Do you have one of those portable ones, with effects, amp, etc.. built directly in? Those look extremely cool, although I've never heard one played, so they could sound cheap.

Mr Herb 08-26-2005 10:42 PM

waT? I have a fernandez starters kit,its very good

Moses 08-26-2005 11:48 PM

Wow, Jake that's awesome. Yes, DIOSKY9 that was very ******* like of you but props on fooling everyone.

i got lateralus. it was pretty cool, ill have to listen to it again, didnt match my expectations since everyone in the R&M forum loooves Tool.

seemed like a lot of the songs were just dragged on, but a pretty rockin album for the most part. maynard's voice is too weak and sad at times, but it gives a darkness to the album, which is cool i guess. not a a very powerful voice tho, even on that huge scream in grudge, hes got the range but not the height if you know what i mean.

album is too long for me to really enjoy on a daily basis, average length of the song has got to be like 7 1/2minutes?, not counting those pointless 1minuters. but a pretty solid album, which one should i get next?

It'll grow on you. I didn't like the album much at all when I first got it.

Go for Aenima
Go for Aenima
yes. The best introduction to Tool is Aenima. In fact, it will make you appreciate Lateralus in a new way. Trust us dude, get Aenima.

Uh, arn't you missing the dot on the right there? That would make it not opposites at all.

Surely it should be |•|•|•|-.•|•.-|-|•|-|

And thats missing off one of the -'s anyway.

In regards to the bloke who wasn't fond of Lateralus:

As everybody says: It grows on you. Have a look into the lyrics too because when you start to get some of them, it all becomes a much more interesting listen.

It took Lateralus to make me truly appreciate Aenima. When I first got it, I loved Stinkfist and Aenema, but the rest of the album I thought was kind of average. After Lateralus blew me away, I began to appreciate songs like Pushit, Eulogy, H. and Third Eye a whole lot more. The 'epic' nature of the songs on Lateralus is really what made Tool what they are for me.

Hey guys. Ohio Sky and 13th step, I forgive you. It was pretty friken funny.

I might be going to the mall today, and I want to pick up a Pelican cd(assuming they have them). I'm having a tough time deciding which one to get. I've been leaning on their new one, but I've heard Autralasia is better. What do you suggest I pick up by them?

Or maybe I'll pick up an Isis cd. Dang, what Isis cd shall I get? I'm thinking Panopticon. Is that the best choice?

Syncratic 08-27-2005 10:00 AM

I believe that Ænima was an album that showed a lot of emotion, also it showed where the band stands on a lot of issues.

Lateralus is mostly spiritual and epic. End of story.

NP: Willie the Pimp-Frank Zappa featuring Captain Beefheart.

Adam Jones is GOD 08-27-2005 10:08 AM

Best newsletter update ever. That song structure board is awesome

And  at Jake getting Adam Jones'd

Any Pelican CD you get is a good choice. They're both amazing in different, yet similar ways. For Isis, I recommend Oceanic.

I seemed to have missed a lot in this thread.

/goes back several pages to catch up

Magicaltroll 08-27-2005 11:04 AM

Isis-Oceanic is great.

Hey everyone, go check out my new OMGWAGB thread :D

Pelican's new one is a more atmospheric approach, but all of their stuff is different.

Same with Isis. I prefer the new one, but all of their stuff is different. It's a hard choice.

Turbonegro 08-27-2005 11:30 AM

Well, I just found out that that whole code thing that I included in the last message was all bull****. Made up by some fan who had way too much time on his hands.

Sorry about that, I was really curious, and now that I know that it's all bull, disregard that whole bit.

But I would still love it if you answered the other questions in that last message I sent you.

Again, sorry.

Probably late this year. Estimated.

repcak 08-27-2005 12:18 PM

is it really that important when the album is coming out? for me it doesn't matter... its tool! when its released its released

Darkness 08-27-2005 12:20 PM

Its just... We've been waiting so long...

Huber 08-27-2005 12:20 PM

Knowing when an album comes out and anticipating up until that day and getting it right away and taking it in for the first time is a great experience. Knowing when it's out is a pretty big deal.

Syncratic 08-27-2005 12:26 PM

At least we have some discussion going on.

Earlier this week was slow.

Ahh.....school Monday, but I don't care.

Huber 08-27-2005 12:27 PM

I start Monday too. I don't care though, all my classes are super easy this year except two.
