I think Mike uses PRS primarily while Peter tends to favor the Les Paul. I could be wrong though.

NP: Green Carnation
Yeah, but on Lamentations he switched to the Les Paul just for "Ending Credits"
And (i think) To Rid The Disease. I know he uses a Les Paul on two songs.

Kaiwaz 04-05-2006 09:08 PM

He may use a Les Paul live on a few songs, but I know he uses PRS in the studio for electric and Martin Acoustics.

Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 - Electric
Paul Reed Smith CE 24 - Electric
Martin 000-16GT - Acoustic
Martin 000-28 - Acoustic
Amalio Burguet 2AM -Classical
Laney amplifiers
Boss GT-6 Guitar Processor
Boss GT-3 Guitar Processor

I miss the days when they used Jackson RR's for all of their leads. :(

Det_Nosnip 04-05-2006 09:12 PM

So, I was thinking earlier today: Mikael has kids, and I bet that discipline is never a problem in the Akerfeldt household. I mean, seriously...can you imagine standing up to that?

Mike: Time for bed, son...go to your room.
Son: Oh, please Papa! Can't I stay just a little longer?
Mike: Son...
Son: Pleeeaaaasseee!!
Mike: GOOOWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRR TOOOOOOOOOOO YOUWWRRR RWWWOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!
Son:

lol.

Then he would slip into a nice acoustic ballad about how he will be eaten by the demon under his bed.

I bet Mikael could write a nice song about that:amaze:

Kaiwaz 04-05-2006 10:47 PM

I can't believe he named his Daughter Melinda...

Crysiss 04-05-2006 11:01 PM

Whats hard to believe about it? Does the concept of Still Life make it weird?
I just thought about it. It does make it weird:eek:

Kaiwaz 04-05-2006 11:06 PM

Ya know? Just immagine her reading the lyrics for the first time ''Dad named me Melinda? Why!? Does he want my throat slit? I don't have black hair...and what the fuck does Perplexion mean?''

Crysiss 04-05-2006 11:09 PM

That should be the question I should ask Mikael if he ever comes online to the official forums and answer questions.

Kaiwaz 04-05-2006 11:12 PM

 which one?

Crysiss 04-05-2006 11:15 PM

Well I seriously doubt he'd come to MX and do it:upset:

It'd probably be on the official opeth forums at www.ultimatemetal.com

He used to post there under his real name. Mendez used to post there too.

The guys in Novembers Doom usually post alot in there forums:thumb:

I wish Opeth did that frequently

Kaiwaz 04-05-2006 11:16 PM

haha I know that, I meant which question? The suffix of Preplex?

Crysiss 04-05-2006 11:18 PM

No, why he decided to name his daughter Melinda and If he'll ever show her the Still Life album lyrics

Kaiwaz 04-05-2006 11:31 PM

Yeah that's fucked up.

Melinda: ''Dad, why did you name me Melinda?''

Mikael: ''I named you after a fictional character on my Still Life concept album.''

Melinda: ''So what does the second verse of Serenity Painted Death mean?''

Mikael: ''What do you mean 'what does it mean?'

Melinda: ''Well it says here; 'Ripped from my embrace, Melinda reflected in shafts, Red line round her neck, Met the earth in silence.''

Mikael: ''Oh, that's when Melinda dies.''

Melinda: '' ... so when you wrote 'the noose is tied' on White Cluster, what does that mean?''

Mikael: ''..."

Melinda: '' ''

Slapping Penguin 04-06-2006 03:50 AM

Mabye he just likes the name...........

the2stranger 04-06-2006 04:33 AM

I would be quite honored to be named after a figure in a story my dad came up with :)

Thor 04-06-2006 07:10 AM

I would too, especially if it was an Opeth album.

Jude 04-06-2006 08:44 AM

It would be kind of creepy though, considering what happens to Melinda in the story.

the2stranger 04-06-2006 08:59 AM

Looking at the lyrics for Deliverance makes me feel that way.
I mean, how could you come up with that?
What If Mikael is a real killer
On the other hand, Cannibal Corpse has got even more bizarre lyrics

i am the robots 04-06-2006 10:07 AM

That would be quite unnerving if you axe me son.

TojesDolan 04-06-2006 12:50 PM

Isn't his wife named Melinda too?

You know. Parenting, lol.

Shadius 04-06-2006 01:02 PM

No, she isn't?

Anglachel 04-06-2006 02:26 PM
Isn't his wife named Melinda too?

Nope.

TojesDolan 04-06-2006 02:35 PM

Mikael at in interview:

MI: Tell me a joke.

Mikael: I only have very bad jokes. What’s the best thing about ****ing twenty-eight year old girls? There are twenty of them.

<_<
>_>

the2stranger 04-06-2006 02:38 PM

He should become stand up comedian, he always has such absurd humor.

TojesDolan 04-06-2006 02:41 PM

Oh, I see. His wife's name is Anna.

It's all clear now.

Det_Nosnip 04-06-2006 03:38 PM

Meh...people die. There are plenty of little Jesuses running around in Mexico...I seriously doubt that any of them mind that their namesake was nailed to a cross for a few days and stabbed.

No actually it's a very old ritual prepared and the whole staging is pretty serious and interesting.

I'm talking about the play performed in.. eh, forgot the city.

But if you're talking about the drunk fucks that nail themseleves to the crosses and beat themselves with whips and/or sticks. Yeah they are very wrong.
