Josh 04-14-2006 09:14 AM

i was listening to the Iced Earth cover of Transylvania the other day, and while it's technically great, it just isn't the same without Steve's awesome bass in it, driving it along.

i drove down to my gfs last night with POTO blaring out of my awesome sound system. made me drive far too fast, i was braking for corners that you can take at 60mph!

Apocalyptic Raids 04-14-2006 09:15 AM

I've never been a huge fan of the ST, to be honest.

/runs

Deth 04-14-2006 09:20 AM

It's my favorite of the first 3 albums, and depending on my mood first 4.

Josh 04-14-2006 09:22 AM

s/t > NOTB = Killers (IMO).
PoM > the other 3 :p

ashman 04-14-2006 09:33 AM
I left uni because of the maths, don't be bringing that stuff in here
 you left in the end?!

temporary 04-14-2006 09:37 AM

Sorry that Maiden England hasn't been sent out yet. Yousendit was taking forever with uploading it, and then my damn internet went down (its been doing that every few hours, stupid Comcast.) Anyways, I'm trying again, hope to have it out to you soon.

Oh, and for the record: Killers>NOTB=s/t. Killers is just so amazing...

ashman 04-14-2006 09:53 AM
 you left in the end?!
Well Technically I'm still at uni, realistically, I haven't been since Febuary

IMO

ST>NOTB>Killers... I'm starting to likey Dianno.

crag 04-14-2006 11:36 AM

Killers>ST>>>NotB

I really like Paul's Killers band stuff. On Marshall Lockjaw it sounds like he's singing ''i am the warm potato'':p

Josh 04-14-2006 11:46 AM

out of all the albums, BNW > SiT >> the others :p

alexmonty12 04-14-2006 11:49 AM

Woah NoB is my favourite out of the first four albums!

Pretty Tough choice between the other three actually, but i'd say s/t>Killers>PoM

crag 04-14-2006 12:17 PM

BNW>SiT>X-Factor>SSoaSS>Powerslave>PoM>DoD>Killers>ST>Virtual XI>NotB>NPftD>FotD

:)

Josh 04-14-2006 12:37 PM

i'm burning all of the maiden live albums i don't own onto cd right now, just so i can listen to them properly :)

/has no life.

/but still can't be arsed to do what Crag did :p

JamJar 04-14-2006 01:24 PM

I'll do what Crag did because I'm bored.

Powerslave > DoD > BNW > SSOASS > TXF > POM > SIT > Killers > ST > FOTD > TNOTB > NPFTD > VXI

Josh 04-14-2006 02:48 PM

wow, LAD sounds so much better on my stereo than on my mp3 player headphones. i'm up to Revelations now \m/

Lord Abortion 04-14-2006 03:02 PM

There is no point in getting it if there is no Still life.

I have the vid anyhoo.

Auronthewarrior 04-14-2006 04:43 PM

OMGOMGOMOGOMOGMOMGOMG OMGOMGOMG I LOVE IROON MAIDEN *cries*

anyone know when they are going to release a new cd?

JamJar 04-14-2006 04:46 PM

^This autumn I believe.

Auronthewarrior 04-14-2006 04:47 PM

:D:D NICEE! how do u know?

JamJar 04-14-2006 05:01 PM

Kevin Shirler (I think) has been posting web diaries of the recording process and we were told eariler in the year that the album is happening and it's going to be a concept album.

ashman 04-14-2006 06:04 PM

It's Kevin 'Caveman' Shirley :p

Deth 04-14-2006 07:18 PM

I believe we were also told that it will kick our collective asses. But that may just be me talking.

-The Frank 04-14-2006 09:00 PM
/made the list :)

so yeh, all you maidenite spamwhores, what's up today?
i'm listening to FOTD for the first time in a while all the way through, normally i just get odd songs off it on my mp3 player.

is Behind The Iron Curtain a B-side?
behind the iron curtain is a 30 minute video of the band 'behind the iron curtain' of russia (first band to do so i believe), alot of it is just them talking with fans and then you get 5 songs (or is it 3?) of them playing in one of moscows arenas. This was all on the wwolrd savery tour btw.

heres a maiden fan link:
http://www.maidenfans.com/imc/?url=video03_ironcurtain/video03_ironcurtain&lang=eng&link=videos

and for the record S/T=Killers>NoTB

Riva 04-15-2006 02:19 AM

That's not far away, really. I hope it's more Brave New World and less Dance Of Death. Both are good, but I think the former more parallels their '80s work.

Apocalyptic Raids 04-15-2006 04:05 AM

BNW and DOD have never really stood out to me. The just seem to lack something IMO.

crag 04-15-2006 05:21 AM

BNW is the greatest album ever made by anyone, anywhere IMO.

Josh 04-15-2006 06:24 AM

BNW is the best maiden album they've yet released. i mean, it has Ghost of the Navigator, Brave New World, Dream of Mirrors, Out of the Silent Planet, Blood Brothers....those tracks are my favourites, but the others are still great, although IMO The Nomad drags on a bit.

the_uber_penguin 04-15-2006 07:49 AM

Agree with you 100%, Josh.

The Nomad does drag, but it's still awesome. I love the cheesiness of the line "Legend has it that you speak an ancient tongue/ But no one's spoke to you and lived to tell the tale."

I was disappointed not to hear more the 2nd half of the album on RiR: The Fallen Angel and OotSP specifically.

NP - Rhapsody, Lord Of The Thunder

-The Frank 04-15-2006 08:53 AM

I think DoD is one of my favorite maiden albums (if not my favorite), but BNW comes in at a very close second. But both are brilliant albums anyway.

Surtr 04-15-2006 09:41 AM

BNW is probably my favorite, then DoD..Then SSOASS?

Josh 04-15-2006 10:48 AM

i have officially decided that BNW now has 2nd place, and Somewhere in Time has the top spot now :p
as there's no songs on SiT that i think are average, whereas i do think that about The Nomad on BNW :p

ashman 04-15-2006 11:27 AM

 Nomads ace

PAJJ 04-15-2006 11:28 AM
I think DoD is one of my favorite maiden albums (if not my favorite), but BNW comes in at a very close second. But both are brilliant albums anyway.
I agree with this guy.

the_uber_penguin 04-15-2006 05:37 PM

I don't entirely agree with Frank. I didn't really like Gates Of Tomorrow ever, except for the first guitar solo (which is cool: the first note sounds like someone treading on a cat :D ) and New Frontier, despite its catchy chorus has boring verses and lyrics that are way off the mark.

Deth 04-15-2006 07:04 PM

Same with me. Two of the weakest tracks I've heard from the mighty Maiden.

-The Frank 04-15-2006 09:07 PM

^ i agree with the GoT comment but, BNW drags on a bit IMO, where as DoD get rights to the point and keeps you interested throughout. But like i said before i <3 both those albums dearly

jimmypumpkin 04-15-2006 10:55 PM

Iron Maiden. What can I say about these guys that hasn't been said before. Basicaly a phenomonal metal band that consistently puts out good albums and a band who's intensity never seems to fade. By far the best live band i've ever witnessed, and i've witnessed many. Signature sound, excellent musicianship, all around great band.

P.S- I even like the Blaze stuff. Killers is my favorite maiden album but I think Piece of mind best represents them.

Up the irons- forever and ever..

I saw that a while back on Amazon, Pre-order stuff.
