have the money till spring).

Nice, how are you going to set it up?
I'm guessing a 6 string but 2 higher strings?

Hmm...

The only thing I'm thinking is that it couldn't hurt to put one on.

I'm not being cocky, but I do have pretty good fingerstyle technique, which is why I question if it would help, but I guess I'd still like to try it out and see if anything improves.

Yeah. B-E-A-D-G-C-F-Bb. If I ever move to a 9 or up, I'll add on a low F#, but I don't really think I'd use it much right now.

One Groovin Clown 10-18-2006 08:21 PM

A low F# would probably hit the brown note :amaze:

id say i had pretty good finger technique before hand, and now its even better. i mean, you dont have to put one on if you think you can play better than gary willis =O
