What would be good, versatile ride and crash cymbals that would sound good with zildjian new beat hi hats in the $100 - $200 range?

Bobby:

Do you think the 20" AA Medium Ride would make a suitable large crash?
Any other lines I should like at for something along those lines?

stevoibanez 07-10-2005 09:52 PM

Cobalt: I would say A custom crashes, not too familiar with rides though.

I swear to God, the 20" AAX stage ride has the best crash ever. Seriously. Try it out. I would even consider getting one just as a crash, not a ride.

poppinfresh 07-10-2005 10:05 PM

no seet ride has a better crash

Cobalt 07-10-2005 10:45 PM

Thank you stevoibanez, I'll remember to check those out!

poppinfresh 07-10-2005 10:53 PM

no, definetley try the 21 sweet ride it was made for crashing(not sure but it sounds like it was made with crashing in mind)

stevoibanez 07-10-2005 11:09 PM

^^ I'll have to try one out sometime.

What are wavy bottom hi-hat cymbals for? Do they make the "chick" more pronounced?

Also do they crack more easily if the bottom is wavy? A guy on musiciansfriend said he went through two or three pairs of 2002 Sound edge hats in a year because of cracking.

stevoibanez 07-11-2005 12:30 AM

^^ He must have ****ty technique
Wavy edges reduce airlock (in other words, suction, when you close your hats then open them, they kinda stay together?). I think they are also faster and more precise than regular hats

Whats about the smallest ride u can get?

I'm relatively new to drums, so I'm getting a ride now,
i play from rock to blues, so i'd need one that can cover
many sounds, could I have some advice please..

DruMMeR_BoY14 07-14-2005 06:26 AM

Well unless you custom order one, 18" is the smallest ride you can get.

Rent the Devil 07-14-2005 08:26 AM

thanx

if your somewhat new to drums, and dont know what your looking for, look into a medium weight 20" ride.

thatdrummerguy 07-14-2005 07:59 PM

I want a mid-low priced crash that makes a dark, but not too dark and long sound.

thatdrummerguy 07-14-2005 11:10 PM

I mostly play rock and metal.

Seafroggys 07-14-2005 11:16 PM

Wuhans! Or a 100 year old B8 cymbal!

stevoibanez 07-15-2005 10:32 AM

Depending on what you consider low, I would look into AAX dark crash.

thatdrummerguy 07-15-2005 11:48 AM

between 50 and 140 bucks

thatdrummerguy 07-15-2005 11:52 AM

stevoibanez 07-15-2005 01:57 PM

^^You could prob get a 16" AAX dark crash

thatdrummerguy 07-15-2005 08:32 PM

:) thanks

Mars Ulrich 07-16-2005 08:50 AM

well since youre playing mostly punk i wouldnt get the paragon. Id stick with the vault or the stage. I have the 16inch stage and i love it.
