One of the best soul/funk/r & b records ever made it. Flawless.
That's for damn sure. |
Calling Songs in the Key of Life flawless is silly. It's like saying "The White Album" is perfect. Both records are overblown to the point that the strokes of genius are rubbing right up against intense honkers.
I think Songs in the Key of Life is one of the few exceptions when it comes to double albums. The White Album is definitely overblown, but SitKoL seems pretty close to flawless to me. Which songs would you call "intense honkers?"
I agree with the desert to the extent that it's neither my favorite nor, in my opinion, Stevie's masterpiece. But it's easily one of the best double albums I've ever heard. I've got no beef with it.
More people need to refer to Frank Zappa's catalog to see how to do double albums right.
Apparently "Double Nickels on the Dime" by Minutemen was a double album, but in these days of compact discs we can fit the whole thing on one CD.
So there's a good double album I guess. |
I guess I have like 47 posts to make in just under half an hour. Not gonna happen.
Best double albums = Exile on Main St and London Calling and Blonde on Blonde
Slint are quite good.
The one song I've heard was very good.
What did you hear?
I have a Slint song on my computer called "Heavy Vegetable" but I can't find out what album it was on. Apparently it's none of them
Spiderland is a must have. Tweez is amazing, as well.
So Disneyland is kind of fun in small doses.
Heavy Vegetable is the name of a band that a friend of mine is into. I haven't heard them yet.
Oh, and Slint is entirely awesome.
I can't remember the name, but it was from Spiderland and I think I heard it on their label's website.

Disneyworld is so much better. |
The song I heard was "Nosferatu Man."
Here's the song I was talking about. Who/what is it really?

I've never been to Disneyworld.

How about Eels - Blinking Lights and Other Revelations, Wilco - Being There? Actually, those are just runners up, too, cuz the greatest, in my ever so humble opinion is Physical Graffiti. |
I've never been to Disneyworld.
I've been to Disneyworld and I live in Australia. It was good at the time. |
Freak Out! is only 60 minutes, but it was on two LPs. One of the first, if not the very first rock album to span such a wealth of vinyl. Then of course there was Uncle Meat a few years later, then Joe's Garage and the three LP Läther in the 70s. All outstanding albums.
Joe's Garage is incredible.
Only 23 posts left.
Quick, go to r/m! |
Eek.
20.
I can't stop listening to Jesu, Mono, and Slint.
so i just got caught sneaking back in from a nice 1:30am stroll, and because my parent(parents probably by tomorrow; my dad doesnt know yet) jumped to the conclusion it was to go meet some people (it wasn't; i couldnt sleep, but i really wouldnt have minded if i saw them); i have a feeling i won't be on the internet for quite awhile.
until next time. |
