Not a lot of active topics this time of day...

Umm... Whoever knows there this quote is from wins (?).

"If you were a hot dog, and you were stranded in the dessert with nothing to eat, would you eat yoruself?!? I would use mustard."

Good luck...

Jim Hull 10-16-2004 07:16 AM

I think you killed the thread radio!

I have no idea! Give us a clue... film, tv show, book etc.

risbo 10-16-2004 07:18 AM

I tried googling it but came up with nothing:upset:

Edit: That's right, googling's a verb...

Jim Hull 10-16-2004 07:20 AM

I also tried that. It came up with family guy quotes about hotdogs.

risbo 10-16-2004 07:38 AM

That's what I got to. :p

Just got my new speakers wired up and sorted.

Say yes to the combination of a 160GB Ext-HDD as a jukebox with my entire cd collection on it, running out through a Creative SoundBlaster Extigy 24-bit external sound module, then out through shiny new TDK NXT speakers with a powerful sub that resembles a tank shell!

JoeDaddio 10-16-2004 09:06 AM

I would probably be impressed if I knew what you were talking about. But, congrats anyways!

^ When you get bored of that, I can have it ...right?

Think of it as a powerful high quality stereo with the biggest cd-multichanger you ever saw.

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:07 AM
^ When you get bored of that, I can have it ...right?
Hah, do you know how much this lot cost me? The soundcard alone is worth £150!

gaslight 10-16-2004 09:09 AM

I'll just leave you my card :p.

Gotcha :thumb:

Sounds good to me. I bet your neighbors want to kick your bass though.

It's currently holding 100 albums, but that's barely scratched it. That's used 6.43 of the 160 Gigabytes of storage space available!

gaslight 10-16-2004 09:12 AM

Wow... I know what I want for Christmas.

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:15 AM

Compaq Presario 2143ea ~ £700
Maxtor 160GB Hardrive with Caddy ~£100
Extigy ~£150
TDK NXT speakers ~£50

That's a grand's worth of kit...

of course, the laptop also plays games, surfs the net and gets used for work.

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 09:16 AM

Hey guys..... That's a massive amount of music Winter...... I want it....

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:16 AM

Oh, I've got £40 wireless headphones for when loud music is antisocial.

The true beauty of having the cd collection uploaded is portability. When I go from home to uni I can pick up my music collection and put it in my pocket.

JoeDaddio 10-16-2004 09:17 AM

On my dads comp we've got 362 hours, 25 min, and 40 seconds of music. Taking up 16369.5 mb.

joe

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 09:17 AM

That's a lot for headphones. Studio quality?

I don't even know if I like enough music to fill that.:amaze:

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:19 AM

Nice, nice. What bitrate is it at? I find anything less than 192kbps a bit tinny and lacking in punch.

Mind you, given that 192 is cd quality, anything over that is a waste. Hurray for 192kbps!

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 09:19 AM
I don't even know if I like enough music to fill that.:amaze:
You could always get 50 or so live versions of every song you like....

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:20 AM
That's a lot for headphones. Studio quality?
They are good quality, but it's the fact that they're wireless that adds to the price. I can hit play then go to the kitchen and make dinner, there's a little transmitter on my desk.

Actually, I bet I could make it to the cornershop... experiment time!

risbo 10-16-2004 09:20 AM
You could always get 50 or so live versions of every song you like....
That would cover what...half a percent? :p

JoeDaddio 10-16-2004 09:22 AM

I don't know what bit rate it is at. They are all recorded directly from our CD's though, and they all sound as good as CD quality, and they all reproduce onto other CD's perfectly. So... yeah.... as you can tell, I'm not the most trechnical person around ;)

I won some in a raffle at a semi-pro hockey game once, but they are a bitch to set up, and you have to recharge them all of the time. My mom works at a library, and one of the companies they buy CD's from sent them nice headphones with them, and I've pirated them....
That would cover what...half a percent? My friend has a wireless internet transmitter in his house, he can pick it up from within one kilometre.

I'm going to get a wireless network thing when I get a laptop, so I can lie in bed and be on MX.

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:25 AM

I'm increasingly becoming a music tech nerd.

I sit here on my ridiculous sound system, plotting to buy a new six string, and thinking about a bit of Sound Engineering coursework we've got coming up. (using original 2" tape and a full pro standard analogue studio to remix Marvin Gaye)

That's what I do! I'm on a 2 megabit wireless connection (4 times standard broadband) It's spiffy.

I wish I could do all of that, but I'm only dreaming of them...... The 6er being the closest to reality...

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:31 AM

Oh, this time next week I'll be running Cubase VST as well. It's on the Synthetic and Computer Audio Engineering suite computers in Uni. Our lecturer basically said:

"Obviously I can't condone software piracy, don't be absurd. You all brought your blank discs? You need to burn these coursework files here. Out of interest, this is where they put the Cubase VST installer. Funny that."

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 09:32 AM

drools... Sounds technical? And damn good?

I'm stupid when it comes to expensive things like this...

BassVirtuoso 10-16-2004 09:33 AM

Did you notice we are the only forum without an active American mod

I declare an American Revolution.

THE BRITISH AND AUSTRALIAN ARE COMING, SOUND THE BELLS!

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 09:34 AM

Nope.

Wintermute 10-16-2004 09:37 AM

LR may not be so active right now, but she is a Supermod, you know. She's a lot more powerful than me and MadThumbs.

PaulSimonon 10-16-2004 09:38 AM

But she's gone.... The first mod I ever knew..... :upset:....

BassVirtuoso 10-16-2004 09:39 AM

Exactly, which means that our Dread King James cannot control the church of England anymore with his corruption and blasphemies. WE MUST RISE AGAINST WE MUST CREATE A GLORIUS REVOLUTION
