dide mike do his little jokes again. in toronto he told us to call them the sweedish cocks or something like that. They were awesome
Haha that was hilarious. *crowd chants Opeth* "We've actually changed our name.. to 'The Cunts from Sweden'." *Crowd chants Cunts from Sweden*

"We didn't have any trouble at the border.. they took one look at us, and said, 'They're just so goddamn good looking! Except for that singer.. a turd, he is.'"

^What band are we talking about here?

Det_Nosnip 10-02-2006 05:43 AM

I tried to get an Abba chant going while waiting for Opeth, but nobody humored me. :(

Eliminator 10-02-2006 05:49 AM

mikael akerfeldt, dancing queen

Det_Nosnip 10-02-2006 05:54 AM

One and the same!

TojesDolan 10-02-2006 08:32 AM

They should play more Salsa. To be quite honest.

Their last album was pretty weird, so don't be surprised if they pull it off! :thumb:

Perhaps some polka would do.

Kage 10-02-2006 11:23 AM

Townsend beat them to it.

Shattered_Future 10-02-2006 11:33 AM

Yea, but deathpolka would be unbelievable.

Oriental Death-Orchestral-Polka ftw :thumb:

pate 10-02-2006 03:16 PM

I would prefer Blackened Blues.

Otherside 10-02-2006 03:22 PM

flamencodeath plz.
I would prefer Blackened Blues.
It's not blackened but we got a metal song in blues form. First song on my band's demo.

pate 10-02-2006 04:04 PM

I do metal songs in blues form all the time. It's some serious fun.

Moses 10-02-2006 05:13 PM

Yo, I think you said you were gonna do a review for the new Into Eternity album. 3 were submitted in about 10 minutes, so join the bandwagon! :thumb:

I seriously thought it was some error but then realized it wasn't so I lol'd a bit.

Anyway, Blackened Blues seems more plausible, although Axe joining can be a serious detriment/strange music alliance. :-0
They should play more Salsa. To be quite honest.
God, no. I would hate to see how badly Axe would butcher THAT feel...

DUM, BA DUM DUM, BA DUM DUM, BA DUM BADUMBADUMBADUMBADUMBADUMBADUM BABABABABABABABABABBAABBAABBAABBA ABBA?!

Thor 10-02-2006 05:49 PM

I bet Lopez could own up on some salsa like no other, though.

God, I miss him so much. Opeth needs to can Axenrot and get a real drumming like Nicholas Barker. He's got amazing speed and is also really creative...so he'd be ideal for the band.

TojesDolan 10-02-2006 05:50 PM

Maybe Mike is expecting him to get better?

=[

He might as well get a better drummer for recording, though. Mikael can't be that dumb not to notice... or is he...?

That Axe can't keep up with Lopez's "suave swing". Yeah with italics in the suave and sh¡t.

Daven 10-02-2006 06:19 PM

Haha, suave swing.

Nobody will be able to replace ML.

I'm gonna wait...:p

3 reviews in 10 minutes is a bit much, even for me.

Come now, when I saw Axe, he wasn't as bad as people were saying he was. He managed to keep it together the whole show.

Kage 10-02-2006 06:58 PM

He put a dent in their show when I saw them with him. Everything was incredible except him. :-\

Shattered_Future 10-02-2006 07:01 PM

I didn't think he was that bad. Even on Windowpane, he ACTUALLY hit the snare drum softly at one point.

Course, bassdrums were still DOOM DOOM DOOM, but I could live with that.

Thor 10-02-2006 07:07 PM

It's hard to live with you've already heard Opeth with a much better drummer.

Nick Barker should have filled in.

Moses 10-02-2006 07:07 PM

Well, he's good at metal but that's nearly useless in a band like Opeth.

Kage 10-02-2006 07:08 PM

Who's this Nick Barker clown?

Thor 10-02-2006 07:15 PM
Well, he's good at metal but that's nearly useless in a band like Opeth.
He's the coolest extreme metal drummer out there because he incorporates insane blasting with really creative parts. He's done some really cool stuff in softer sections of bands he has worked with, so I think he'd be ideal for the band after Lopez left.
Who's this Nick Barker clown?
The drummer for early Cradle of Filth, later Dimmu Borgir, Old Man's Child, Lock Up, and more. He's a beast.

Shattered_Future 10-02-2006 07:18 PM

Barker is an unbelievable beast.

Damn you Thor for giant IE avatar. I want one.

Thor 10-02-2006 07:19 PM

All of the sputnik regulars love you, so you could probably get one if you wanted. :)

Sounds pretty good.

Toaster 10-02-2006 07:42 PM

When I saw Opeth with Axenrot I thought he played admirably. I saw them with Lopez once, and he actually screwed up a couple times, unlike Axe. The two times I've seen Axe live he hasn't impressed me, but he's been far from disappointing.

Does Barker drum on Dimmu's Death Cult? The drumming on that is really good. Definitely not fitting to Opeth however.

Det_Nosnip 10-02-2006 08:34 PM

Barker's another one with a really flat feel...I never cared for his playing all that much, TBH.

So, apparently Solefald are ****ing amazing.

Shadows 10-02-2006 09:54 PM

Nick Barker is fast as hell but he's a pretty chiseled metal drummer. He doesn't have the style in his playing that Opeth needs.

What Solefald album did you hear?

Pebster49 10-02-2006 10:05 PM

Opeth is just truely amazing, the first album I bought by them was "Damnation" because friends told me that it was the most mainstreamish sounding and would get me hooked and guess what it did. From then I bought "Orchid" and "Blackwater Park", which are even better than the first album I bought. These guys continue to impress me.

Darkness 10-02-2006 10:12 PM

Get Still Life.

Moses 10-02-2006 10:15 PM

I think they should just get Steve Gadd or Dave Weckl. Heck VC would be perfect. :p

/wonder's what Opeth would sound like with Dennis Chambers

Okay, for somthing more realistic they could get Jon Theodore from TMV or Abe Cunningham from Deftones.

Darkness 10-02-2006 10:18 PM

Really man? I'm sure Abe is great for the Deftones, but do you think he could really keep up with Opeth?
