I'm actually kinda psyched for it, Sir. I'm going to Safeway to download the third album today.
well our gig was a bit fucky... the guy who was supposed to do sound did his classic deal and booked himself twice, so he hired another dude at 1630/4:30 PM (the gig was at 2100/9 PM) and when he dropped off his gear he dropped off a bass drum, one tom and a snare... and no hardware, stands or anything. I was fucking choked. Luckily the other band's drum kit was in town so we picked it up and set everything up... it was extremely last-minute but whatever. The worst parts of the gig were definitely the way it was promoted and set up (it wasn't) and when I first kicked in distortion for it started feeding back, but rather than tell me that the soundman just cut the guitar out of the monitors so suddenly I couldn't hear a fucking thing. but we ended up getting paid, so that was a real plus! heh. |
oh, and two awesome parts of the gig:
I brought our 'mascot' - this little martian toy that sits on my fridge and was in the house when we moved in. I put him on stage during the other band's set and took tons of shots of him jamming out with the band and my buddy Andy came to see the show but was, by his definition 'loser-pissed' and he was just nodding out the entire time. So of course we took pictures with him while he was sleeping and shit. that was pretty funny. |
We haven't made it out of the city yet, but in Fredericton it's okay... there are basically 3 regular music venues (one of which is the campus bar, so it's only open during the school year), and then there are some other odds and ends that sometimes have shows. But, we've played 5 shows since April, and made about $900, so it's not too bad. Good turnouts, usually, and receptive audience.
That's not bad at all. I would love to tour out East someday. |
That's not bad at all.
I would love to tour out East someday.
Yeah, we're hoping to get some shows in the Maritimes in the next while, and eventually just spread out from there. |
Awesome, mang.
My band is getting really close to being ready to start playing shows again. I mean, we could definitely pull it off now, but a couple more weeks and we'll be killing it. I can't wait to start playing live again. It's been since April, I think, since I last played a show. That's way too long. We've been busy recording and practicing with the new singer to get her ready, but it's still been awful going this long without a show.
Send me some of your songs. |
Send me some of your songs.
They're unmixed. Not quite ready for your ears. This weekend has been sweet. Both shows were awesome. Now just gotta wait for Wednesday for the topper. |
Sooo... My Precision sounds awesome through my Matamp, with only a minimal pedal setup. Ones I never need to turn on or off. So I was thinking about racking them. There's only about half a dozen of them. Anyone done that?
|
So you'd want them to be hidden enough to be inconspicuous and a piece of your rig you never have to worry about but accessible enough to change settings if you ever change your mind on a tone?
OR make a custom rack case where the pedals have their front parallel with the cases front so: _____________________________ | | o o o| | | | | | | | llllllll | | | | llllllll | etc etc etc etc | | _____________________________ And that would be facing outwards from a rack. Excuse the poor explanation and diagram :p |
lol some girl i know just accepted a job as the third GF of a rich guy with a black american express card
so shes basically a white collar hooker now and she has to live with him and his 2 other girlfriends and they all have to have sex together and stuff and he gives them cocaine lol. |
Haha what do you mean accepted a job, was it an advertised position?
She must be proud of herself. |
no she was "recruited" at a bar. they got her drunk, and they all hooked up that night. this was friday i think. they proposed the idea to her to think about. total strangers almost at this point.
then the next day i guess she went out with them again to "make a decision" now shes moving in to be a hooker but its ok cuz its "white collar" prostitution |
Is that what she tells herself? What a dumb ho.
Does she cook and clean too? |
no she does not
we almost kind of got together last year too and i feel shameful for ever liking her |
Yeah you should be ashamed of yourself.
But not as much as she should be ashamed of herself . It'd be funny if her parents knew what she was doing hey. "So Herb, how's the daughter doing?" "She a ho" "Outstanding" |

Get a rack drawer and drill some holes. Or get a rolling rack shelf and velcro them on. |
So my girlfriend and I are going out for dinner tonight, and I went to phone the restaurant we had picked to make a reservation. I am met with "Sorry, but we're not open on Mondays." Sigh. I'm a tard.
|
Hit McDonald's, Ben. McDonald's is always classy.
EDIT: hey do you have a chain of sandwich shops near you called Captain Sub? I know they were a maritime chain and we had one in my hometown of Mattawa ON but it folded by the time I went back last year. those subs were the best. |
Lol. nub.
Is there a different restaurant you can go to? |
There's this awesome sandwich shop in Toronto that I've discovered recently. It's called Sky Blue Sky. It's just this small independent shop, but it's the best sandwich shop I've ever been to.
|
What kinda sandwiches are we talking, Zack? Are we talking submarines, toasted sandwiches, specialties, deli sandwiches?
And for what it's worth I listened to ze album yesterday on a friend's computer. I could see how you'd get sick of your singer during that stage of the band... some songs she sounded pretty good on, some really didn't work with her vocals. But on a whole I dug it. I'd totally be interested in hearing the second one. I'm not one-hundred percent sure, but I believe that right now the project I've undertaken has reduced to a one-piece. :upset:/:| |
Lol. nub.
Is there a different restaurant you can go to?
Yeah, there's a couple of other good ones that we frequent, but we were looking to try something different tonight. |

Admit it, if you could, you would.

I don't even know this chick and I'd nail her. |

About the singer... basically, the more we practiced and the better the three of us (bass, drums, guitar) got, the worse she got. She never practiced, she couldn't remember lyrics or when to come in, she couldn't sing in key... it just got really painful after a while and we had to give her the boot. Glad you liked it, though. I'll see about getting you the other one soon. |
Send me the raws to 1 song and ill give it a quick mix.
Well... first of all, I, personally, don't have the files on my computer. Second, I don't think anyone in the band would agree to this. The only chance would be maybe if you could provide us with some samples of music that you've mixed, preferrably something stylistically similar to what we're doing. Otherwise... yeah, I don't see it happening. |
Lmao yeah okay spiff, cause your band has such high production standards based on past releases
And besides it would just be a rough 1 hour mix to see if your tracking has shit show of sounding decent. |

Edit: Nevermind. STD's aren't cool. |
Pics or White-Collar Ho doesn't exist.
