Yes!!! Me toooooo
It's weird. In a good way. The Mountain Goats - Tallahassee On a Mountain Goats fix at the moment. |
Red House Painters - Red House Painters I
American Music Club - Everclear (finally) Norma Jean - Bless The Martyr, Kiss The Child Joy Division - Closer |
Anathallo - Floating World
Really enjoyable so far. |
Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One
Nice. |
Pop-punk is currently soothing my angry soul.
|
Today's listening:
Old Time Relijun - Lost Light X - More Fun In the New World Charles Mingus - Let My Children Hear Music Augustus Pablo - King Tubbys Meets Rockers Uptown Hadn't not ever never heard the last one. Bought it today. I tried to go back and see if the used music store had that copy of the new Bonnie Prince Billy. It was gone, but this was there. Liking it so far. |
Lou Reed - Coney Island Baby
Better than New York, but not better than Transformer. |
I'm officially digging the new Ani DiFranco album. It's excellent, and it's a totally new direction.
|
The Flaming Lips' latest release has my ears.
It's getting such a bad rep, and I don't know why. |
The band Hot Chip in general.
|
Been diggin some Jonathan Richman albums. Ranked in order of greatness-
Jonathan Sings! Jonathan Goes Country Having a Party with Jonathan Richman I, Jonathan he's in love with his name i guess. none of his solo albums match up to the Modern Lover's s/t, but then again that album is near perfect. still though fans of the Lovers should check these out. |
the Pogues. I started getting into them a long time ago, and completely forgot about them, but thanks to pandora for reminding me :)
|
hot.
|
I see those lists a lot. Where are they from?
|

Wow, that response came in under 5 seconds. That was amazing.
Anyways, I tried Last.fm a couple weeks ago and it didnt work for my computer. But I started pandora tonight and freaking love it. |
I'm digging the music of Steve Reich. A LOT.
|
I Heart Hiroshima - Cut in Colour
I think I'll review this. |
yeah do it man
|
Done. Not my best though.
|
I Heart Hiroshima - Cut in Colour
I think I'll review this.
I still can't get hold of any of their material bar one song. |
http://www.ihearthiroshima.com
You can at least hear, if not download their first EP from there. You used to be able to download it, but I'm not sure if you can anymore now that they've released it through a record label. Their myspace has some songs too. I'm listening to Red House Painters. Mad props to Nacho and asymm for getting me into him. |
The Go Team! - Junior Kickstart
M.I.A - Sunshowers |
GoGoGo Airheart - Exitheuxa
This is pretty solid. Post-punky rock that's not too rough around the edges. |
The Flaming Lips' latest release has my ears.
It's getting such a bad rep, and I don't know why.
because dissing new material, especially new material that is not lo-fi, is in. |
Or maybe the songs aren't good.
|
they've just started making light-hearted, catchy pop music now.
i love it and their old stuff, but i would never say one is better. the music of both eras are really different from eachother, as well as written by different people and with different members. depending on my mood i usually prefer one over the other of course. but Steven is a great writer, i think. if you pay attention to the small details there's a lot of amazing things going on now (mostly on the Soft Bulletin, though). |
Yoshimi is not awful
|
Yoshimi is purely awful. The Soft Bulletin and Mystics are worse. Light-hearted music is cool, but that shit is so light-hearted it's anorexic. It's cute/twee in a sickeningly over the top way, and it's hard to listen to.
There are only a few songs that qualify for that on Yoshimi. The other ones out number those for great justice. |

Transmissions and Hit to Death were light-hearted, but with the right amount of wit and dark humor mixed in. Yoshimi is pure unadulterated rainbow Richard Simmons crap.
Hahaha Man, I hate the Flaming Lips |
I don't see how The Soft Bulletin is cute/twee.
I don't see how The Soft Bulletin is cute/twee.
it is in many places. like the way Race for the Prize sounds like, if it were instrumental, it could be used in a disney movie. and lots of the lyrics have a very cartoonish feel. i dig that though, it's a good change from so much bitterness. but then, of course, after too much of that i need to go back to the bitter stuff to balance it out again. |

I've heard all the mp3s they have on there, they're mad good. Unfortunately none of them are available for download but thanks for the link anyway. RHP are amazing as well. Depressing sometimes but pure amazing. |
Sleep Comes Down seems like a neat band, anyone here know more about them/like them?
|
Willie Dixon - I Am The Blues - Dug this one out today. Man this old boy can howl.
|
Gotye - Like Drawing Blood
Hmmm. I'm not sure if I like this or not yet. It's some German guy who lives in Australia now or something. The music is sort of electronic with strings and crap and all sorts of different percussion. And the guy has a pretty decent voice. I noticed a few good tracks, but some others made me cringe a little. For some reason it intrigues me. |
EiTS - The Rescue
Belle & Sebastian - Dear Catastrophe Waitress |
All right, now I have The Dillinger Escape Plan's cover of Melvins' "Honey Bucket." Pretty good, but I have no idea who the vocalist is. Doesn't sound like Greg or Dimitri, what??
