All of the albums are good in my eyes... Also, it's not like STA is that much better than Mezmerize.
S/T is easily the best, though. SOAD should make more songs like SOil and PLUCK.
No, if SOAD made songs that sounded like earlier songs, then they wouldn't be who they are. They're always going to do new things, and I'm actually relieved that they did so many new things on Mezmerize (like Old School Hollywood) instead of making the same album over and over again. S/T = Mezmerize > Toxicity > STA |
Hey, you stupid freaking tight lipped vagina headed posterboy for abortions, stop trying to make me feel stupid :thumb:
I am intitled to my own opinion, so get your thumb out of your *** and blow your brains out.
you are entitled to have your opinion, but you're wrong :thumb: I'd take STA over Mesmerize, STA was my first soad album and I will always love it. in my oppinion there are no songs on mesmerize as good as Mr Jack. |
ur gay, mezmerize is better then sta. BYOB is the best song ever
|
Yes, System changed their sound to sell records, that's exactly it man... you've got it .
In all seriousness, they still kick ass, and they didn't change their sound to what popular metal is now, so how are they sell-outs? Just say you don't like the new record you silly cunt, that's what I did.
I'm not saying they sold out. Actually I think they are still a great band and the new CD has some great songs. I was saying that to thoughs people who said that mainstream is evil and they sold out bull****. |

Your post was pretty bad even though it was your opinion. I mean, you find few guys who don't know soad's older songs, and you say mainstream is evil and bad. Yippyy.. I like mezmerize more than soad's older stuff, except some songs on toxicity, but Im not that much of a fan or STA, and S/T. |

Come on now, you shouldn't go around criticizing his posts. For me, it goes like this: S/T=STA=Toxicity>Mezmerize Not by much, as I basically like every song on each album, but I really did hear a slight decline in quality from Mezmerize. |
i don't understand why people argue over someone elses opinion. f****** retarded! IMO it goes... Steal this album, Toxicity, Mezmerize, Self-Titled.
daron seem to do all the work himself on mezmerize... guitar, MOST of the bass... and nearly all the vocals. It no longer seemed like a band product... but more of a daron product. it was definately a major ground breaker in the music buisiness for someone to make an album completely independent of the band though... so its a big achievment for daron. |

...says the Oct 2005 mxer. |
It goes like this for me: ST=Toxicity>STA, i don't count mezmorize/Hypnotize becuase in context its one whole album, they just decided to release them seperately.so i don't count it yet until i've heard the whole product.
|
Theres a 1 minuite 12 second long sample of hypnotize (song) here:

I like mezmerize more than soad's older stuff, except some songs on toxicity, but Im not that much of a fan or STA, and S/T.
First of all I'm saying that many artists sell out because its either that or they lose their contract. Although, I don't like this, I have recently realized that you gotta do what you gotta do. I was trying to tell people that "selling out" isn't evil. I also did not say in either of my two posts that System Of A Down "sold out." And secondly I love thier first album. Toxicity is awesome as well, and I really dig STA. Mezmerize was a little disapointing, but I'm starting to listen to again and I really enjoy listening to it. Well except B.Y.O.B. (I can't sand that song, but the rest are great. :thumb: ). Anything else I need to clear up? |
www.systemofadown.com
The full song (hypnotize) is there. And System havent changed the sound to sell more records, man.. When they where playing shows, people told Serj: "You need to stop screaming, man, you will NEVER get signed", and Serj was like: "Okay, thanks for the advice", and then he countinued screaming =) They make music that they like themselves, and they always try to maintain System sound, yet still make it sound different. And they have done that, right? |
thats what makes them good. they're themselves. nothing else out there is like them, except for the bands trying to be.
|
IMO
Self-titled>toxicity>mesmerise>sta |

Oh, and I'm against abortion.
I think he was trying to say that you should have been aborted...
Well except B.Y.O.B. (I can't sand that song, but the rest are great. ). Anything else I need to clear up?
The music in that song is actually pretty cool. I just can't stand the lyrics... Case and point: "Why don't presidents fight the war?" |
Well he's not so good at words now is he?
|
Yes, he is. He's an awesome lyricist IMO. And I like the lines, "Why don't presidents fight the war?/Why do they always send the poor?" They just roll off of the tongue nicely.
Daron is the m3t4l fr33k3y styl3y. John pwnz teh drum sk1llz. Serj rulz. But Shavo can improve. He needs to learn some tasteful slap or something. |

Anyways, I like Serj's lyrics from Toxicity the most; but I wouldn't call him an "awesome lyricist" by any means. Sure, on some songs they have clever metaphors...but all in all, their lyrics are silly. Now with that said, I think Serj is a GREAT vocalist. His voice goes great with their frenetic style of music. |
I think he was trying to say that you should have been aborted...
The music in that song is actually pretty cool. I just can't stand the lyrics... Case and point: "Why don't presidents fight the war?"
lyrics in general have gone down hill if you ask me. I like serj's lyrics, but Darons get a bit annoying. |
lyrics in general have gone down hill if you ask me. I like serj's lyrics, but Darons get a bit annoying.
Yeah, that's fair. I could agree with that. Daron should probably should stop singing all together. |
I don't know, maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I get the feeling they enjoy writing silly lyrics. Maybe that's to ensure they don't fall into the sort of contrivedness that haunts Linkin Park et al.
Maybe that's just me. |
Yeah, that's fair. I could agree with that. Daron should probably should stop singing all together.
I dunno. I think their voices harmonise quite nicely, especially in lost in hollywood. I just dont like the lyrics....radio/video and such are just boring to me. |
To mutant: Well, of course they enjoy writing those lyrics... It doesn't make them good, though.
|
Rephrase: maybe they do it on purpose. I think Serj could gooi some proper poetic stuff if he wanted to, but he just doesn't want to. *Note:* This is just my opinion!
|
Serj did write a book of poetry. some of it was good.
|
Yeah, that's fair. I could agree with that. Daron should probably should stop singing all together.
I completely agree. THe only thing I don't like about Hypnotize is the fact that Daron sings way too much, it would have been an amazing song if Serj would have sang alot more. That being said I like it when Daron and Serj sing the "waiting for my..." part. |
i disagree and i really liked the cool gardens book.. had it for a while and then i had to return it to the library, i sound like a nerd,.. but anyways .. ive been listening to Toxicity alot lately and i almost like it more than S/T.. i mean yea S/T is great but ive listened to it so many times.. gotta take a break from it
|
Yeah, my favorite SoaD album is kind of a constant rotation between STA!, S/T, and Toxicity. It mainly depends on my mood, I suppose.
