Little Man being Erased 07-05-2005 04:35 PM
One of the best soul/funk/r & b records ever made it. Flawless.
That's for damn sure.

Parfait 07-05-2005 05:04 PM

Calling Songs in the Key of Life flawless is silly. It's like saying "The White Album" is perfect. Both records are overblown to the point that the strokes of genius are rubbing right up against intense honkers.

Little Man being Erased 07-05-2005 05:14 PM

I think Songs in the Key of Life is one of the few exceptions when it comes to double albums. The White Album is definitely overblown, but SitKoL seems pretty close to flawless to me. Which songs would you call "intense honkers?"

Robert Crumb 07-05-2005 05:19 PM

I agree with the desert to the extent that it's neither my favorite nor, in my opinion, Stevie's masterpiece. But it's easily one of the best double albums I've ever heard. I've got no beef with it.

Parfait 07-05-2005 06:16 PM

More people need to refer to Frank Zappa's catalog to see how to do double albums right.

YDload 07-05-2005 08:40 PM

Apparently "Double Nickels on the Dime" by Minutemen was a double album, but in these days of compact discs we can fit the whole thing on one CD.

So there's a good double album I guess.

Parfait 07-05-2005 09:30 PM

I guess I have like 47 posts to make in just under half an hour. Not gonna happen.

Tomahawk 07-05-2005 10:55 PM

Best double albums = Exile on Main St and London Calling and Blonde on Blonde

ATM 07-05-2005 10:55 PM

Slint are quite good.

Little Man being Erased 07-05-2005 10:57 PM

The one song I've heard was very good.

ATM 07-05-2005 10:57 PM

What did you hear?

YDload 07-05-2005 10:58 PM

I have a Slint song on my computer called "Heavy Vegetable" but I can't find out what album it was on. Apparently it's none of them

Dog 07-05-2005 10:59 PM

Spiderland is a must have. Tweez is amazing, as well.

BillCosby 07-05-2005 10:59 PM

So Disneyland is kind of fun in small doses.

Parfait 07-05-2005 10:59 PM

Heavy Vegetable is the name of a band that a friend of mine is into. I haven't heard them yet.

Parfait 07-05-2005 11:00 PM

Oh, and Slint is entirely awesome.

Little Man being Erased 07-05-2005 11:00 PM

I can't remember the name, but it was from Spiderland and I think I heard it on their label's website.
So Disneyland is kind of fun in small doses.
Disneyworld is so much better.

Little Man being Erased 07-05-2005 11:05 PM

The song I heard was "Nosferatu Man."

YDload 07-05-2005 11:07 PM

Here's the song I was talking about. Who/what is it really?

Hmm...

Glitterati 07-05-2005 11:19 PM

I've never been to Disneyworld.
Best double albums = Exile on Main St and London Calling and Blonde on Blonde
How about Eels - Blinking Lights and Other Revelations, Wilco - Being There? Actually, those are just runners up, too, cuz the greatest, in my ever so humble opinion is Physical Graffiti.

Little Man being Erased 07-05-2005 11:33 PM
I've never been to Disneyworld.
I've been to Disneyworld and I live in Australia. It was good at the time.

Parfait 07-06-2005 12:04 AM

Freak Out! is only 60 minutes, but it was on two LPs. One of the first, if not the very first rock album to span such a wealth of vinyl. Then of course there was Uncle Meat a few years later, then Joe's Garage and the three LP Läther in the 70s. All outstanding albums.

ATM 07-06-2005 12:05 AM

Joe's Garage is incredible.

Zmev 07-06-2005 12:47 AM

Only 23 posts left.

Quick, go to r/m!

Parfait 07-06-2005 12:49 AM

Eek.

Glitterati 07-06-2005 01:00 AM

20.

ATM 07-06-2005 01:02 AM

I can't stop listening to Jesu, Mono, and Slint.

biografiend 07-06-2005 01:03 AM

so i just got caught sneaking back in from a nice 1:30am stroll, and because my parent(parents probably by tomorrow; my dad doesnt know yet) jumped to the conclusion it was to go meet some people (it wasn't; i couldnt sleep, but i really wouldnt have minded if i saw them); i have a feeling i won't be on the internet for quite awhile.

until next time.
