When I first joined, they were allowed. THen there was a period for a while where avatars and signatures were disabled. Then they brought avatars back. I've never ever had one, though.

Ok guys I'm done. Pardon the long read but I tend to do that:

First off, I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read and reply to musicianforums.com. I find it admirable that you actually took the time to reply to some random e-mail. I guess you aren't corrupted by fame yet.

But anyways, judging by your e-mail (maybe I am interpreting it wrong), you seem skeptical of MX tab's forum. It is actually a large forum with exactly 78,443 members. Musicianforums is divided into groupings such as Guitar, Drums, Bass, etc. It also has general discussion and other music related sub-forums. MX is actually free, so that works out for you.

As a whole the bass forum is very decent. We have some outstanding members there. Several members are extremely talented and are pursuing album dreams or gigging. Some are luthiers and others are just looking for some bass information and having fun (which was the case today). I wouldn't be discouraged by the bass forums because it is like one big community compared to others, such as the Guitar forums.

Now I'm not pushing you into joining, just giving you some information if you are curious. You could always be a guest for a couple months and then join, just to get comfortable. That's what I did.

All in all it is a decent forum with friendly people (save few ignorant "flamers") and quick responses. I would encourage you to join because you would be a nice addition. We hold many competitions monthly, provided you have recording equipment. To hear some solo songs by you would be outstanding. You would be a great competitor, after hearing your talent.

Well anyways, good luck with your band, man. You guys are truly talented.
