I cannot and will not pick one album. I have to choose four. ...and justice for all.
Master Of Puppets, Ride the lightning and kill em all also I would pick S&M but its really only a collection of other songs. |
With classic Metallica albums like these, can life get any better?
I submit that it cannot! |
agreed
|
can't help but agree.
|
kill em all was allrite, but ride the lightning, master of puppets and justice was the greatest i couldnt even begin to tell you how much i love them.
|
Load and Reload were my favourites...
|
^^^^
re-load came out when i was in 8th grade (98') and i remember being so upset with it, now as i look at their catalog...load and re-load are almost flawless albums. wonderful riffs, james' best vocal work (lyrics still go to the black album IMO) and i enjoyed the hard rock sound, i would have liked to hear more in that direction...hell, i loved no leaf clover...minus human...and i dissapear, very energetic well written music. i think now that st.whatever is out of their systems they hopefully will write some memorable **** again. load and re-load are masterpieces, simply put. |
Personally, i wouldn't go as far as saying they were masterpieces, but they are certainly not as bad as everyone makes them out to be. The guitar work and riffs, as you said, are quite enjoyable for hard rock albums, and i certainly still listen to them with anticipation and joy. They just stray further from the metalpieces that their early material were. No leaf Clover is a MAD songs, plain and simple, probably my favourite song on S&M.
Oh, and life can get a whole lot better! :p.... there are countless better albums out there in all different genres of metal, they just have to be found. I fully encourage everyone who worships early metallica to break out of your glass prisons and scout around, your life will never be the same again :thumb: |
Ride The Lightning, but all albums (not St Anger though) i love.
|
I would say Ride the Lightning
|
paster of muppets for me
|
Kermits vocals on paster of muppets were awesome. Not to mention Gonzo singing back-up. :thumb:
|
I dont know what the best album is. Its a very hard choice between Master of Puppets and... Ride the Lightning. I also just bought the Kill Em all cd finnaly. absolutely lovely arrangement of thrash metal. I plan on getting load next.

I read the first few pages of this then skipped to the end...
My all time favorite Metallica song has got to be either Master Of Puppets or Ride The Lightning, its a real close tie. My favorite member of Metallica had got to be Hetfield, great guitarist and a great singer. and about St. Anger.... It still amazes me that Metallica made a nu-metal album, its just not what I'd expect from them. Great songs if your a fan of nu-metal, but if your a big Metallica fan (me) it was a big let-down. |
Hetfield is a great rythm guitar player. plays complicated riffs at an alarmingly fast speed, as for my favourite song, Harvester Of Sorrow or For Whom The Bell Tolls, great songs.
|

 neither harvester of sorrow or for whom the bell tolls are fast at all. wat r u talking about alarmlingly fast speed?? even if u had said fast songs like 'fight fire with fire' or 'damage inc', those are just open E string really fast, which is the definitive of thrash metal, but isnt that hard at all, nonetheless. dave mustaine kills hetfield when it comes to speed and overall talent IMO. they have different styles when it comes to songwriting, sometimes i like mustaine's style better, sometimes james'. |
He wasnt saying that they were fast(the two songs), he simply stated that they can play fast(James), and on the other topic, he said his favorites were harvester of sorrow and for whom the bell tolls.
|
I love ...and justice for all
but my favorite song is fight fire with fire. |
i really cant believe how James can play so fast and sing at the same time.... i can't play slow and sing lol.
|
Which songs by Metallica are *alarmingly fast* ?
i really cant believe how James can play so fast and sing at the same time.... i can't play slow and sing lol.
If you look at what he's playing its simple stuff so not hard at all; mainly open E and powerchords - nothing fancy. Granted he is quite good at singing and playing but there's lots better. |
We know, it's not alarmingly fast, bad choice of words, apparently he hasn't heard a lot of fast stuff. But let's not whine about that. James is still a good rythm guitarist and writes good stuff.
|
Thank Allah...I mean God! Metallica has been a nuisance ever since I came to these forums.
|
you shouldn't compare yourself to hethfield and say that oh my ! he can play this and that but i can't. so i definitely suck. it's not true.
this guy's band has been exsisting for 20 years. plus he played for several years in phantom lord, obsession and leather charm high-school bands. plus he took piano lessons when he was a kid. so what the hell do you want? at least 25 years. if i play for more than 25 years, plus have noth else to do, like most of us go to school and universities, i'd at lease become a hybrid of vai and malmsteen. so, don't worry ! just pratice instead of complaining. thats what i'm doing right now. :) |
btoto! You are very correct sir! i love you for making such a true statement that will help shift topics in this forum! keep up the conversation, but on a different note. :thumb:
New topic: Which Metallica songs(if any) are your favorite to play or sing? :) Mine: The thing that should not be, Master of Puppets, Harvester of sorrow, the call of ktulu(im gonna learn the whole thing eventually, I SWEAR IT!!!!) oh and i love playing astronomy, although it is a blue oyster cult song. :smash: :chug: |
