:o
 And as far as the whole hippie/nature vs black metal thing goes, to a certain extent I agree with that interview. Black metal, when it was in its early stages, wasn't just about how extreme the music could be. Much of the very early black metal concepts revolved around not only outright Satanism or evil, but a hatred for christianity and all the pain and destruction it has brought to the world throughout the past thousand or so years. Not the kind of "hatred" that all these little kvlt kiddies today have about wanting to stab their math teacher because they assigned too much homework. A true, deep seeded hatred and wish to annihalate christianity as if it had never existed. A return to the ancient pagan society. And THAT is where the love of nature comes in. Because christianity didn't only bring pain and destruction to millions of people, it brought about changes to those people's society that, ultimately, physically altered the landscape and the enviornment. Take the church burnings as an example. While they were done out of a hatred for christianity, there was a secondary reason behind them in that the christian churches were not part of the natural, more pagan landscape. Just my 2 cents. |
Interesting stuff
True embrace of nature is nowhere near hippieish. It's actually a shame that such a good post was virtually ignored.
Anything saying I need to know what season some flowers bloom in to understand black metal does not qualify as a good post. True embrace of nature may not be hippie but these WITTR retards little "radical eco terrorism" to save the rainforests and trees has more place in Greenpeace and hippie circles. WITTR is just a new gimmick band and lets hope the whole environmental crusade trend dies out before it gets as big as DSBM. |

I know very little of WITTR apart from what I read here so I cannot comment on them. There may be hippies that are members of greenpeace and are "pagan", but just because hippies have long hair doesn't mean metalheads are hippies...if you understand me. Both hippie greenpeace activists and black metal eco terrorists have a similar goal but almost opposing perspectives. Green beliefs are to do with hatred for capitalist society that says everything has a price tag and nature is little but a tool, and love for the natural world and way of life. These views have nothing to do with whether you are a nihilistic warlike pagan black metaller or a deluded self indulgent hippie. It pisses me off that embrace for nature is associated with being a hippie because hippies are the biggest ****ing christians in the world; they hate any violence, domination, death, struggle, survival of the fittest etc... which are all vitally important parts of the paganism and indeed the whole world. I have seen this all too much in the pagan books I have read: the majority of so called "pagans" manipulate the past ways of life to their own accord, stand beneath Stonehenge on midsummer's day and say a prayer for peace and love, it's a joke. They're all a bunch of Christians who fill their dull lives with misconceptions and mystical beliefs. It's embarrassing to be associated with these people so I don't call myself a pagan. |
You obviously have little reading comprehension, since you obviously missed the entire point of my post. You're what they are talking about: an urban lay-about that masturbates over gas chambers and dream of some absurd fairy tale land of "satanic destruction". You're a waste of time. Never mind.
100% correct.
i think you're right mr. ron and indeed you got it spot on there legionsofmarduk as a sidenote are you a marduk fan? is that where you got your name or was it from the god marduk? |

I find paganism to be a deep well of philosophy and wisdom, yet its corrupted by new age morons that think its all about non-violence and peace and love. Nature is the most destructive force on Earth! Don't get me wrong, peace is nice, so is love. However, if you live inside of some sort of bubble where you think thats all you need in life...then you're lost. This is the dual aspect of paganism and nature. Nature has two faces: Darkness and light, Destruction and growth. Nature wields ultimate destruction and ultimate healing. Think of the deepest valley, the loneliest mountain top and the deepest ocean. They define aloneness and solitude, hallmarks of BM. So to embrace nature and all of it's aspects IS a central part of BM and it's pagan/satanic/occult/philosophical roots. |

belief in such a duality is semetic though. pagans believed in cycles rather than opposites, death is so entwined in life in the pagan perspective that death implies life and vica versa. however there are non semetic interpretations of such a kind, like yin and yang for example. |
this is getting intense...
|
wow mr ron you got pretentious pretty fast there
|
okay, here lets put it this way
WHAT THE **** DOES BEING PAGAN OR BEING CHRISTIAN HAVE ANYTHING AT ALL TO DO WITH NATURE CONSERVATION? <- animal rights activist/tree hugger whatever the ****, im probably much more in touch with "nature" than any badass pagan tuffy who burns down a church because he cant take it that people these days might believe in something different than people hundreds of years ago MODERNIZATION has NOTHING to do with christianity, if you might know, there were plenty of christians years ago who thought that science was the devil, but you know CHRISTIANS RUIN TEH EATH CAUSE BLACK METAL RULZ |

This word gets throw around too much. Pretension means to attract the attention of others and attempt to impress them. Mr. Ron already did both so that term doesn't really apply anymore. |
