I play dissonant stuff all the time when I'm messing around during breaks at band practice, and everyone is always like "ugh that's horrible!" and I just nod my head in disappointment.

You have to have an attention span and appreciation of artistry to enjoy Opeth. It takes time to get used to them, but some people just can't handel music with real depth.

They were better than people were making them out to be at Gigantour. Windowpane could have been a little bit less drummy, but Axe did a decent job with it. Mike sounded quite good on vocals, and their sound was decent, aside from the acoustic simulators.

Carriers of Dust. It's pretty unique stuff, epic atmospheric brutal melodic technical black/death metal. It's the later of his two albums so far.

So yeah, Opeth > Mirrorthrone (although it's close) > Emperor.
