[QUOTE=NachoChez]My improv hardcore grindcore metalcore band has some stuff on purevolume now from our show on Friday.

I like the concept....but I really dont dig metalcore, I dont know why I even listened.

Zappa 07-04-2005 10:38 AM

Plenty of bands around here do improv entirely. It's mostly because they don't want to bother to write and learn songs. I'm not passing judgement on Nacho at all, though, since I didn't listen to his stuff (yet?).

Zappa 07-04-2005 11:42 AM

I know this isn't the Audio Arena, but I've never posted there, and I'm afraid. Anyhow, I started recording this with my Casio PT-1 last night at 3 A.M., and finished it up just a bit ago (adding in the Yamaha PSR-16 and some CoolEdit effects). I am stuck for a title, so any help in that regard would be fantastic. I'm also always happy to read criticism from people I respect or have never met. Link:

EDIT: In all seriousness, name it "Rollicking Hills of ...something."

Well_Respected_Man 07-04-2005 01:45 PM

Alex, It sounds like the kind of music that would be played on an asian cartoon on PBS based on a cat that can talk. Cool stuff.

Zappa 07-04-2005 01:50 PM

Hills can't really be rollicking...

Robert Crumb 07-04-2005 02:19 PM

That was short but neat, Zap.

Hills can rollick, I'd say, in the same way they can roll or river can wander. In any case, I say you call it, "Cry For the Hills, For the Hills Can't Rollick." Or something.

Happymeal 07-04-2005 02:30 PM

By the way Alex what happened to your electronica/samples tinkering project? I just played "Clean it Up" and "Beached Mermaid" awhile ago.

Zappa 07-04-2005 02:31 PM

I completed my first EP, and I'm working on an LP to hopefully finish by the end of the summer. I've got about 6 minutes (5 tracks) of material so far to go on the LP.

Happymeal 07-04-2005 02:39 PM

Nice, let me listen to it when you're done.

O happy coincedence. I just wrote a song entitled "Rock for the Hills Cuz the Hills Can Only Roll".

So, I just got home from my first day of my new summer job.

Bartender 07-04-2005 05:54 PM

So, is Iai dead or what?

I probably just missed a goodbye post, but I haven't seen him around for a while now.

Little Man being Erased 07-04-2005 05:57 PM

I was wondering what he's been up to as well, actually. I don't think I saw any goodbye post or anything. Maybe he's gone on a bender for a few days.

[QUOTE=Canadian_Guy]:lol:

My first day is tomorrow

Today is my last day of freedom for the next 6 weeks. Besides weekends of course. I'll have to get up every morning at 6:30 :upset: That'll be impossible. I have to chase around Kindergarteners all day. But I'll make some money

Bah. I'd rather do that than install sprinkler systems on people's lawns, which is what I do.

Wait.

My job owns

ATM 07-04-2005 06:11 PM

I am looking for a job right now.

Well_Respected_Man 07-04-2005 06:14 PM

Mow my lawn

Giggle Giggle.

Even better, I'll randomly dig ditches and shove pipes in your lawn

My sole theory was that he'd maybe joined La Girl D'Ashtray in Newquay(?) for said bender.

Little Man being Erased 07-04-2005 06:37 PM

Heh, yeah that seems about right.

wait, what's Newquay?

Bartender 07-04-2005 06:40 PM

I think (/hope) it's where she said she was going to get drunk for a week, a few pages back.

Little Man being Erased 07-04-2005 06:45 PM

Oh yeah, that's right, it's all coming back to me.

Very nice Zappa, I quite enjoyed that little number.

Zappa 07-04-2005 10:42 PM

I'm glad. I like it too.

masada 07-04-2005 11:19 PM

Sticks go boom. Make big lights.

I was also forced to listen to two cover bands for a period of 6 hours. I heard "Sweet Home Alabam" twice, "Mustang Sally" twice, "Pride and Joy" twice, etc. ****, cover bands just need to die. They ruined "War Pigs". It's pathetic, because I could have pwn3d the guitar player on almost all of the songs.

Cover bands; the new scene!

I saw an 80s synth-pop cover band on the weekend, and they were ridiculously awesome.
