How do you play the intro?
how? with my four fingers and a pick 1.00mm... or what do you mean?

Squirrel 02-09-2006 10:33 AM
Nope, I never have, although I'd like to. My teacher is a jazz guitarist though, so that's what I play.

Although lately I haven't been able to make as many lessons thanks to my job, and I'm progressing very slowly.
At least choose a good Decapitated album to use as an avatar :p

kurrpt 02-09-2006 10:38 AM

Burn!!

PsychoticFlubber 02-09-2006 01:52 PM

Hmm... the only song I think I know 100% of is Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana haha. Although, alot of punk-type songs with mostly power chords are easy. I don't know any metal songs that are easy enough... I have barely practiced in 2 or 3 weeks. Everything's been too crazy. I still should learn Angels Don't Kill some more.

Hey, I combined Organic Hallucinosis and Winds of Creation into one avatar! :p

I like the new one anyway. The riffs sound great, if only it wasn't for the horendous vocalist. Nothing beats WoC though.

Shattered_Future 02-09-2006 01:58 PM

I should listen to those eventually...:p

My teacher is a show tunes guitarist, oddly enough.

He knows a bunch of jazz theory though, along with my dad...plus, having a show tunes guitarist is a good thing when you're playing guitar in the pit for Les Miserables. :p

Black Sabbath - Paranoid is a very easy metal song.
or metallica - am i evil is easy too

edit: most metallica songs aren't that hard
f.e.: metallica - seek and destroy; master of puppets isn't even that hard...

this were all my first metal-songs i've learnt (main riffs... i never learnt a whole song)

I hate metallica with a passion. Their songs are lame and simple to play though.

Sweet Leaf by Black Sabbath is REALLLLLLY easy.

The whole song is like 3 or something riffs. :p

repcak 02-09-2006 03:20 PM

most black sabbath songs are easy (even easier than metallica).

iron man is awesome and even easier than paranoid :D

MRDuCran 02-09-2006 03:28 PM

Repcak, I meant how do you play the intro to Lake Bodom tab wise.

Metallica songs aren't easy, most of them have sections that are trickier than most people think, and so have Bodom.

repcak 02-09-2006 04:16 PM

i have the tab from mysongbook.com for gp4 ... there is a version where you play arpeggios, i play the other version; without arpeggios

-----------------------------------12-17-----
----10-12-13-10--10-12-13--------------
------------------------------------------------
14-----------------------------------------14
-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------
and repeat

...was it this what you wanted to know?

MRDuCran 02-09-2006 04:49 PM

Yeah.

Btw, saying "there is a version where you play arpeggios, i play the other version; without arpeggios" doesn't actually make sense.

An arpeggio is just playing notes of a chord individually which is what this intro is, mainly Amin with other notes from the Amin scale, so I think you must mean string skipping instead of sweeping.

Shadows 02-09-2006 04:52 PM

Music theory ftw

I started Night's Blood last night and was kicking more *** than I thought I would. Time to tune down and play some Shadows Fall at the same time. :)

MRDuCran 02-09-2006 04:58 PM

Night's Blood is by...?

Shadows 02-09-2006 05:06 PM

DISSECTION

MRDuCran 02-09-2006 05:09 PM

Never heard of em.

Toaster 02-09-2006 05:11 PM

That whole album is pretty meh, in my opinion. Night's Blood is probably the best song.

Shadows 02-09-2006 05:13 PM

Fools!

I dunno, i've listened to WoC for years so its wearing thin.

The Negation is my favorite and has been for a bit now.

The new album sucks except for about 2 riffs and 2 leads.

Shadows 02-09-2006 05:24 PM

I like The Negation too, but I find Nihility pretty boring.

ähm... yes... i'm not the best in theory. my mistake... you're right, i meant string skipping instead of sweeping

I'm Charming 02-09-2006 06:03 PM

Ben... What do you tune to? and everyone else here?

I play in Drop D, DADGBE, sometimes standard.

Silenius 02-09-2006 06:08 PM
Ben... What do you tune to? and everyone else here?

Standard E or down two whole steps to C.

Shadows 02-09-2006 06:12 PM

I'm usually in standard E but I downtune to whatever I feel like playing in. It's always different.

Huber 02-09-2006 06:14 PM

In my guitar class were learning blues improv, so when practicing that I play in standard. Otherwise, if I'm just playing something independantly I almost always play in Drop D.

MRDuCran 02-09-2006 06:44 PM

I practise in standard E and jam in standard D, since I play alot of Bodom.
But I'm trying to practise more, agh dam pc addiction.

IheartSP 02-09-2006 06:45 PM

Damn you Ducran, your now 8 posts ahead of me!

Joe Metal 02-09-2006 06:54 PM

i tell ya what... Alexi Laiho may be good, prolly one of the best shred metal players in this modern era.... but i want to say that COB's synth player (Janne Warman) is awesome. i dont think ive seen a keyboard player go so fast man im tellin ya.... that band has so much talent its not even funny... when you got alexi shreddin` and the keyboard player playing the same thing i would have to say that... wow thas crazy stuff... i would think keys are a lot harder to play at those kinds of speeds

Toaster 02-09-2006 07:10 PM

I usually play in standard tuning. I have a guitar with thick strings that I pretty much tune to whatever I feel like playing, but it feels so wrong to do that on my main guitar, for some reason. I mainly dislike the looser feel and poor intonation that comes with tuning down while using light strings.

Shattered_Future 02-09-2006 07:12 PM

Main guitar = standard.

Backup = usually drop C, occasionally others.

Acoustic = whatever I feel like.
