I dislike Sinergy. They're way too generic for me.

I need insanity in my metal, like the almighty ungodly shredfeasting of Dragonforce. *drools*

Shattered_Future 02-08-2006 02:48 PM

Mmmm...magic Asian.

Goddamn CBGBs sold out of DF tickets the day they went on sale. Bastards.

Shadows 02-08-2006 02:50 PM

Confound it! I would have been quite upset.
What position shift?
After the intro going into the lead riff.

7th fret to 11th.

It's not that far, it's just the speed to play it crisp.
nah, id rather go to their shows. The record label gets like 95% of the money from CD purchases
QFT.

Buying cds doesn't support anyone but the fat fags sitting in their offices counting the money fly by.......

I <3 torrents.

I don't play that, I play the rhythm underneath so I don't actually know how to play it, I shud try.

Neither riff is hard at all.

It just gives me alot of trouble.

It's not the shift or riff.

I just have a hard time playing it cleanly going from one riff to the other.

MRDuCran 02-08-2006 04:34 PM

I see. I'll learn it another time. I need to focus on recording the songs I already know.

Shadows 02-08-2006 05:24 PM

Finally, tabbing Night's Blood! :) Expect me to be drinking damnation's wine very very soon.
I see. I'll learn it another time. I need to focus on recording the songs I already know.
It's a great song.

I think I know basically nothing for playing a couple years.

Only whole song I still know is Raining Blood from Slayer.

I've know so many whole songs and parts of songs(that i was going to learn all of it)...then just forgot they existed.

I knew significant parts of every time i die, bodom beach terror and needled 24 7 and in your face. I was "going to learn the whole thing". That lasted quick.

Same with Nemisis and Pull Harder....

Beast and the harlot as well.

I think it's pretty pathetic for playing a couple years...only knowing one whole song...

I learn half a song and then want to learn another. Forget about the one I learned half of and onto the next. Repeat cycle...alot.. I wind up forgotting everything and knowing nothing. :thumb:

\end rant

EDIT:

I could name the whole songs I knew but that would be even more sad.

Don't feel bad. I've been playing for a couple years and I don't know any except for Stairway to Heaven that my teacher taught me in the very beginning.

I'm precisely the same way you are. I tell myself that I'm going to learn a whole song and lose interest after a while. Consequently, I know 1000000 odd riffs and no full songs. It sucks, but I'm trying to change that with Night's Blood. :)

Most people don't learn alot of Whole songs. I didn't really learn any songs fully until I took lessons, and that because I have to.

I think that would actually prolly be one big plus if I did take lessons.

I can teach myself almost anything on my own and anything I don't know I can ask my dad who's played for 30 + years.

Lessons would actually "force" me to do something though. I'd actually have too.

I have very low motivation except when I must do well. IE my college classes.

I know how that is! :p

I was inspired to learn LoG's Laid To Rest about an hour ago. Now I'm on the computer.
I was going to look for a Dream Theater tab, thats why I went on the internetz. That hasn't happened either.

I know about 10 000 riffs and two songs. I forgot to mention bloodline... haha that's bonehead simple though so it doesn't count.

Shadows 02-08-2006 05:53 PM

I've been taking lessons for years, but it doesn't help. If anything, it makes learning full songs harder, because now I have to work on theory and exercises for my weekly lessons while working in the stuff I want to do on the side.

Switching topics for a second, what do you guys think of this new avatar?

Have you ever tried "the light that blinds"?

Tried learning the song? Nope, but it's on my to-do list.

Have you ever given Classical a try? If not you should, it ties into metal very well/

Toaster 02-08-2006 06:12 PM

The Light That Blinds isn't a very fun song to learn or play. A lot of the riffs and leads are performed sloppily on the recording, and it's hard to duplicate that sloppiness.

On the topic of learning songs, if you get into a band and start covering songs it totally motivates you. Not only do you want to learn songs to play with your band, but you want to learn them perfectly to make your band sound better.

Nope, I never have, although I'd like to. My teacher is a jazz guitarist though, so that's what I play.

Although lately I haven't been able to make as many lessons thanks to my job, and I'm progressing very slowly.

Tyr 02-08-2006 06:17 PM

Does anyone know how the show in Stockholm was? Since it's coming on DVD, I mean. I was unable to go, but then I heard about the live DVD and I felt a little better.

i plan to change it with "lake bodom", but in the last few days i realized that i'm loosing interest :/ though can play the intro, the bridge (to the first/main riff) and the main riff.

MRDuCran 02-08-2006 09:18 PM

How do you play the intro?

Britton 02-08-2006 11:27 PM

I do the same thing with learning songs...I learn 70% of it then I move on.

But I've been really good lately. Sometimes All I want to learn is a couple riffs from the song. As you all know I'm learning the 5th caprice at the moment...and it's taking lots of patiance...But I'm 1/3 of the way through without straining to hard.

I think I know about 20 songs all the way through...but some of them are pretty simple AKA Audio slave type stuff
