Of course, can't be sober and have friends.

Nostalgia 05-02-2009 05:53 PM

I think we all need to realize different lifestyles fit different people. I honestly believe ADB when he says he has had opportunities to go out and be social but doesn't because it's not his cup of tea. It may not be the most physically/emotionally healthy thing to isolate yourself from others, but if it what makes him happy then what else is he to do? Let him live his life as he chooses.

On the topic of stupid friends:

The only time I would ever drop a friend is if he stole from me or was dishonest to the point if it causing personal trouble to me. Last night my friends wanted to do a beer run and I told them I wouldn't drive 'cause I didn't feel like being arrested.

They got all mad about it, but it's not like small occurrences like these shred a friendship. People are stupid a lot of the time, and once you recognize this everything becomes easier.
I never said everyone does stupid ****, just asking why people put up with it in a friendship

Thanks for your valued input

I am dude. I just am not a social person, at all. I don't have many commonalities with people. I like death metal, internet humor, and animal photographs. Not exactly stuff to talk about to strangers.

I bet they drink
Then don't talk to them about it. What you like just described millions of men across the planet, and I'm going to guess that not all of them hide away from society.

I have a hard time relating to most people myself. it could be that I'm around stupid rich people too much, but sometimes I just can't fathom why some people are they way they are. But I just stick to the people that I can relate too.

Ulthwe 05-02-2009 05:54 PM

You know that finding close narrowed common interests isn't the way to make friends right? I mean, a good deal of my friends don't listen to metal, play warhammer, play guitar or anything like that, but I'm still able to be friends with them because we live in the same place and within that find things to talk about and build on.

Anyway it's obvious you don't actually try to make friends, and me ranting isn't gonna make you so whatever, if you wanna shelter yourself from necessary experiences in life that you'll need to succeed baring you actually want to finish school and leave home go ahead.

hismajestythepope 05-02-2009 05:54 PM

Austin, nobody is saying that ADB shouldn't be an introvert.

l2read noob

C.O.A. 05-02-2009 05:56 PM

I'm an introvert for christ's sake...

i mean, i don't get it. do you try to avoid talking to every person you meet? after about 2 minutes of talking to someone, you can usually tell if you have anything in common. if you do, try to ease into doing stuff with them over time that you both enjoy. if you don't have anything in common, then whatever...

i mean, honestly it seems like you are trying to not make any friends because you think that everybody does drugs and drinks and is an idiot. stop having that attitude and you might make some friends.

also, making friends takes effort ususally...

Good point. Absolutely NONE of my friends listen to anything I listen to. What makes them my friends is the fact that i grew up with them and we share broad interests.

idk every1 ridicules me for my interests

Nostalgia 05-02-2009 05:57 PM

ADB'S a hermit, and no matter how furiously we type on our keyboards to fix him, we won't.

That's my point.

hismajestythepope 05-02-2009 05:58 PM

I don't think anybody is trying to fix him.

I think Ron's actually giving him advice, and I think Steve and I were making fun of him for acting like repeatedly saying IM AN INTROVERT makes his social retardation not his fault.
also, making friends takes effort ususally...
really?

Jaundice 05-02-2009 05:59 PM

I only have one friend that I have anything at all in common with and I never ever see her. Ftl.

Nostalgia 05-02-2009 06:00 PM

I think anyone who posts on an internet forum is slightly introverted to an extent. The reason I do it is because I don't have friends who really listen to the same music I do or share the same thoughts.

That's why I talk to your fags all the time.

RouteOne 05-02-2009 06:00 PM

what interests do they ridicule you for?

Nostalgia 05-02-2009 06:01 PM

wait are you really asking MAPPY that?

Jaundice 05-02-2009 06:01 PM
I think anyone who posts on an internet forum is slightly introverted to an extent.
I've made this observation.

I post here because I love the people, they're really nice.

Time to go get that sandwich I was talking about like three hours ago.

hismajestythepope 05-02-2009 06:01 PM

i like (most of) the ppl here too
what interests do they ridicule you for?
Thats not my attitude. Youre twisting what I'm saying. I'm saying I don't share the commonality of drinking with other people. That is a huge social tool in college which connects people. Also I don't avoid talking to people, I just dont intiatiate it before or after class.

I have the few friends I need. My brother is my best friend too, I got enough.

I liked your first post better, but this works too.

Yup. I really, really wish I had at least one freind irl that had the same musical interests as me. I would love to talk about it with them. I hardly ever say my real views in public.

hismajestythepope 05-02-2009 06:05 PM

my friends all listen to some music i enjoy, we just dont have identical tastes

the majority of my friends make fun of me for listening to metalcore, skramz, and post hardcore :(

oh good point

C.O.A. 05-02-2009 06:06 PM

adb 05-02-2009 06:09 PM
hey adb you have a job right?
Yes I'm "working" right now. My friends aren't working now so thats why I'm on here
Good point. Absolutely NONE of my friends listen to anything I listen to. What makes them my friends is the fact that i grew up with them and we share broad interests
I don't have any friends I grew up with. They all went their separate ways (before facebook and myspace were popular)

I got my brother into all the music I listen to. We always talk about it and go to shows, like I said.

hismajestythepope 05-02-2009 06:10 PM

I only hang out with two kids I used to when I was little.

RouteOne 05-02-2009 06:11 PM

I hang out with ghosts of famous dead people and pokemon its alright
I got my brother into all the music I listen to. We always talk about it and go to shows, like I said.
I wish my brother (that I live with) was into the same music as me, that'd be awesome.

He's all about hippy jam band bullpoop and indie.

Nostalgia 05-02-2009 06:14 PM

All my old friends/ones i grew up with are the super popular/abercrombie kind of guys. whenever i see them in the halls, we pass by like we don't even know one another and it's pretty depressing to think about.

oh well

adb 05-02-2009 06:14 PM

oh god, I know. I was friends with these guys in jr high, and in high school they became popular and it was awkward making eye contact
I wish my brother was into the same music as me, that'd be awesome.

I thought youre older brothers the one who got you into all the **** you listen to

Nostalgia 05-02-2009 06:16 PM

my brother still thinks led zeppelin is the best band ever, so consider yourselves lucky

hismajestythepope 05-02-2009 06:17 PM

my brother listens to like 5 cds, and theyre all by either sublime or blind melon

well he listens to A LOT of other stuff, he has a huge cd collection, and yet for some reason he just listens to sublime and blind melon when hes home
All my old friends/ones i grew up with are the super popular/abercrombie kind of guys. whenever i see them in the halls, we pass by like we don't even know one another and it's pretty depressing to think about.

oh well
That's how highschool was for me, mostly.

The one kid I used to hang out with a lot tried to call me out on, "changing," in 12 grade, based entirely off music tastes.
I thought youre older brothers the one who got you into all the **** you listen to
which is why I edited it to say (the one I live with) haha

and that brother hates metal now because hes insane and thinks its all devil music

RouteOne 05-02-2009 06:17 PM
