BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 11-10-2004 07:21 PM

Hey Livewired Quicksilver Messanger Service is a new favorite thanx.

thickasabrick 11-10-2004 07:31 PM

i just listened to the entire Atom Heart Mother album by Pink Floyd, and im slightly disappointed. the first extremely long song (or is it just a collection of songs) was amazing, but after that it went downhill. What are you opinions on this album?

i would post this in the Pink Floyd thread, but most of them are such big fans they would just say i'm stupid or something useless, so im looking for real opinions.

Agreed Atom Heart Mother just wasn't that good :(

I love Roger McQuinn's twelve string. Especially in the beginning of Eight Miles High, to name but one example.

I'm definitely into the country-rock. Gram Parsons is a real underrated musical figure. He was in the International Submarine Band, where he began his country rock stage. He turned the Byrds into a more country sounding band with Sweetheart of the Rodeo, though many people don't really appreciate the change. And then he went on to start the Flying Burrito Brothers, one of my favourite bands, and one of the most underrated by far. They did a great cover of the Stones' "Wild Horses"

hats the only song I can name off hand. I have listened to Sureallistic Pillow about 3 times off the site.

thickasabrick 11-10-2004 08:06 PM

check out their first album, surrealistic pillow. it's got some really good songs on it, white rabbit is on it, same with Somebody to love (you've probably heard it). All the songs are amazing. Kind of like surf music (think Ventures) meets The Doors, with Jerry Garcia as the musical and spiritual advisor (it actually credits him as that on the album), i think it means he supplied them with acid.

are you talking about Jefferson Airplane? im sure the doors covered back door man, and countless artists covered smokestack lightning (yardbirds, govt mule, lynyrd skynyrd, george thorogood), but i've never heard jefferson airplane doing it. i must have understood you wrong.
