It does seem to me like people who are a bit simpler enjoy life a bit easier.

FlamingCouch 08-31-2010 09:39 AM

As a stupid person, allow me to state being stupid is a toss-up.

I'm able to really enjoy the little things, but too dumb/apathetic to take a step ahead in any direction because I (stupidly) long for the days where I could still change things... which is also stupid because I can't change the past.

Although I also consider post-secondary education (specifically the insane amounts of dough one shells out for it) stupid as well, as you're constantly paying off bills forever and ever... so I guess to me the whole scheme of keeping a person in debt their whole life is pretty stupid.

I dunno, I'm stupid. :)
It's worth worrying if something sounds bad straight after you did it.
lol? have you ever even recorded anything? if no, plz stop talking

thx

gaslight 08-31-2010 10:08 AM

Depending on what you mean, have I been recorded in studio, yes, have I recorded stuff at home, yes too. So I guess it doesn't depend actually. I'm not into the fiddly production and mixing end of it though, I'm usually only it to set up a good sound straight in and not really touch it after that. Nothing professional sounding, but better than full-band and a webcam-mic kinda shit.

proof or quiet

gaslight 08-31-2010 10:15 AM

If you're good I'll write and record you a little song for your birthday.

gaslight 08-31-2010 10:18 AM

Actually really if I record something chill sometime with like guitar and bass can you whack beats to it and do unsettlingly contrasting vocals?

Epidemechanical 08-31-2010 10:19 AM

uhh if it doesnt suck maybe lol

gaslight 08-31-2010 10:24 AM

The playing won't suck but you probably won't like the style.

Spaceman Spiff 08-31-2010 10:38 AM

Oh, look. A picture of my ripping on my Jazzmaster. I haven't actually named it or anything because I think that shit's lame, so I jokingly call it DJ Jazzy Jeff.

gaslight 08-31-2010 10:41 AM

Yeah naming instruments is definitely only allowed if you're BB King.

Spaceman Spiff 08-31-2010 10:45 AM

Well, I'm not saying it's not allowed... I just don't see the point. If I'm naming my guitar, I might as well name my TV, computer, couch, etc.

I just play it. It needs no name.

Epidemechanical 08-31-2010 10:46 AM

who is that ugly black guy in the pic?

Spaceman Spiff 08-31-2010 10:50 AM

He's the singer of the band. He's doing a pretty good job, too. We need to tell him to stop sounding so feminine when he sings, though.

FunkMetalBass 08-31-2010 11:05 AM

I'm still waiting for both my wine and that cheapie 3-band preamp to arrive. They should both be here, hopefully, by the end of the week.

In the meantime, I'm building my girlfriend a desk. I'll be learning how to weld on Thursday so I should be on to fit & finish by early next week.

The next project on the list, after fixing the finish on that OLP, is to go back to my HXB-406 and possibly continue the conversion process to a fanned-fretless 6 (35" - 32").

FlamingCouch 08-31-2010 11:11 AM

Learning to weld? Oomph, that sounds awesome FMB.
Well, I'm not saying it's not allowed... I just don't see the point. If I'm naming my guitar, I might as well name my TV, computer, couch, etc.

I fully endorse this... sometimes I want to name an instrument and sometimes I do, but also a lot of times I've done that shortly afterwards it's kind of gone to shit. with my Jazzmaster I'll probably just eventually come up with some sort of reference for it... actually, come to think of it the guys and I jokingly call it my pimp cane thanks to the Juggernaut bitch video.

and I half-heartedly call my (seems like it'll never begin) project Jazz Bass Sombrero Dave, being that I bought it from a ebay user named Dave and it's a Mexi Jazz.

but anyways. What kinda welding FMB? Stick, wire-feed?

Spaceman Spiff 08-31-2010 11:20 AM

Calling it DJ Jazzy Jeff is the closest I'll probably ever get to naming an instrument. And, like, my Tele can be Castor Troy from Face-Off.

fatbandit 08-31-2010 12:52 PM

Are you fucking tiny, or is that a fucking massive guitar?

EADGCFBb 08-31-2010 12:58 PM
I've heard of it, but I've never been there. Perhaps I'll check it out at some point.

So, you wanna come to my place and play music sometime or what? Probably not? That's okay. Invitation is there, though.
Do you want to maybe play a show at Rancho sometime?

EADGCFBb 08-31-2010 12:58 PM
like who the fuck just tracks and then is all like "ok well who knows if it sounds good lets come back later" lol
What's it matter

Spaceman Spiff 08-31-2010 02:12 PM
Are you fucking tiny, or is that a fucking massive guitar?
I'm not tiny, but I'm not very big. 5'7, 150 pounds. And the guitar does have a bit of a big body. It's not very heavy and super comfortable to play, though.

Spaceman Spiff 08-31-2010 02:13 PM
Do you want to maybe play a show at Rancho sometime?
Most definitely. I've only been there once, the sound was decent but not great, but I'd still totally play there.

fatbandit 08-31-2010 02:58 PM

Even the neck looks big, not just the body. But if you're 5'7 that would probably explain it a bit.

Been doing a lot of programming in the last couple weeks, and it's made me think I kinda wanna learn to play drums. I love the idea of having a really nice small kit, suited more for kind of drum and bass sounds. Like maybe a 20" bass drum with double pedals, one 14" snare and one piccolo snare, a pair of hats and just one cymbal. Probably a crashable ride, maybe put a small splash/crash on top of it. Just seems really neat, and a bit different from the massive rock kits everyone always wants to play.

Though it would be much cheaper to just get an electric kit and just trigger Steven Slate Drums off it or something :p But tons gayer.

Cool. I can't guarantee anything at this point, but hook me up with some tracks when they're done and I'll see what I can do.

Do you have some sort of sway there? Or are you just looking to play a show together?

If it can help get us shows, I'll hook a couple of songs before we mix, though I'd prefer not to... Really, I just so badly want to get back into playing live.

I promote there rarely. Usually twice a month.

I would just need the songs to get an idea of your sound.

Oh, cool.

In that case, give me your email and I'll give you something to check. We'd love to get some shows going on, so if you could get something for us I'd be really appreciative.

I saw this band Datura there a few months ago. They were wicked but they've broken up, which is too bad, they were one of the few bands in the city that I really liked.

BenJammin 08-31-2010 10:13 PM

Playing live is the best.
