More hilarity (this time from the New York chronology show)...
Audience Member- *something in Swedish* Mike- *reply in Swedish* *Mike walks over to Peter, puts his arm around him, and gives a big goofy smile. The audience member takes a picture.* Resume show... |
The Death album to get is Human. :D
The Death album to get is Human. :D
It's a solid pick, but you really need Symbolic, Human, and The Sound of Perseverance because they're all so excellent. The Opeth thread quickly turned into the Death thread. :) |
Yeah, let's shift topics...
|
We need to get people talking about funny things that Mikael says, but I can't think of any right now.
|
Sadly, I haven't seem them live yet, so I wouldnt know...
I only started listening to the last concert they had here :( EDIT: Or maybe that was Agalloch..Oh well. I haven't seen them live yet :( |
A huge thread of Mikael being hilarious:

"I'm fine." hahaha. Would kill to see how he delivered that. 15 days to go |
heheh 25th of April. I am giddy, NOW people I asked already the songs they play live. Please whats everything you know of them playing live because I don't want to miss a song because I was too dumb to know it.
|
Me too, on UM. Although I only post on the Opeth board.
I post on the ND board also. But I just joined like two weeks ago:thumb: |
The one that Mike said it was there their last song because he had to take a crap was funny.
He was well funny when I saw them live but my mind is a complete blank. I know I laughed though. |
I like that video when hes giving growling lessons.
|
At the Milwaukee show Mikael taught the crowd how to say "I would like some meatballs today" and "I want to suck my own penis" in Swedish. It was really funny to have the whole crowd following along with him, then having him explain what we'd all just said afterwards.
|
It would've been more funnier had he not told you what it meant
But Mike is a nice guy, I dont think he would do that. |

Haha, I bet a few people were embarassed when they heard that they want to suck their own penis  |
They have a really nice setlist, IMO: Ghost of Perdition, Under a Weeping Moon, and Master's Apprentices were the highlights for me when I saw them.
A few Akerfeldt quotes: "It's because of you that we came all the way over from Sweden in the first place, so if you want us to come back, we'll come back. If you don't want us to come back, we'll come back." "So who saw us at the steakhouse the other night?" *Lots of cheers* "Who saw us at the steakhouse the other night and just ate steak the entire time?" *One singular, drunken yell* "You fucker!" "It's ridiculous how much time you spend in your life doing this: \m/ \m/. When Opeth was still a two-piece band back in 1990, I remember us trading off taking pictures in front of my old Bathory poster looking like this: \m/ (>.<) \m/ |
Is it just me or is the tone for "Ending Credits" in the studio version is pathetic compared to the live, "Lamentations" version?
|
I thought it was pretty funny when Mikael was making fun of Mendez' horizontal headbanging
  what did he actually say? |
Is it just me or is the tone for "Ending Credits" in the studio version is pathetic compared to the live, "Lamentations" version?
Totally. Mike's Les Paul tone is so thick sounding on Lamentations. I love it. And the way Mike did the "Swedish lessons" was perfect. He did the meatball one first, which got a nice laugh from the crowd for sheer randomness. Then after the crowd repeated back the second phrase he just said what it meant really matter-of-factly. |

He uses a Paul Reed Smith. |
He uses a Paul Reed Smith.
he plays both when he records.... |
He uses a Paul Reed Smith.
Yeah, but on Lamentations he switched to the Les Paul just for "Ending Credits" |
Yeah, but on Lamentations he switched to the Les Paul just for "Ending Credits"
Oh yeah! The sunburst... he never records with Les Paul though. |
