I read it already.

As usual, no big revelations.

Sigh. Nothing big, as always.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-26-2005 09:27 PM

Did you read MY post? Biggest Tool revelation in months, I reckon!!

BlindWriting 08-26-2005 09:28 PM

You just might be right about that.

Rothmans 08-26-2005 09:30 PM

Well if anyone interested I just done a Neurosis review

That newsletter was alright, the picture of their board was awesome.

METAL X 4

Magicaltroll 08-26-2005 09:35 PM

What does opposite have to do with anything?

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-26-2005 09:38 PM

There have been numerous rumors about the new album involving opposite pairs.

Plus, this rumor ties in with my Tool=Pagan theory, as opposites are considered sacred. :p

Static 08-26-2005 09:40 PM

Like the whole Light is to Dark as blah is to blah thing.

BlindWriting 08-26-2005 09:40 PM

Well I feel like I waited a long time for absolutely nothing.
That bit about the new Maynard vocals was awesome, but then they went onto say that they weren't using them. So nothing is learned.

Goddamnit.

Alright seeing as how Dr.Jackdestructo has gotten all this new Tool info and whatnot, i find it to be a good time to reveal a few things. Thirteenthstep and I were bored as hell during summer a month or two ago, and we had met the pervious year in the tool thread, etc. So I thought we'd prank some tool fans, just get them excited see what happens, though i truly doubted anyone would believe me if I just went in the forum after a year and was like I GOT NEW TOOL NEWS BLAH BLAH. Tool fans are smart. So i thought i'd pick up this Morse Code controversy, and see if i could somehow convince the people in this thread that it was a release date. yeah im an a.sshole i know, im sorry. bored kills. anyways. so i was talking to him, and that was when i made that post that i knew blair and had new info and to IM me. once i got some IMs i made up s.hit about album themes, liike light and dark, astronomy and whatnot. hell i don't even remember, its been a while. so Thirteenthstep made this ( i have no f.ucking idea how, it still puzzles the hell out of me) ***-**--*-- = original symbol
Take the first 6 characters, because generally in a date there are 6 characters, for example (09/25/05)

***-**
There are 5 stars altogether, each with 5 points.
The first 3 stars, if multiplied by their points (3 x 5) would be 15.
The second set of stars, then multiplied by their points (2 x 5) would be 10.
This adds up to the 25th, the day of the last quarters of the moon, but Sundays are generally not days for a CD to be released.
Therefore the line, which is one by one persay, would simply be 1 and when added to the others would be 26, Monday.

--*--
The second 5 characters are the month.
Once again the star rule applies, 1 star multiplied by its 5 points would be 5.
When added to the four lines, this makes the ninth month, September, whose day the 25th is the last quarter of the moon.

Blair also affirmed this date, and added he could not make the information obvious at all to his fans, therefore he made it almost impossible, especially by putting the day before the month.

yeah so all that was made up. sorry guys. but it just worked sooo well. and then the whole the next day being national tool day, and the MJK website update, and the updates and toolband and s.hit. it was beginning to get creepy. because all this wasj ust made up, none of it is true. its kind of brilliant in a way, but mean/as.sholeish as well. yeah sorry guys. i bet i'll get banned or some s.hit. so yeah i don't really know blair, and sept. 25th is not a release date, its just a random date i pulled out of my a.ss, that Thirteenthstep fit into the morse code amazingly. also i had told everyone not to tell, so if you look back you'll see that it was Thirteenthstep who spilled the beans, that was planned. it was intended for him to "accidentally" say everything i told him, so as to cause chaos/discussion/suspicion or whatever in the thread. so yeah. i guess we've had out fun. sorry to disappoint, i really am. so yeah thats the truth. img onna get flamed for this.

Darkness 08-26-2005 09:43 PM

That vocal style thing they spoke of sounded weird... I want at least SOME classic Maynard... but yeah they said their not using em anyway.

When you get onto the main Tool page, click the "News" button, even though you're already there, and you will see options for "News", "Newsletter", and "15 Mintutes".

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-26-2005 09:49 PM

Dudes, dudes, duuuudes. Chill out. Think how brilliant this really is. I mean, you're all just jealous you had thought it up, right?

deadohiosky9 08-26-2005 09:52 PM
Oh ok.

Strange... a Tool fan whos into emo...
haha i guess so. thirteenthstep is into emo too. im surprised i dont meet many tool fans into emo, because i find tool to be pretty emotional.

Darkness 08-26-2005 09:53 PM

Maybe in the older days, but I find Lateralus is more spiritual, rather then Maynard just being angry.

deadohiosky9 08-26-2005 09:58 PM

I agree, Laterlaus is more spiritual, where as Aenema was probably the more emotional album.

Lateralias 08-26-2005 10:03 PM

Wow we are just fed more Blairesque info.... I'm growing impatient but I know the wait must be worth it.

ThirteenthStep 08-26-2005 10:04 PM

helllllo. i guess you all know about the prank, i was in on it with deadohiosky. sorry if u guys are mad about it, but it was pretty **** funny i have to say. this wasnt like to make fun of u guys, it was mainly cause we were bored out of our minds. so yeah, i hope u guys enjoyed that. or not. it was all in good fun. and tool still kicks as.s

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-26-2005 10:04 PM

/me emails Blair
Here I was, innocently messaging the beloved Adam Jones through myspace, trying to convince him that I knew stuff I shouldn't, and here's the response I got back from him:

From: A D A M
Date: Aug 18, 2005 7:26 PM
Subject: ||||.|.||||
Body: jake
please leave positive comments
blairs one of my best friends
i hope your kidding
and its • • • - • • - - • - -
A

I saw the subject, and I thought "hmm, I wonder what that is?"

Then, luckily for myself, Adam included the original series of dots and dashes. I noticed how he also included spaces between each character, and somehow, my mind made the connection that there are an equal number of characters in each series. So, I intertwined them, and got this :

|•|•|•|-.•|•.-|-|-|-|

I suppose you could place the dot in front of the vertical line, but either way, the series is an exact opposite, which sort of carries along with these rumors I've been hearing about Maynard writing lyrics about light and dark, and other opposite pairs.

The time is right. Every avvid Tool fan is dying to know what exactly is up with this odd assortment of symbols, and I would like you to tell us exactly what is going on here. If anything, please email me back with something about sausagues, just so I know this link isn't some cheap gimmick.

Without Wax,

Jake

(I hope you're as big of a Dan Brown fan as I expect you to be)

Rothmans 08-26-2005 10:05 PM

Ah I will admit I would of loved to of made something like that, that is brilliant and really well done but still I wouldnt dare torture a very eager fan if someone came out with that with Neurosis god...

It's a reference to the documentary The Aristocrats.
