haha i actually have no clue why i asked people to email me. wait...oh yes. it was because we hadn't a clue on what to say, and thirteenthstep hadn't come up with that morse code stuff yet, so we needed to buy time.
Haha, as soon as you told me i worked out the errors in the logic you were saying it...you should have waited.

deadohiosky9 08-27-2005 04:22 PM

haha ****. you were tough though. i think you and AJIG were the only ones who didn't buy this.

Darkness 08-27-2005 04:28 PM
Those are my two favorite Tool songs, so the line gets blured anyway. I love the journey that Third Eye is...it's so intense and dark, whereas Lateralus is more an out-of-body kind of experience.
Indeed Third Eye is quite the experience. I like the out of body state all the songs on Lateralus put me through though, falling asleep to that album is incredible. (me and my bass player did it the other day... yes, we cheated and listened to Tool :p)

I never really bought it myself, but as time went by I started to believe a little bit... It just seemed to early, speically since they said something about spring of 2006.

They're probably my two favorites. If I had to pick a third, it would probably be 46&2. I find it kind of interesting that those three songs are all about (vaguely so) out of body experieinces. In Lateralus, it's about astral projection, 46&2 sounds like it could be about transcending, and Third Eye is kind of the catch all OBE.

I stopped beleiving after you said that you couldn't send me the email because you deleted it. I would have framed the fucking thing.

ohhh yes. congrats. you didn't buy it either.

Arrakakaka 08-27-2005 04:39 PM

How old is Maynard?

Kage 08-27-2005 04:40 PM

Wait, WHAT are we talking about here?

EDIT: ooohh, I just came across his "confession" of making up that symbol release date thing. Can I add to the record that I never believed it for a second?

Arrakakaka 08-27-2005 04:43 PM

Fgsfds.

Magicaltroll 08-27-2005 04:46 PM

Haha the vets weren't fooled.

The album will be spring 2006 by the looks, any sooner is a bit of a shock i think. The way blair is so relaxed seems to me like it is a while away.

Dude3 08-27-2005 05:48 PM

Well, I just wrote a cool riff, but it sounds like the first electric riff in In Flames' "Gyroscope". I need to go compare them, and see if they're they're too close to be able to use the riff. I think my riff will past the test of awesomeness.

And I really believed it. Brian posted a bulletin on Myspace talking about the Tool release date and prompt, and I was in this thread for like 24 hours straight.

I think its a nationality issue too, rule Britannia

Magicaltroll 08-27-2005 06:57 PM

Awww... AJIG thinks that Britain is better than the US.

How cute.

:p

Adam Jones is GOD 08-27-2005 06:58 PM

Nah, US is better than Britain

Just England pwns your crummy country :p

Ill avoid further country debates now, as if I piss off your country, they might not send over any Tool albums on the release date

Magicaltroll 08-27-2005 07:00 PM

That's right...

American vet, here, though. Sorry :p

YouGottaBeCrazy 08-27-2005 11:59 PM

All the newsletter did was make me even more confused than before. :(

paganman7 08-28-2005 12:10 AM

The newsletter was nonsense! All Blair did was confirm (most of us already knew) that Joe Baressi was producing or mixing the album, and show us the same pictures that are on Adam's page...thanks Blair!

By the way, the morse code was on the newlsetter...wtf?

Mother 08-28-2005 12:25 AM

Is it true that the lead singer of tool( I dont know his name:() removed his ribs so that he can show off his 3d tattoo he's got on his back?

I heard it somewhere and I just wanted to make sure its true.

Kage 08-28-2005 12:27 AM

Yeah, it's kind of weird, because he's basically like a snake. Without his ribs, he kind of slithers along and looks reptilian.

Very bizarre

Darkness 08-28-2005 12:27 AM

No.

Mother 08-28-2005 12:32 AM

I dont mean all his ribs maybe just one or two from either side.

Anyone else worried by the number of firearms Tool seem to have in their recording space?
Anyone else worried by the number of firearms Tool seem to have in their recording space?
It's obviously a precaution in case any crazed fans manage to get in to the studio.

I ahve discovered 30 seconds to mars, they are sounding good...opinions?

I am working on a cover of Coheed and Cambria's in keeping secrets of silent earth : 3 ...but My backing track is midi drums + bass...And cool edit won't let me mix these with my guitar parts, how do I make it so it does mix?

(cool edit is an older version of adobe audition)

Yeah i suspect someone here wil be able to help :)

Reywas 08-28-2005 07:18 AM

That's my favourite Coheed song.Good luck.

clearvision 08-28-2005 07:24 AM

hxxp://s43.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0U8VBVIJV1S0Q2HC0ALPFHFKOF

Here is the midi of drums + bass

If someone would convert it to a wav file using fruity loops or something I'd be a happy man, I have tried doing it but i suck with fruity loops and it wouldn't even play through it :(

Thats so weird. I'm just listening to that song as I read that.

30 Seconds to Mars sounded pretty average to me, trying to sound sophisticated with the strings and acoustic parts, but under it all it's just an actor trying to throw a record out. I might have to give the album another chance though.

I have a bootleg of an acoustic show they did.. It's absolutely amazing, and one of my favorite acoustic performances

Dude3 08-28-2005 08:15 AM

*starting the thread up again*
I really don't like Coheed, but I'll admit it. That "Welcome Home" song kicks butt.

Okay, this will sound really close minded, but its pointless to have 3 guitarists in a band. Unless you perform the most technical crapolla in the world, you really don't need 3 guitarists in your band. I can see where it would possibly be necassary every now and then for a band to have a 3rd guitarist for live shows(and it better be necassary). Its just, crappy emo bands do not need 3 guitarists(I can count two or three in my area).

It just really annoys me for some reason. I know I'm being very ignorant, but I have to get that off my chest. You better be Necrophagist+Al di Meola+Opeth X 100.

clearvision 08-28-2005 08:19 AM

Coheed stuff is pretty technical, and to my knowledge they only have 2 gutiars, well in IKSOSE3 they only have 2. This creates some great harmonies which i would show you but my comp is bieng a d!ck. Even if they aren't technical the band just may want to have a heavier sound, thicker without using loads of crappy pedals.

Oh no, I wasn't talking about Coheed. Just in general. Of course there can be layers and layers of guitars in recordings, but IMO you don't really need 3 guitarists in your band(this is really directed to these 2 emoish middle school bands in my neighborhood).

clearvision 08-28-2005 08:26 AM

Well if you have 3 important layers in the recording and need to replicate that live then you need 3 guitars. If one played is playing lead, and the other two are playing variations of the rhythm then 3 guitarists is needed giving a cool sound.

Futuro 08-28-2005 08:27 AM

yeah dude3, 3 guitar players is stupid.

and who is coheed? i thought i have heard of this band, it was some fat dude with high pitch vocals, please tell me this isnt the band you are talking about...

Dude3 08-28-2005 08:28 AM

I know. It just annoys me for some reason.(Ex.Hawthorne Heights).

clearvision 08-28-2005 08:32 AM

Hawthorne Heights are Ok :)

Yes coheed's lead singer has a very high voice.

Was it their new or their self titled album? I haven't heard their new one, but I've heard it's very different from their debut..
