The Dream Theater cover of Comfortably Numb is definitely worth a download, also check out Tool's cover of CN too... Good stuff.
|
Gilmour, I sent it. Do you want Hey You as well?
Yeah, Petrucci is technically more profficient, but Gilmour's playing is far better. Plus, Petrucci may be able to play Comfortably Numb, but could he write it? I doubt it. |
yeah, petrucci can write shredding solos, but not the type you see in comfortably numb or another brick in the wall

I think Shine On You Crazy Diamond has some creepy lyrics:
"remember when you were young/you shone like the sun/.../now there's a look in your eyes/like black holes in the sky" pretty much all their stuff that has to do with lost time is kind of eerie to me. Holy carp I came in the middle of a conversation...well I only ever read the first post so yeah. |
i just wanna clarify that dream theater did those covers in their last american tour with queensryche... petrucci plays the second solo on comf numb. first one is played by the guitarists of 'ryche.

Hey Deus, was that labled correctly? It doesnt sound like DreamtTheater, and it sounds like one of the Comfortably Numbs on DSoT or Pulse. Also that Run like Hell at the end was definitely Pink Floyd on Pulse.
|
I'm listening to Money right now. Great song.
|
*listening to Meddle*
This album owns. "Fearless" has to be their most under rated song. "Meddle" probably the most under rated album. |

To be honest, I couldn't tell you. I listened to it pretty late last night, and it was sent to me by magicbus (I think). So, it could very well be a mislabeled recording from Pulse or DSOT. I don't have DSOT, so it might be from that, and I haven't listened to Pulse in awhile. However, I don't think it was the Pulse version of Comfortably Numb. Didn't sound all that familiar to me. Sorry its late, but I'll send you Hey You right now. Edit: Actually, I won't. I just set up my new computer today, completely spaced. So, when I get a chance to copy all my old music to this thing, I'll send it your way. If you're really impatient, I believe magicbus put his AIM screen name up there, so you can IM him and have him send it to you. |
My favorite Floyd song has gotta be "Have A Cigar" or "Us and Them" Their greatest album IMO is DSOTM because no matter how many times I listen to it, it never ceases to amaze me. WYWH is a very close second though.

I just found these songs on Soulseek, they could've been mislabeled. And as for favorite Floyd song, Any Colour You Like, closely followed by SOYCD.
|
My favorite is Pigs(three Different Ones)
|
I love Any Colour You Like. That would be my favorite song also.
|
Hmm, too many favorites to pick one. And some you almost can't compare, even though it's the same band. For example, one of my favorites is Interstellar Overdrive, but you really can't compare it to another favorite, Dogs.

Pink floyd's songs are all really great, they all have a little something special: lyrics, guitars or anything else fir me they are all good
|
who here thinks that the scisor sisters should be hung for their cover of comfortably numb? Oh and bike rules!
|
god every1 is so boring!

Right now, I think my favorite Pink Floyd song would be Wish You Were Here. :D It varies with what mood I'm in as well. Some of my other faves are Pigs(Three different Ones) and Breathe In The Air.

What is your user-name on Soulseek? |
Man the guitar solo to comfortably numb, time and another brick in the wall kick soo much ***! Dave Gilmour is a ****ing god! Rock on man \m/
|
Favorite Pink Floyd song would be.... ok this is a hard choice, but I find myself listening to Breathe, Echoes and Dogs alot, so if I HAD to pick three, thats them, and no, narrowing them down to one would be impossible... I really like Us and Them too... and Goodbye Blue Sky!
|
Picking your favorite Pink Floyd song is like.... I don't know. Something thats impossible and really not very representative. Maybe being a politician? They're all so good, its impossible to choose (the Pink Floyd songs, not the politicians)

Ain't that the truth. I am that way with the Beatles. |
I love Any Colour You Like. That would be my favorite song also.
Good choice :thumb: I listened to The Wall again today. I decided one of the creepiest songs on there (not THE creepiest, but creepy nonetheless), is Waiting For The Worms. Not only the increasing yelling at the end, which gave me chills, but also the lyrics. The whole dictator thing going on there. Comfortably Numb and The Great Gig In the Sky also recently gave me chills, which is good cause I stopped doing that for a while. I thought I was emotionless to music. Now I'm gonna go watch the movie again cause I want to see the animation. And yea I know, its near impossible to pick your favorite Floyd song, but Any Colour You Like is just so psychadelically awesome, and it brings memories of the earliest Floyd I listened to. |
Yeah, Any Colour You Like is really **** good. Definitely doesn't get the credit it deserves.

Very underrated track... the title actually comes to play when I listen that song, it reminds me of an endless array of colors... Pink Floyd know how to give the listener a good visual. :) |
Most definitely. Pink Floyd is better than any band (in my opinion) at presenting emotions through sound.
|
Moody Blues are pretty good too
